One of the reasons Arne Slot was so respected at Feyenoord was the fact that he had new players every year yet he was always able to get the best out of them.
I'm really hoping we get to see a lot more of Bajetic this season, that lad has some real talent. Could turn out to be the 6 we've been saying we need, although that's a bit disrespectful of Endo, who is a lot better than he's given credit for. Not close to peak Fabs yet, but he could get there. This could also be a great season for Quansah, he's far better on the ball that Ibo, and Slot seems to want his backs to play a lot more close passes. That said, Konate is mighty in the tackle. Not expecting too much for the season, but if we're still challenging late in the season I'll be happy enough.
Right about transfer situation. Too many managers are pressed to sign players as soon as they come to a club without looking at the players they have. Klopp used academy players to cover for injuries last season and changed style of play to suit. Liverpool have adaptive players with a depth of ability.
No need to panic about transfers for sure but, Zubimendi would have raised the ceiling of the team for sure. Champions league is going to be brutal this season (you should do a video on that btw) so why we have viable starters the drop off to Endo is stark and could hurt us significantly as the season progresses.
I kept getting whiplash from the subreddit. One day everyone’s all about slotball and the next we’re going to explode unless we sign someone. Take a damn chill pill and enjoy the football we’re playing! We didn’t settle when we wanted van Dijk and I’d like to say that worked out for the better
I've given up trying to say anything sensible there. It's all herd mentality in every post either one way or the other and any thing against the flow gets shut down. Now I just look, shake my head and move on.
Well Adam, you nailed the prediction of the Ipswich/Liverpool game!!! It would have been embarrassing if they hadn't won, especially as you were so confident...
i think we’ll see a lot of goals that i call the lampard goal, a winger or fullback gets in behind then the defenders run back to cover the striker then lampard would arrive on the edge of the box ahead of his marker and finish. Szoboszlai, macca and elliott are perfect for this arriving late tactic cus they have the ability to pick a corner and hit it
I'm a Liverpool fan and I'm not very concerned about the lack of transfers. Yes, it would be great to bring 1 or 2 valuable players, but Liverpool already have a great team and also a lot of promising youngsters. Arne Slot is good at developing young players, so the squad have enough depth to cover all competitions. So, with patience, the future sounds good for Liverpool
Dest plays for PSV mate. Our left fullback was Hartman. You had Lopez , Hancko and even Geertruida on that position. Geertruida usually played as an inverted back on the opposite side
Very helpful insight and analysis for the less technically astute fans such as myself. Also there's a prediction to be tested by the way we play against Ipswich and Brentford. You give a far more in depth explanation than highly paid TV pundits. Keep at it with the technical stuff balanced nicely with splashes of humour.
Interesting how trent sprung salah loose so many times (moreso the second half) and he was able to score even tho he's producing that width so much. He's still got the speed to break. I wonder what he'll do when he loses that third or fourth step and usually the wingers become strikers
I'm very very excited to see the team play this season. Slot has impressed so far but I'd like to see what his game management is like, Klopp was a genius in that regard
This is a good insight into why there's not been any incomings (at the time of writing) this season, however all it takes is one or two injuries (VVD, Gravenberch/Mac Allister), and the season is done. I genuinely believe if they just invested the money that we've received from sales this window on a CB, DM & someone who can play on either wing back and we can challenge for the title
Looks like the new generation of tactics is going to be all about not having a GK in build-up, and not having a ST in attack. For example, Liverpool are essentially playing a 0-3-4-4-0 formation in possession, with Kelleher sitting where a CB would and Jota sitting where an attacking midfielder would. Man United seem to be trying to do the same, with Fernandes and Zirkzee up top.
Slot is just like an overqualified assistant coach who should be an assistant coach for a top class coach imo. He has a great understanding of football but I would be surprised if he gets into title shots easily like klopp did. There is that x factor that klopp injects to his players the sheer amount of comebacks and late goals under klopp is proof for that. I'm waiting to see how he responds when the team is behind by a goal. So far he has a patient approach to football, I'm curious to see if the football stats the same or they play with urgency. I hope he proves me wrong
I have said this elsewhere, but it warrants repetition - much better a coach who improves the whole squad that a manager who tries to improve the team one position at a time by transfers.
