There is a recent PSP Gensō Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Tok fan translation patch 2012 last in the Suikoden series. Wish Level 5 would buy the rights for Suikoden and remake them all (minus 4 and Tactics) but add construction elements when expanding HQs like woodwork brick laying and so on fixing up the HQ in 3, plastering painting ect

Unfortunately Grandia 1 hd remaster has so many issues with graphics being worse than on saturn as it used inferior PS1 copy of the game, i encountered a bug of game randomly crashing when entering/exiting towns as that is when game changes resolution between town map and world map which can cause a crash as PC games do not like resolution changes in that manner. I still managed to 100% the game with all them issues but I really wished they had not overpromised and under delivered with the HD remaster.

I must say I was shocked to Legend of Legaia didn't sneak it's way on here-! I got a Ambernic RG280v for PSX/GBA emulation- and I will for sure be playing Shining Soul on it! I was so busy playing Golden Sun, Breath of Fire 2, Pokemon Gold, and Advanced Wars over and over- I could never remember what freaking game my cousin always played on his GBA- and it hit me like a truck when this video started with Shining Soul!

The PS1 and 2 were truly a great time to enjoy rpgs.

Excited to grab some grub, sit down and watch this!
What I will say, in regards to your introduction statement from my personal viewpoint:
Even though you've never really talked much about JRPGs since I've been watching, I actually noticed your fondness for the scene with a lot of the "pseudo-references" to popular ones (or at least ones I know of) through fonts, intro inspirations etc. Enough so in fact, to actually check your channel from BEFORE I started watching, to see if you'd ever covered any JRPG type stuff previously, before the Resident Evil and Silent Hill retrospectives!
Needless to say, regardless of all of that, to ME at least, as an absolute fan of your content, I could definitely tell you were a JRPG fan, even if it went unspoken on the Survival Horror stuff a lot, so I see this video here is an absolute *WIN*.
Again, super excited to grab some monch and watch through all of this tonight!
And I wouldn't mind seeing more content on different genres of games you love in the future! Your commentary on any game you cover that I've played/haven't have always been interesting and insightful to me, and even inspired me to go back to older games I used to practically worship as a kid, and pop 'em in for my own "retrospective" take on them, like the entire 3D Legend of Zelda line-up in release order and the Metroid Prime Trilogy! (As well as any of the 2D games I could readily get my hands on!!!)
Thanks for the stellar content as always Jared; keep on rocking,
    - Gen

You are my favourite new find in TH-cam. Funny how you started explaining how you popped in either survival horror or RPGs when you were young. That is 100% me and i know some other channels who are 100% split between these two genres since childhood. (y)

Hey I dunno if you've heard of the game or if I missed it in your videos but you may like Skies of Arcadia. The original game was for the Dreamcast and it was remastered onto the GameCube. I also feel that it's SUPER underrated and was one of my favorite RPGs of that era, just a suggestion if you wanna check it out if you haven't already

So many RPG games have many memories attached to them, the time need to complete can almost bookend parts of your life. Legend of Dragoon was mine and my late brothers favorite, I distinctly remember the celebration we would have when completing a disc, and how much of an ass that divine dragon was. I learned recently that BluePoint is working on the remake of LoD, its in good hands.
Shining Soul 1 & 2 hold a special place in my heart too, I remember taking a three day train ride with only our phones to keep us preoccupied, so four of us got the MyBoy Emulator and used bluetooth to play four player Shining Soul 2, and also Four Swords of course.
A terribly underrated gem in my book, is Lost Odyssey. An RPG with nothing fresh mechanics-wise, but the unique setting, the animated lore segments, and the art by Takehiko Inoue or Slam Dunk and Vagabond Fame made it a sight for sore eyes on the Xbox360. I remember christmas shopping and seeing it in a bargain bin for $6 at gamestop in 2008, I had lost my taste for RPGs at the time, but flicking it aside I noticed the weight that only a four-disc case could have. That alone was why I bought it. And that alone was what rekindled the RPG fan in me. It's a very emotional and weird at times kind of game. Its even ported to XBone, with no disc switching needed, and good graphics for a 15 year old game.

I have played countless JRPGs and somehow never played Suikoden or Legend of dragoon. Upon playing and beating Suikoden 1-3, I loved 2 but 1 ended up becoming one of my favorite games ever. This is a rare feat, and it wouldn't have happened without this video! Slowly chipping my way through all the games in this vid, and they are all great. Thanks so much, love your content.

Thank you for shining a light on these overlooked games! I'm not a big RPG fan but these will still be good for when I'm looking to try something new. As for multiplayer Shining Soul 2, I can testify it's great for casual co-op and decent for long-term; although the difficulty increase is a bit harsh without grinding.
