The secret is to have the stream deck button reset the panel first. When you press the request docking button, have the commands tab left twice first to ensure it's in the default position, then it can go through the rest of the commands. This is how voice attack does it, and it works, regardless of where you are in the panel. EDIT: I see someone already made the suggestion.
You dont need to make those complicated multi-actions for the fighter. You can set key-bindings in the settings, for deploying a fighter, let it attack/defend or call it back etc (All the fighter commands exept switch controlls (i think)). So it would be way easier to use the hotkey.
Glorious to hear your voice again CMDR!!!! Haha Muller Terminal - very topical. I just need an Elite Dangerous Branded Stream Deck now. You reading Elgato?
I've actually bought a program for my phone called Matric. It hosts off the PC and you can build fully custom (with lots of different size/shape buttons) dashboard to do exactly what the streamdeck does, but without the streamdeck price tag. I even have a "punch it Chewy!" for skipping to FSD. Well worth the time (and cheaper!)
It's VERY unfortunate that you folks didn't better document the Elite Dangerous Stream Deck Plug-In (available via GitHub). I have no idea how to get this thing to work properly with Elite and, so far, it won't even talk to Elite this way unless I revert to the instructions you DID elect to provide in your video. A video on getting the Plug-In to work would be much, much more useful for those of us starting out using SD with ED!
I know this is a really old thread but i wanted to say thank you and I was able to write a macro that was successful for requesting docking that works every time.
To solve your problem with menus not being in the right spot after they have executed you have to decide on a default position and have the macro go back to it after it executes what you want. That way after the macro all panels will be at default position. That does require when you use the panels manually for you to return to default as well.
Good work, Commanders. I play in VR, so I use Voice Attack, but I have to program it in the exact same fashion. Sure it takes time, and it can be frustrating, but it is worth it once you get it right. It's kinda like working deep in the bowels of your ship. Makes things a little more personal. Take care Commanders. It's a Dangerous galaxy! o7
@@GhostGiraffe Yes, the Han Solo moments! Same reason I like driving in a snow storm at night with the lights on! Feels just like traveling though Hyperspace in the Millennium Falcon!
Perhaps “reset” the panels each macro execution. Like... scrolling into a limit, like the beginning or end, so your guarantied to be at a known point in the menu.
Unrelated but this is exactly how one guy beat sekiro: Shadows die twice in two hours while blindfolded. He had tricks to know exactly where he was, and memorized the moves from one checkpoint to the next
I've used voice attack for so long and I still fly into stations without requesting docking because I touched the left panel before running my "request" dock macro. At least it doesn't break as bad as that wing beacon one lol
Same! I only recently discovered the “Run Diagnostics” command which resets all your menus to their default state so macros don’t break. Game changer haha
Hi, I bought the 15-key stream deck to use it with elite dangerous, seeing your video I find it very useful, but I can't find the profiles to load directly in the stream deck, could you tell me how to do it? thank you
Sparks: The role menu where you launch a fighter from has a behaviour you can exploit to make more reliable macros. The behaviour is that when you scroll UP the menu list, when you reach the top of the list it does NOT loop to the bottom. If you're at the top of the list, you stay at the top of the list even when pressing up again. (Can you see where this is going?) So, ASSUME that you're always going to appear at the bottom of any menu panel, issue enough UP commands so you can be sure you are at the top, then execute the correct number of down commands to get to the option you want. This makes programming the menus even more of a pain, but I've found this technique to be much more reliable.
Voice Attack backtracks the commands, so you say "Request Docking" and it does the full macro, then does it in reverse again to set it back to the starting point
I want a voice hail (or voice comms request) button. Right now You can click on a player, go-to the social tab, and hit voice comms on anyone in site. I just want a button. Click the n the other player, hit the button. --- can't macro it because the menu navigation changes depending on wing/multi/ or other ships in LOS.
@Ghost Giraffe. Hey, I cannot import your profile. Maybe you only packed the folders of the profiles, because the file type is not recognized by my elgato. Only as folders. (have the same as you). Would you please export the profiles directly from the stream deck and make them available again. I would love to use them because i want to dive a bit deeper into e:d. Thx 4 ur content!! greetings
I didn't understand how to make the Request Landing button macro. I get to the point where I create the multiaction button, but how do I create those hotkey combinations?
@@ProjectFraz Oh I get it. The list and cost of peripherals and software to 'enhance your gaming experience' is getting ridiculously long. Complaining about the price of a game does not compare to the cost of all the other 'bits'
Someone mentioned there’s an app that is very similar. But if you mean an app for the stream deck on your phone then there is but it costs money sooo... I wish this thing wasn’t so expensive in the first place
I downloaded the zips for the profiles and button images which I thank you for. How do you actually import the profiles into the Stream Deck now? Am I missing something which should be obvious?
@@GhostGiraffe Please pardon me for not seeing what I should actually be double clicking. I only see folders which include state.png files after I extracted the EliteStreamDeck-master zip file.
The stream deck profiles should be their own format. All the other stuff are images for buttons that you can use. And no worries about questions! That’s what we are here fir
@@GhostGiraffe When I extract the content from the .zips you end up with folders, not actual "*.streamDeckProfile" files. I am unable to import them. Maybe I'm missing something too? BTW, thanks for the great video!
Most of the files are the buttons but the stream deck profiles are in there. Maybe so a file type search? Let me know what you find. Also remember you’ll have to rebind what ever you have bound for your game to the stream deck I’ve made
So a long long LONG time ago, there was a cool system I used called ROCCAT. I had a tablet sitting next to my HOTAS and it had buttons for macros. Then they killed it. Boo! Anyway, it worked alot like this but you didnt have to buy the doomahickey keyboard.
By the time the next space tourism video comes out, it will be the year the game is set
Too true! We had a video just about ready but the drive failed...

Unfortunately this doesn't work anymore. It wraps around to the opposite end. Doesn't seem to be anyway to reset the panel now.
I have never seen a stream deck before using it for gaming looks incredible

I think you could probably scroll left/up in the panels to reset the positioning of the cursor. That way all your macros should work fine.

amazing video guys, just found you thanks to reddit
Welcome! Hope you’ll enjoy our science videos too :)
Nice, with the Devs build this into the game so you don’t need a line of commends to so stuff.
That looks like a ship that would be from Mad Max shooting an aurora borealis! 😂
How did y’all add the elite dangerous action on the side panel?
Great video. Not sure why you would pay for a stream deck in a universe where both voice attack and hotas exists
Because streamdecks can be used for more than just elite dangerous.

What about another macro that resets the center panel?

Aww thanks!
Can this be possible for ps4 also? Like a DYI project
Pushing buttons!
Guys, for the request docking you don’t make any sense to someone trying this for the first time. Write it out? With what? A hot key?
is it just me or do these 2 sound exactly like Wiz and Boomstick?
I’ll have to write out?
this is super useful!
Add actions to each macro to reset the panel it uses.
Love the animated profile pic
That's what I do with voice attack. As soon as the macro functions, everything goes back to normal. Works well for most things.
I’ll look into that! Thanks guys
Wish there was a way to do it on my keyboard without having to go through that menu
Please God lets someone have worked out how to do this for PP
Is there a way to use this on a separate device? Like using an old android tablet?