Many in the football world, be they fans, pundits or general media, seem to be having a hard time believing that Arne Slot could create a better and more successful style of football at Liverpool than Klopp. Before any fellow Liverpool fans attack me with accusations of sacrilege, just hear me out. Klopp's style of football required tremendous levels of intensity and fitness. This brought with it a higher risk of injury and also issues for older players who might not be able to maintain that level. Although Slot's style isn't exactly Pep Guardiola, I personally think Slot's controlling game will be easier on the players, thus the risk of burnout is less likely. Less injuries and burnout means more consistent teams being put out on a regular basis. Also remember that Slot is employing his style with a much better group of players than he had at Feyenoord which should make his style look even better.
His press is very high intensity. These things tend not to work overly well if you spend long periods without the ball, which we seemed to pre season, over the course of the season it could take its toll. This isn’t the Eredivisie.
I just watched this just now! Like slot says post match. First half was winning the individual battle. And we didn't do it! Second half, smashed it. Slot could be a prem genius!!! ❤❤❤
That is seriously interesting analysis from FourFourTwo's excellent Adam Clery. ⚽ Slot needs some time to bed in. He is a modern, intellectual Football coach. Yet another one to come out of the Dutch School. Not a bullshitter like his compatriot ten Hag. 🤔 Elite Football is an intellectual tussle - a battle of wits! It is not just about power, pace, marquee signings and spending might.
I don’t know why more goalkeepers haven’t become great coaches. I played as an outfield player (6) for school but as as a goalkeeper at club and provincial level. I found my understanding of defensive positioning was far above most of my teammates as understanding what the keeper needs to keep a clean sheet is what I understood best. Granted my attacking understanding was probably limited.
Would be interested to learn why the 'narrow edge of box' position suits Bradley but not Trent. Seems like Trent could be very dangerous from that sort of shooting position.
Only thing I can think of is that Trent isn't necessarily good in tight spaces. We've seen him lose the ball a couple of times, so maybe that position would suit Bradley better?
@@martinkerrmusic yeah, but forgets where he is and gets caught in possession. Try thinking about what has been said, rather than projecting next time.
Didn’t see much change as he claimed in this video. Macca dropped deeper in between six and eight under Klopp last season and Szobo or Elliot operates higher up to give Trent space to drift inside. The only difference is Slot tried to play out of defense as much as possible which is slower buildup which didn’t work out in the fist half against Ipswich. Second half when Trent started launching the long pass is when Liverpool came to life. Didn’t mean Slot ball wouldn’t work but it is still pretty much imprinted Klopp’s football for now and it still works.
When Pep said Roberto De Zerbi is the most influential manager this century, I didnt believe him. Slot is basically playing RDZ Brightons tactics at Liverpool. In some way, hes also playing Ruben Amorim tactics. All of them are designed to avoid breaking down a low block but create space in behind the opponents last line of defence. So u invite the opponent to press u, then pass through them and suddenly you're counter attacking. Trick here is not to press them high. Drop back into a midblock and then deep. Ask them to do the thing they dont want to do i.e break down a low block.
Yeah, I am only beginning to really understand what Pep meant. What I view as RDZ's insight is how rotations can be used to create local overloads, and once you have control from in an overloaded position simple back/side passes can buy enough time to look up field for the line breaking pass. Such defies the usual positional play rules of thumb, because crowds are assumed to favor the defense. Of course, that is just the building block of RDZ's system -- the real fun begins when you form ladders that progress the ball right down the throat of the opposition defense. IMO, the midblock with a counterattacking threat has always been the best way to play against Man City and Liverpool. Two
arne slot use dual 6, 6 as deep lying playmaker and other 6 as segunda volante (6 attacker), also inverted fullback. arne slot core strategy are exposing midfielder with pass and move from all of their midfielders and inverted fullback who drag into midfield when in possesions
Yup. With three or four single marked attackers making runs it is very difficult to hold the high line. For Liverpool's goal, Salah's marker actually did the right thing, even though he drew a lot of criticism -- he tried to pull up and leave Mo offside. In fact, from what the LB could possibly know, Salah was 6 inches offside when the forward pass was made. But the LB does not have eyes in the back, and Jota's run caused a defender to drift back 12-18 inches. Oops.
