@@lindahandley5267 Agreed...his energy and exuberance for fun just puts one in a happy mood listening to his music 🎶 who are your other favorite musicians?
Down By The River, Free Electric Band, It Never Rains In Southern California... That's all I know of Albert Hammond's songs. I know, those are the ones you'll hear on the radio, but still, a lot of my friends didn't know them until I started adding the first two to my campfire repertoire...
Another great video. I love your encyclopedic knowledge of rock music. I thought I knew a bunch of music trivia before I started watching your channel. Now I'm just a rookie. :)
He is a good song writer. Song writer loyalty is making more money than the singer who is singing others people song. Song writer loyalty is including radio play, movie and the used by anyone. The singer must tour and perform live show. Otherwise, singer can't be living on only record sale. He got the loyalty from Never rain in southern California. No doubt he is a very good song writer.
Have you done a video on Jonathan Edwards? That would be cool if you did. I remember when his only hit came out. I was in 6th grade. This girl brought a little radio to school, and when that song came out, she said "Ok, that word is almost here..." and we all laughed when he said "...I'll be DAMNED if you'll run mine". No one had ever used a cuss word in a popular song. We were amazed....hahaha.
there was the wonderful Latin American/Spanish version of USA for Africa when Albert co wrote and produced the song "Cantare Cantaras" credited to 'Hermanos' . A big anthemic song that should have had a full English version! (though they sing the chorus 'i will sing you will sing' near the end)
I did not know he was born in England! I'm from the US- I assumed he was American since he had the hit " It Never Rains in California ". " Gimne Dat Ding"? Lol- I love that song! ( according to the single it's arranged by Jim Sullivan) I own " One Moment in Time"- Will have to start looking at credits more. Get back with you in a year. 10:37
Gibraltar is not an island and it's really annoying when we're referred to in that way. Gibraltar is connected to the Iberian peninsula, by land, and is considered an isthmus.
Albert Hammond has always been a part of my life, a wonderful singer/songwriter.
The very best!
@@bluewave7120 He looks like a sweet man that liked to have fun!

Father of Jr.too./'s..!
He also has done a fantastic career in Spanish, very well known in South America with great songs.
Great information! All I really knew about Hammond was "It Never Rains In Southern California".
Glad you enjoyed it!
So many great songs in his repertoire. Genius.

My personal favorite which brings back the most memories is The free electric band 🎵
Ofc his son Jr by the same name is the famous guitar player for The Strokes
That was excellent.
It's good to hear that he is still doing well. Very interesting, most of which I didn't know about him. Thank You.
No problem!
Love this and❤ Albert Hammond! Also love the great Engelbert Humperdinck!❤

Royalties are even more better than loyalty, in a sense.
The song Memories will always be my best

Ha, saw Aswad in Glastonbury in 1982.... lots of mud in front of the stage...

Looks and sounds like George
Do you mean George Harrison?
