    This piece is so good I had to reply once again and of course the video is extremely helpful. It is a very snug fit to get in so be patient. The piece is malleable and as such you do need to put a bit of pressure on it to get it to sit all the way down. Once it is in it is a brilliant fix.

    Nice! I didn't have this issue but instead my temperature gauge stopped working. These clusters are quite serviceable, I was able to source a new servo motor for the gauge and replace it with just a bit of soldering.

    Many thanks indeed. I've just fixed mine after watching your video. I had to flex quite hard in the new plastic part for it to fit as other commenters have mentioned, but we got there. Always excellent videos and very much appreciated.

    Verry good fix, the old tabs where easy to remove, breaks immediately en easy to cut with a sharp knife. Be carefull when replacing the back. By me the plastic spring at the and of the push button was a bit twisted and I had to give it a little turn to fix everything together. Thank you verry much.

    Thanks BimmerZen. It was a little challenging to put inside. However, I realised squeezing the top of the fitting to get the bottom to wrap around the lower button and then gently inching it in got it done. It definitely works, not as easy as the original, but feels sturdy.

    I know the video is regarding an E46, but wondering if this is the same fix for 325i regarding the small part? Thanks

    Very nice. Is the test menu normally available on all e46 n42? Or do you need coding to activate it?

      It's available on all E46 models.

    Hi, do you know if it is possible to remove the coolant temperature gauge and put an external 51mm one in that place?
    regards!

    If i want to change all this part în my car , from other car does have ani problems whith the imobilizer ? Or i must find the same Code of clock??

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, you can use any E46 dashboard that looks the same. EWS (immobiliser) is a separate module, so no problem there. On the E46, the mileage info is stored in the instrument cluster (IC) and the light control module (LCM). If you replace the instrument cluster, the mileage in the LCM will be different than the one stored in the IC, so the "tamper dot" will light up on the IC next to the mileage reading. Not sure if the IC can be reprogrammed, but the LCM can be reprogrammed with the new IC mileage with a special cable and software (BMW Scanner 1.4).

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, not sure what the reason would be. Check all the connections and make sure there are no debris inside the cluster as that could probably get stuck in the mechanism.

    I purchased the new 3d part so I could fix setting the time. I asked my mechanic about this and he said if I disconnect the dashboard I will upset the odometer and get a fault code. He wanted $300 to pull the dash and put in the new part. I trust this mechanic but does anyone now if you get any issues after you reconnect the dash?

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should not have any issues if you disconnect the battery and handle the cluster with caution. No codes are set if you disconnect the cluster. If you replace the whole cluster with a different one you could have issues with odometer, because mileage stored in the new cluster will be different than the mileage stored in other modules and the tamper indicator will light up. Different cluster might also need recoding to match the functions on your car.

      Thank you so much for this video and link to the part. I am a 61 year old women who owns a 2006 E46 M3 and lost setting the clock recently and bothered me seeing the wrong time. I just did the procedure with the part and it worked flawlessly, only took me about 15 minutes to do. I watched the video a few times and made sure I had all the tools needed. Time is now reset (both forwards and backwards works). No issues with odometer, no dot, no fault code (which should be the case since it's the original dash). You saved me a lot of money and a trip to my mechanic.
