The Dead played this venue again in July of 87 and I was in the front row. During US Blues I threw a jazz hands at Jerry, which caused him to crack up laughing. Yep, those were some fun times.
Roanoke '87 was my first show, July 8th. What a barn burner! Surprise attack On Roanoke, hippies in the town fountains after the first night. Phil gets on the radio and is like "everybody be good", ha! I walked outta there and said When is the next one?
if i could go back in time one of my wishes would be to experience the Wall of Sound in person. in this wish Owsley is at the show with me and he gots the good stickers! Thanks for sharing, you always make my day ;)
Agreed. I got lucky early. Blessed in fact. The "good stickers" were the reason for the show. Keep the faith. 🌎 Jerry is God. LSD saves. 🕉 Not Fade Away🕉 ⭕
I lived in the Roanoke Valley most of my life but never heard of the Dead until I caught the bus at Virginia Tech on 4/14/78. What a long, strange trip it’s been since then. A bit pissed my older brother didn’t turn me on to the Dead though he went to this show!
Hey Stefan! This shortlist includes material from both sets, but you're correct it's not the full show. You can check out the link in the description for John's blog post on it, he usually shares some thoughts about why he picks certain tracks for these compilations.
Thank You LMDJ 74 is my favorite Dead year ❤⚡💙💃💫🕺✌🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏾

Keith on the Fender Rhodes big river; outstanding. Would make brother Ray smile
🤑 my Yagyu (canine) died July 27 last year -
His four siblings and mother still miss him - he loved the Dead especially when I played along...
Aww so sorry your pup passed, sounds like he was a great one.
You have no idea - which is to say thank you - how much you matter, right now
Digging this Big River jam!

Oh man there were some great shows in Spring '78, I bet you had a killer time.
Listening 🎶 to this makes me feel Grateful to be alive today
Keith!!!
Is this the whole show? Or just the second set?
