Hello, I’m the creator of Amy in sonic mania, and I thought I would mention that this demo (despite using some placeholder sprites) actually includes completely custom animations, as well as the high jump, and a hammer move to use when stationary. (It translates to a high jump in motion when running)

16:34 I've done that throughout the development of this mod multiple times with the author. Our favourite one is Air Fleet, where one has to kill the president's craft and the other stop that from happening.

I.... just marathoned “sonic mania: advance quest” as tails.... even with the megamix move set mod and hyper forms.... it was bound to be a drag without having the chaos emeralds taken away via closing and continuing the game later.
It was promising for the first third.... and then it began stagnating.
EDIT: It was ok after zone 4, but not enough seemed to change.
Split screen in Shadow story mode is actually pretty cool, I don't know why that wasn't a thing in the game to begin with

You know, you do have a Twitch channel that hasn't seen the light of day in God knows how long. Seems perfect for playing the SA2 Randomizer on. You and some friends on Skype chat or whatever with audio, and all of the people on chat getting to see just how insane, yet strangely close to coherent, everything gets.
My new favorite character is the Rapping Devil. I liked the raps from the Rapping Sorcerer, but the Rapping Devil is on a whole other level! I wanna listen to that on loop!

This whole hack pokes fun at the 0.02 prototype of Sonic CD, where Palmtree Panic was called Salad Plains
so i want to say i find the Shadow in Sonic 1 impressive, cuz i remember hearing and SEEING that if you messing with Sonic's blue it messes with the blue sky in Emerald Hill as they use the same palette. but in that hack it doesnt seem to, which tells me in all the years since i last saw that kind of mod, somebody figured out how to add palettes or something.
It’s not the sky that messes up, it’s the badnik colors. They got around it by changing all purple badniks to blue, thus freeing up room for more colors. You can see in later levels that caterkillers and stuff are blue in that hack.
(It’s a bit more complicated than that from a technical perspective but that’s the gist of it)
@@campbellsonic there used to be some videos i saw WAY back of rom hacks for Shadow, Tails, Knuckles , and Amy over Sonic in Sonic 1 and it messed with any of the blue palette colors. i THANKFULLY was able to find at least one i recognized so i know i didnt imagine them, at least not the Amy one. th-cam.com/video/RE7_iBFCxH4/w-d-xo.html
I don’t think that had to do with palette conflicts, I think they just intentionally changed the colors for some reason. I hack Sonic 1 myself and I can assure you that the sky palette is completely separate from the Sonic/badnik palette.
@@campbellsonic how strange, i wonder why anybody would go out of their way to do that for 4 different character mods... well while trying to find that video i recalled from long ago something about somebody mentioning the sky thing when it came to a reason as to why you couldnt do the lock-in thing with Sonic 1 and Sonic 3 to play as Tails or Knuckles in that. granted that sounds a little silly now. even if it was Sega during their prime they probably wouldnt have cared if a few palettes got screwy.
The lock-on issue is the thing I mentioned initially, which screws up badnik palettes and, most notably, Eggman. In the Expo, there’s a Ray in Sonic 1 hack that does NOT fix the palette issues, and you can see most badniks as well as Eggman have turned orange.

Yeah, a lot of these are a work on progress, but they do have music. The custom music for Sonic Gaiden is amazing btw. If you wanna see more of these hacks and mods, Somecallmejohnny and MegaGWolf go through these hacks annually. Also, as someone who views their streams of these, i can tell you a couple of things, like you will get sick of Green Hill Zone. Holy fuck it never ends.
