Thank you so much for a well-done and detailed video. My first mounted batik on Ginwashi paper is now drying. I mounted it on hot press Fabriano paper using wallpaper paste just to see if it would work. When I saw some buckling, I wet the back of the watercolor paper and put some heavy flat items on it and left it to dry. It's nice to hear you mounted yours on a matboard. You've given me hope. I have less fear about checking my painting now!
Thank you so much for your very informative video. I'm just learning about this process. I've signed up for an online class and I can't wait to start. Also a local gallery here in St. Augustine, Florida will be featuring a demo soon. Can't wait.
Excited that you are going to explore watercolor batik painting! If you ever have questions or comments that I can help you with you can contact me through my website magaliarose.com. Have fun!
Such a wonderful and detailed video! Just did my first ever batik painting and fell in love with the process. I so appreciate your wonderful explanations on the entire process. I do poured watercolors and the theory working in values is very similar to batik tho you use masking fluid to preserve your value areas. I think I prefer the rather antique look of batik so much more. Can't wait to get started!
Wonderful to hear from you, Linda! I really hope the watercolor batik 'bug' has bitten you as the process has given me so much. I began working with traditional watercolor materials and techniques and also enjoyed pours. About 7 years ago my sister sent me an article from an art magazine and a letter from a woman she worked with explaining the process. After experimenting and refining those methods to my own I now almost exclusively work with wax and watercolor. I am really trying to engage other artists to give it a try and thank you for letting me know that you are beginning your watercolor batik journey!
