I'm watching the video and thinking: what's the point? None of these dolls end up being sold; the ones in toy stores are of basic quality, so I don't understand the hypocrisy of selling a world that exists only for photography and museums
This is why I'm alittle confused by it's existence. I love seeing everything, don't get me wrong, but I'm like what's the point of all that if people can't even own it??

I have a love/hate relationship with BarbieStyle. What I love: EVERYTHING! The attention to detail and realism is incredible. What I hate: That Mattel doesn't offer these things to collectors. :( Seriously, though, I love BarbieStyle!
If they were they’d be considered too expensive for children. It’s 65 years later and basic Barbie dolls are still within ten dollars of the original price.
@@momokoblue8032 I disagree due to the fact that collector dolls, who are quite expensive, still don't have that care put into them, it's obvious the decrease in quality that started in the 2010's was due to Mattel losing the Disney money, its true that we are seeing a slow increase in clothes quality from Mattel, but I doubt it will ever reach the vintage quality.
@@momokoblue8032if you think about it, a Barbie doll used to sell for $3 in '59, that’s about $33 in today’s money. Meanwhile, the most expensive fashion sets sold for $5, that’s about $54 today. It was never really cheap to begin with.
It’s honestly comical that they’re flaunting these beautiful pieces and yet the clothes on the actual dolls that they actually sell aren’t remotely as nice. It’s sort of a bait-and-switch. Ultimately, Mattel is answerable to shareholders not to customers.
Shareholders often ruin things. They don’t understand the importance of the original designs and direction of the company. It’s disappointing, frustrating and mildly infuriating. If Barbie wasn’t so big, it would have tanked (and it may still happen, especially if another Bratz type doll comes along with the more conservative style. Clothing design and brand loyalty were the main components keeping Barbie afloat when Bratz peaked; the design influence vs. target age demographic wasn’t aligned well for most parents and they’d grown up with Barbie. This isn’t always going to happen, especially when Barbie keeps taking hits on ethics. She needs ethics classes and a clothing and accessories design overhaul, especially with regard to quality (but also her clothing isn’t what it used to be and it doesn’t fit the current fashion aesthetic). A brand for the ages should have distinct fashion at every generation so those looks become iconic representation of the era as they age, instead of just looking dated. They should also hold up and the quality is horrible. It’s fast fashion for a designer brand at designer prices. Might as well just let the Kardashians drop ship some knockoffs, as they do.Barbie is giving Kardashian/Jenner scam.
It’s true. Look at monster high collector dolls. They’re cheap and all have mermaid dresses. Mattel thinks Saran and full articulation with the monster high name attached to it justifies it enough to be 50+ dollars.
its so awesome to see these talented people be passionate about barbie. i just wish that this level of quality and detail was reflected in playline dolls

Mattel flaunting these designs as revolutionary when mga gives this detail and quality for playline dolls at the same or smaller price point I just have to roll my eyes
When I was young and Barbie was also, the clothes were outstanding. That's why they sell for huge prices today. What Mattel turns out now isn't even real material. It's made of recycled plastic. For my grandchildren, I make their Barbie clothes. There will be no clothes to get excited about when they get my age. I'm glad you guys have fun doing all this Barbie stuff like I did when I was young. Too bad children today will never experience this. Mattel should be ashamed with the quality they now use.
I stopped following Barbie Style IG because it mad me angry. We will never get any of these fashions or dolls or have anything close to it at an affordable price. Mattel has to be so cheap that consumers can’t have access to these talented designers’ clothing, dolls, and furniture. It sucks because growing up most of the dolls & accessories shown in ad/ print was available to purchase. Barbie needs to go back and capitalize on fashion packs with current designs. And tlc their hair and makeup. It took Mattel about a decade to finally listen to collectors to bring back Barbiecore and it will take another decade for them to bring back Barbie fashions.
No matter how much the barbie team tries to market her as a fashion doll, what we see on shelves is what truly matters. The BarbieStyle page is more of an delusional daydream than anything close to reality. This is not the quality and care they put into the real products and it’s frustrating to watch.
They released a few barbie style dolls and fashion packs. And those were pretty nice, and the price reflected it too. 100 for a doll and 25 for a fashion pack. Which is reasonable if you consider the quality.
@MyFroggyStuff is gonna love this! It's a shame these are not made for collectors in limited runs. Because I know they will be expensive but some collectors will not mind that at all.
ehh, something ain’t adding up. the quality of clothing most barbie dolls I see these days is trash. printed on details, thin, and sometimes even painted onto the actual doll.

I am so thrilled watching artists adore the work they do with Barbie. I think Barbie style would b amazing having a long term collaboration with an animation/puppeteer team. I think ppl would adore seeing these dolls & fashions in a skit. My favourite clips on social media r ppl having their dolls act out a dramatic scene.
One of them sums it up a few minutes in, they can't do it in production but in Barbie Style they can do whatever they like. We are not meant to get this type of detail in person. It's a fantasy to get people excited about the brand. If Barbie can't be trendy and high quality IRL at least she can fake it on Instagram. I can appreciate the artistry that goes into the scenery and doll designs, but it's a team of professionals, it's SUPPOSED to look great. I personally can't get past the corporation-ness of it all despite the pretty pictures so I don't follow the IG, however it was refreshing to see some faces behind all the work.
I think that's sort of why I can't fully get into Barbie Style. It's very lovely but you quickly become aware of how it's all just a marketing front mostly for big brand fashion names to push their products, but just through Barbie. The everyday Barbie fan/collector doesn't even benefit at all. It's basically just a Fashion Magazine using dolls.
It reflects the current state of our society, where many people project a false image of perfection on social media, masking a reality that is often vastly different.
