    I stayed here in 2017 and it was one of the best hotels I have ever experienced. Impeccable service every step of the way. The hotel staff even organised a surprise picnic for us at the summit of a nearby mountain, as they knew we would be hiking up the mountain that day. Watching this video brings back those wonderful memories.

      How good was the English utilised? Was the language barrier a problem or did they have English speaking staff?

    Very nice! I wouldn’t expect that interior from the outside. A very modern Japanese minimalism.

    Thanks for a great video. I visited Tokyo in 2008 and 2013. One of those visits I meandered into the Ritz in Tokyo. There is a high rise bar. I marveled at the prices, and enjoyed the nighttime view of the city in addition to a trio of Cuban singers performing. I will never forget. Maybe one trip I'll stay in a Ritz, because it is a fantastic group of properties.

    Always enjoy your video. Fantastic.
    Next time when/if you come to Kyoto, please try traditional Japanese inn, like Tawaraya Ryokan.
    Luxury western hotels in Japan, like this Ritz Carlton, are modern and beautiful as they have incorporated Japanese motif to the western interior, but submerging yourself to authentic local culture is also the ultimate luxury of foreign travel.
    It doesn’t have the same amenities but it’s the whole new language of staying.

      Towards the end of the footage we see a group of people hopping over some sort of footbridge, to cross the stream that runs in front of the hotel grounds into town. Who are these people: fellow hotel guests, or just locals /passersby?

      I love Japan - the place, the culture, the people’s discipline, and all it’s craziness. But I wouldn’t want to live there. I still prefer to have a work-life balance. But if you’re workaholic & want to spend 95% of your time in the workplace, 2% with family, 1% with friends, 1% with hobbies & 1% rest/sleep, then Japan is the place for you. LOL ✌️😅

    Very nice video as usual :)
    Ritz hotel are usually not my first choice, even if they are very classy. I must say that this one seems to be a really nice choice for Kyoto. I love the entrance with the water, and the spa seems quite enjoyable. I think you need to invest in japanese toilets for your home, you seems obsessed with these technological wonders :D (and I understand completely)
    The room if nice, and the bed seems very confortable. It seems that the restaurant is quite noisy during breakfast, although..
    I am so glad to have the opportunity to finally try Qatar business class, as I've booked one return ticket from Paris to Bali (amazing sales) for me and my future wife, as we will get married in Bali :) A nice way to travel, and awesome opportunity to try the business class inside the A330, Dreamliner and A380.. I just hope that they will change the A330 for the A350 .. ;)
    Again, thanks for your reports.. There is absolutely no better way to start the week-end :)

    • @luxurytravelexpert
      @luxurytravelexpert  8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thank you for your kind comment. IMHO, the 2 best hotels in Tokyo are Aman Tokyo (phenomenal hotel, very expensive though, make sure you book via Virtuoso for free VIP amenities) and Andaz Tokyo. Qatar Airways is having an incredible Business Class sale right now (you can read all about it on my blog) but you need to book by Sunday. Alternatively, JAL and ANA offer great Business Class cabins as well and fly direct from Paris to Tokyo. Enjoy Japan!

    • @ThatOneFlyer
      @ThatOneFlyer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +the Luxury Travel Expert Thanks a lot for your suggestion! I'll make sure to listen to them, I think I'll probably go for JAL, as I've never been on their new business, when on Qatar I've been on plenty of times, I'll make sure to check these hotels out as well! Thanks for helping out, have a great day! See you then.

      +the Luxury Travel Expert Hey man! I've looked up to your suggestions, and I found everything to be lovely, but not everyone seems to be liking the ANA bc sadly, and JAL is slightly above our price, which other airlines would you consider? would CathayPacific make us have an enjoyable flight? Thanks again for your kind help.

    • @luxurytravelexpert
      @luxurytravelexpert  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ThatOneFlyer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hope there is not too much big name hotel construction going on in Kyoto. I would prefer them to keep to small discrete places and ryoukan. I have heard though they are increasingly lifting the height restriction on buildings. A real shame. Part of the destruction of the old city. Most of the damage, though, was already done in the 1980s. Even in 1970 it was still a city that consisted almost entirely of slanted roofs over the houses.

Don't lock yourself in the hotel room, hotel gym etc, which are the same everywhere.

      Although I stayed at Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong, I stayed for the first time with the warmest welcome so I did not understand the procedure and I think that the staff was Japanese but it was a staff of a woman who says stuff on the top line. I still remember what I said at that time. That was a two day stay from the day before the typhoon hit the Hong Kong last August. I thought that I was not used to it for the first time The female staff was a way of looking up on my eyes that I would not have stayed at Ritz Carlton. It was the lowest staff. I think that I will never stay with you twice. I think that it is a bit too expensive.
