Giovanni was my teacher for eight years. I feel grateful for those valuable years of wisdom as well as getting to hear his wonderful voice up close and personal. He is missed.
A great artist from another world, now forgotten--a world of taste and beauty, a world of appreciation for talent and the desire to elevate minds. Now all gone, replaced by pop screaming nonsense and an imitation of opera so bad that if you cared for real opera you would never walk into the Met ever again. And we are are left with memories of what it was to sing with beauty and strength, trying to lift humanity up. Thank God for the memories.

It was about 55 years ago, I'll always remember being there with my dad, and Maestro Consiglio's area great rendition of "Celeste Aida".
Lucky you! He was also the voice teacher of best friend, Camille Capasso. I had the privilege of attending one of her lessons with maestro Consiglio. Sheer magic.

Ecco comme si deve cantare questo brano. Beaucoup de ténors ont tendance à vociférer. Là c'est la juste interprétation, mesure, intention , sobriété , légato tout y est bravo.
This the correct fact for this aria and even though we are used to Pavorotti who was wonderful no doubt but this brings a whole new dimension of dynamics, Bravo!!
I wish all the young upcoming tenors would learn from, the old style singing, like Consiglio, no wobble ( unessesary) vibrato, and attention to the texture ( tessetura ), to many young brilliant voices, taking on to much to soon, destroying the voice, slipping into short cuts, using the vocal cords, without a solid technic , careers cut short.

I'm glad Neil knew him, and I agree 100%. A real Spinto, and the voice was huge and beautiful, but, had no luck. This Nessun dorma, one of the finest.