Better than the analysis on the radio 5 commentary which was shocking. One minute she was saying it’s the same, the next she couldn’t stop yelling about contrasts with bizarre music analogies . Pitiful commentary by them good thoughts from you.

Uh Endo is 31 he’s not going to become close to Fabinho. His long passing is actually decent but otherwise he is lacklustre in possession
Right about transfer situation. Too many managers are pressed to sign players as soon as they come to a club without looking at the players they have. Klopp used academy players to cover for injuries last season and changed style of play to suit. Liverpool have adaptive players with a depth of ability.
Great video, I don't feel nervy at all with the no transfers, we have a great team
Great content buddy. Love it! Quality style
Fantastic video bruv! ❤
Delivered in entertaining manner!😁
Well Adam, you nailed the prediction of the Ipswich/Liverpool game!!!
It would have been embarrassing if they hadn't won, especially as you were so confident...
Great video Adam.
Followed you during your What Culture days and very happy to see you doing great things football related at Four Four Two 👍
i think we’ll see a lot of goals that i call the lampard goal, a winger or fullback gets in behind then the defenders run back to cover the striker then lampard would arrive on the edge of the box ahead of his marker and finish. Szoboszlai, macca and elliott are perfect for this arriving late tactic cus they have the ability to pick a corner and hit it
Precisely what I was thinking when looking at that Salah to Curtis assist. That's exactly how Lampard used to play
High hope for Arne slot. Wish him to succeed
🙏
This is a brilliant analysis thanks
Great analysis as always! Really looking forward to watching Slot's Reds.
Slot ball is really good, imagine we bring in the necessary signings needed, we'd be unstoppable
That free dessert for life is insane congrats on the sponsor
I'm a Liverpool fan and I'm not very concerned about the lack of transfers. Yes, it would be great to bring 1 or 2 valuable players, but Liverpool already have a great team and also a lot of promising youngsters. Arne Slot is good at developing young players, so the squad have enough depth to cover all competitions. So, with patience, the future sounds good for Liverpool
Omg you nailed it nit first half town stopped it got tired second half defo watched it
The one sponsor Ad I didn’t bother skipping. Well deserved.
Hello Fresh 🥘
Dest plays for PSV mate. Our left fullback was Hartman. You had Lopez , Hancko and even Geertruida on that position. Geertruida usually played as an inverted back on the opposite side
Tbf I am watching this before the Ipswich game
Not sure why everyone was expecting early transfer activity. It makes sense for Arne Slot to see the squad before any transfer needs are identified…
We've got two good options for every position in Slot's style so far. It's only habitual spenders like me old ma that are worried.
We love our massive nerd Adam Clery!
Been waiting for this since forever 😩
Slot is just like an overqualified assistant coach who should be an assistant coach for a top class coach imo. He has a great understanding of football but I would be surprised if he gets into title shots easily like klopp did. There is that x factor that klopp injects to his players the sheer amount of comebacks and late goals under klopp is proof for that. I'm waiting to see how he responds when the team is behind by a goal. So far he has a patient approach to football, I'm curious to see if the football stats the same or they play with urgency. I hope he proves me wrong
Does it Gareth?!!!!!!😂😂😂
I have said this elsewhere, but it warrants repetition - much better a coach who improves the whole squad that a manager who tries to improve the team one position at a time by transfers.
Great content and great analysis 👍
Can never slag off full throttle action football!
I hope this side faces Real Madrid and Leverkusen!
Here's to heart racing football!
The proof will be in the pudding. To win the fans he only needs to win the premier leagye & champions league, so no pressure 😂
@@EaglesNest1984 Slot WILL adapt. Trust me. If there is any similarity between him and Klopp it's that ability.
@@CraigTheBrute-yf7no Such is life at Liverpool FC.
