Glad you left the patch panel and cables, nice future proofing for the next resident. When I sold a previous flat I left similar and the next owner loved it!
Ah, shucks. It's really interesting to see the before and after... But my mind can't help but think it'd have been so nice to see the 'during' as well! Patching up the walls, tearing out the current installation, etc. I do completely understand that you've been busy with, oh I don't know, _moving_, though. Can't wait for the networking setup at your new place!
This is why I like my design of how home automation works; If my smart gear dies the lights still work. You always need to think of the next person I say.
Generally with my setup this is the case, I was slightly oversimplifying my explanation for the sake of this video - if the Shelly loses connection to the MQTT broker, it'll fall back to working as an on/off relay. Still not the sort of thing I'd want to leave installed for an unsuspecting new owner though.
Not fun! Ended up buying a box to move it in which could barely take the weight and then needed a van to fit it. Moved it to my parents house for storage while we were moving, only just got the motivation to get it back from them a few days ago! At least now I have an attic so will be keeping the boxes for any TVs or other awkward large items I might need to move/sell going forward!
Following your videos as a lurker for quite a while now i can't help but question, what do you do for a living? You must earn quite a good paycheck to be able to invest into all that stuff :) Looking forward to see how you build out your new house.
He has left most of it, except the cable to the ceiling mounted access point. Also, for the cables that were hanging out of wall he put proper sockets for them.
Hi Cameron, where did you get the rack at th-cam.com/video/4XEfjjRSNg0/w-d-xo.html it is 03:54 into the video. Please let me know, looking for something like that
Haha you've got folks that take the light bulbs with them and then people like Cameron making sure the in-wall speaker cable is neatly terminated!
I cant wait for all of the networking in the new place!
Looking forward to your future home network

Wishing you strength, brother! Amazing project! Fascinating that you are not considered outsourcing 😂😂😂
Well done Cameron very entertaining channel 👌
Should be 300mm away from light fixtures to your smoke alarm btw!
I wish I was able to purchase this flat. I would of insisted everything stay behind
Might be a random one Cameron but what paint/colour did you use in the lounge thanks? - Look forward to the update in the new property.
It's Dulux "Polished Pebble" 😊
I'm well over halfway of the video, and for some inexplicable reason I'm stone cold sober...
How was it moving the TV?!😊

I remember watching the first install video the week it came out. We've been through the whole trip with you.
