@@SamoSalamonMusic I’ve had another listen. It’s an exquisite solo, full of beautiful lines and ideas. I have a thing about over-loud rhythm sections and have stopped going to live gigs because of them.
Looks like an es 446, which became the Pat Martino model eventually. I used to have one of the very first ones made. Not sure, small screen, but pretty sure that is what he is playing. The 446 had a solid spruce top, I think the Martino was maple. They had a single piece mahogany back and sides, carved from one piece of wood, and the bracing on the solid top was carved into the wood, not glued on. It was a really light and very resonant instrument, so much so I could not play it live at high volumes, but it was very very nice...
I have to say after one week with him that his sound is really great .. maybe the sound of this video is not super good but i can guarentee that live is awsome, also on really fast tempos.. his playing is just soo clear and clean.
Very nice footage ! Jeff Ballard is a beast, plus I didn,t know he looked so alike bruce willis !
Yeah very unique - fantastic player!

Awesome
It’s a great solo, or what I could hear of it above the cymbals.
Well you know - live gig :)

@@bzbzob I found and early 70's Es-150 which looks just like it. Very different from a 50's Es-150.
Insane bpm turn almost any improvisor a mecanist.
Hmmm... yeah - interesting thought...
Its sad that Charles always uses such dark, reverby sound. I would love hearing him with a drier, more direct tone.
Yeah but thats his sound :)

I’ve seen him live, don’t let the video fool you, his tone is great!