Great video mate
Great video! Also, JJ Bull wants his presenting style back!
I just watched this just now! Like slot says post match. First half was winning the individual battle. And we didn't do it! Second half, smashed it. Slot could be a prem genius!!! ❤❤❤
Brilliant analysis as always. YNWA
Do you play Football Manager? I would love to see the in-depth tactical videos if you do.
TH-camr RDF tactics has one on Slot's Feyenoord that really gets close to the mark and will win you games.
@@HetAppelMoesjeI feel like slots tactic relative to fm are kind of like a vertical or direct tiki taka style
@@liam3104 it is, with constant overloads and lots of 1v1s for the wingers. High work rate is a must!
That is seriously interesting analysis from FourFourTwo's excellent Adam Clery. ⚽
Slot needs some time to bed in. He is a modern, intellectual Football coach. Yet another one to come out of the Dutch School. Not a bullshitter like his compatriot ten Hag. 🤔
Elite Football is an intellectual tussle - a battle of wits! It is not just about power, pace, marquee signings and spending might.
Am from Uganda east Africa I love your content
“…does it, Gareth?!” So so true haha
I don’t know why more goalkeepers haven’t become great coaches. I played as an outfield player (6) for school but as as a goalkeeper at club and provincial level. I found my understanding of defensive positioning was far above most of my teammates as understanding what the keeper needs to keep a clean sheet is what I understood best. Granted my attacking understanding was probably limited.
Theoretically, this whole squad is a new signing with a new manager. Wishing Slot all the success.
best analysis videos on the web
Brilliant video respect brother YNWA
Totally late to this one mate but I honestly love nerdy Adam.
Congratulations and interesting video. Lets see how much of this holds up v ipswich
You got it spot on!
One more than a double-u is a triple-u.
Don’t apologise for being nerdy. It’s why I am here!!
As a Liverpool fan, I'm more concerned about contract renewals than transfers tbh.
Very good video!
Would be interested to learn why the 'narrow edge of box' position suits Bradley but not Trent. Seems like Trent could be very dangerous from that sort of shooting position.
It's basically the De Bruyne position in attack. He could be lethal there.
Only thing I can think of is that Trent isn't necessarily good in tight spaces. We've seen him lose the ball a couple of times, so maybe that position would suit Bradley better?
@@pixlhoundthat's a ridiculous take. Trent has incredible close control.
@@martinkerrmusicI mean incredible is a bit of an exaggeration. He’s definitely better when he has more time on the ball
@@martinkerrmusic yeah, but forgets where he is and gets caught in possession. Try thinking about what has been said, rather than projecting next time.
he's the real deal
Didn’t see much change as he claimed in this video. Macca dropped deeper in between six and eight under Klopp last season and Szobo or Elliot operates higher up to give Trent space to drift inside. The only difference is Slot tried to play out of defense as much as possible which is slower buildup which didn’t work out in the fist half against Ipswich. Second half when Trent started launching the long pass is when Liverpool came to life. Didn’t mean Slot ball wouldn’t work but it is still pretty much imprinted Klopp’s football for now and it still works.
So 4-4-2 is back? (At least in possession... not sure it ever left when out of possession )
Always has been 😛
More like 3-4-4 with the goalkeeper included
And a different 3-4-4 than the Brighton one from the last few years.
@@Zefo_No yeah
Two
arne slot use dual 6, 6 as deep lying playmaker and other 6 as segunda volante (6 attacker), also inverted fullback. arne slot core strategy are exposing midfielder with pass and move from all of their midfielders and inverted fullback who drag into midfield when in possesions
love your content 👍🏼
This is exactly what happened v Ipswich as well, they tried to press, leaving 1v1 at the back, which Liverpool completely exploited. Great analysis.
Oops.
10:45 is that.. A false 8?
Surprise RAM?
I'll give you bonus marks for "dinner is saved!" high quality
Better than the analysis on the radio 5 commentary which was shocking. One minute she was saying it’s the same, the next she couldn’t stop yelling about contrasts with bizarre music analogies . Pitiful commentary by them good thoughts from you.
