2006 Prius parking brake light on then car stop while driving, the brakes works fine . Then after the car stop I turned it on and works again, after 2 minutes maybe the brake light again. The light is red and only says "brake". What is the problem?
We too live in the rust belt and our experience is completely different with our car making it 17 years and 240k (5y/35k in rust belt) on original parts, which are still, just barely, serviceable.
I just replace my brakes because I figured that they were past due as I have over 600K miles on my Prius C. To my surprise I still had a good amount of pads and shoes left.
@@jerrybowen1635 Around here with all the salt that they use on the roads the vents in the rotors tend to plug up with rust which causes premature warping of the rotors and the caliper slide pins like to rust solid and seize up wearing the pads unevenly. I am constantly having to replace caliper brackets because the pins are welded in place with rust. This is not the fault of the prius, all vehicles around her do this. I can't wait to move eventually. I live in the hills south of Buffalo, what the locals consider "ski country" We probably get about twice as much snow as buffalo. Cars around here are in a constant saltwater bath all winter long.
I am having a problem with my Prius 07' model. The parking break sign pops up randomly and then the breaks don't work... There is no error detected by the scanning device. What would you suggest?

Thank you very informative video
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Here in the rust belt prius brakes don't last any longer than a standard car. I've gone through 2 sets of brakes in the 3 years i have owned my prius.

That sounds very dangerous! I would find a local service center and have it looked at right away.
How to open the brake fluid lid ? Does it pull up or it screw out?
You pry it off, but it is stiff.
Good video! Mine is a 2007. Is that Gen. 2?
