I have the beeman in .177 for the price and features it's been a wonderful gun. The 12 shot magazine (mine came with 2) and 3000 psi, also the Allen key in the back of the receiver that adjusts power. In my opinion this is one of the better guns to start out in pcp. Compared to my gauntlet it's much more user friendly. My brother who is stupid literally he is stupid in every way. Figured out the beeman very fast. Accuracy of it is very good within 50 yards using crosman premier hollow points and it's been fine on squirrels and rabbits. I have a compressor since I own many air guns.

My Beeman Chief 2 synthetic came with a loose barrel band and stock screw. If you do not align the barrel and tighten it really good you will not hit anything you are aiming at no matter if you use the standard sights or a scope. You will also need to tighten the stock screw so it it locks the action to the stock tightly. I went nuts trying to zero in a scope. it could not hit paper at 25 yards. I tried the open sights and got on paper but it was so far out of range it maxed out the rear sight settings and still not even close to zero. I had to play around with my Beeman's barrel band and waste a lot of pellets to get it to finally shoot decently. I know you get what you pay for but this kind of stuff is lack of quality control during assembly not a poor parts issue. I would also like to mention that the rear sight is really close to the back of the rifle and if you have a long scope you want to mount you need to either remove the rear sight or get a set of high scope rings that will allow the scope to clear the rear sight. Even then good luck putting scope covers on. It shoots ok for a budget pcp air rifle once your get all the bugs out of it. Mine is not an air leaker so that is a plus.

Do you think the Xisico is a better choice. Then the maximus and beeman ?

I really liked this video! Am thinking of getting the maximus in not too distant future as an entry to PCP's for my nephew as they're priced quiet well too, not as cheap as the Chinese airguns where I am but am looking for a quality entry level PCP. Am also very interested in the gravity fed magazine, is that a custom item from someone whom makes 3D printed parts? Would like to see a more in depth review of the maximus. Much thanks!

Thank you for this video Derrick please tell me where you got the magazine for the Maximus I have the Maximus in .22 it’s my go to rifle for pest control ! The reason why It’s under 45” and incredibly lightweight Manuel safety with and you get over 20 foot per pounds at the muzzle 👍🏻for the price it’s one the best air rifles in the market thank you Benjamin

I have the same two rifles on my kitchen table. They both have their charms. The Beeman has the edge in power, but it’s a bear to hand pump. Mine is shooting 14.3 grain pellets over 900 fps and 21 grain slugs at close to 800. I may be able to get more out of it yet. It’s a little too soon to tell.
The Maximus is lighter and has more readily available options for customization. It also , in my opinion, more efficiently dispenses air. Mine is shooting 14.3 grain pellets at the advertised 840 to 850fps. It’s as loud without a moderator as the Beeman with one. The Benjamin’s barrel is about three inches longer at about twenty four inches and the Beeman is 21 and change. That has somewhat to do with it ,along with design efficiency. The Maximus is very easy to top off with a hand pump.
The finish quality on the barrel and tube is too rough. This needs addressed by Benjamin/Crosman. The Beeman’s finish puts it to shame.
All in all, I’m not about to part with either. I like having the options to modify the Maximus as much as I like getting the Beeman for $180 and not needing to do anything but adjust it. It’s also pretty nice to have another budget rifle for visitors if you and a friend want to plink a bit.

A bear to hand pump? Granted, it has a 3000 psi max. But it is only 136cc!!!!
I have the .177, same air tank, and it takes 100 pumps from zero to 2000 psi. Then another 50 pumps from 2000 psi to3000 psi. I use a Hill mk4 hand pump. I am 65 and disabled. But can also hand pump my avengers all the way to 4350 psi. They have 180 cc reservoirs. Have also hand pumped my hatsan bt65 to 3000 psi. 255 cc tank.
Even though hand pump is not difficult, it does take a few minutes. So I got a scuba tank and fill adapter. Fills the beeman, hatsan, and my buldog in a mater of seconds. $120 for used scuba tank with fresh hydro and visual. Got the fill adapter from shmamazon for $50. Cost $8 to fill 80cuft tank at local dive shop.

Great comparison Derrick! If the JSB's work better in the Beeman, did you get a chance to try the JSB exact express 14.35? Derrick we appreciate your honesty! If a person spent the same $$ to improve the Beeman as you did on the Maximus, $ to $ which is the better buy and shooter? Maximus $219, + GravMag $50, + trigger $??, + Moderator $??.

Seems like Beeman Chief 2 is better deal at $170 (or less with discount). I just need an air gun to practice shooting without going to range and Beeman meets that need. Plus more potential for increased power mod with 3000 PSI tank.
