- Hello, in this episode you can see how I replace the relays from the central locking of a BMW e46 is a fairly common problem but easy to repair, to make this repair I will use a soldering station and a disordering stand , the relays are situated in the GM5 module behind the glovebox

Fantastic! Thanks for showing the GM5 module IS repairable and the symptoms of the failure. My door locks are slow/sluggish. I was thinking it was a separate relay like all the other relays that is getting worn. Now I have relays on order to fix my GM5 module. People like you help us keep the old BMW going!!!

You are very professional and did a great walk through. I think this is what is wrong with my z4. I replaced the battery in the fob and still none of the remote buttons work. I bought AK90 to reprogram the key but testing it it says it is fully charged and still connected to the car.
Nice video... My e46 has different relays on the GM5 board (EP2F-B3G1S instead of V23084-C2001-A303). Also, I found it easier to remove the rack and then remove the connectors (but either way will do). Snapped off a retainer tab on the centre connector --- not a big deal, but those retainer tabs are very fragile… so be careful people!

I'm in Texas and plastic gets abuse from heat here. I always spray the connectors with WD40 or other penetrant lube before sliding or levering the connector latch. This makes the plastic mechanisms latching these connectors move more easily and thus apply less force to the plastic. It helps on simpler slide in connectors also.

been breaking mij head on how to remove the glovebox with the passenger door closed because my previous car would not allow that and all vids on this show it with that door open.
quick question: in a comment below you said that one relais controls driver door and fuel cap and the other does the other three doors, with my car i have always had either all doors or no doors at all open up but everything else fits perfect with gm5 issues. thanks ahead and great vid. instant subrscribe!!
Yes, because the car can be coded to have selective lock, that is, if you want on your wife's key when she opens the car, only the driver's door and the tank flap will open. If she wants the whole car to open, she will have to press again on the remote open button , but for you being a man maybe you can face an attack from someone who will enter in your car when you unlock it and your key will have a normal opening . therefore there are 2 relays. but when there is a problem on one of them the whole car will not be unlocked or lock back depends on the defect, because the GM5 module will enter in protection

Hi love the videos, very detailed. Quick question, do you know where about in the car the transmitter receiver is located please.
customer complained his remote wasn't working, but can manually lock and open lock, manually central was is working. I check the remote frequency and signal, that was good as well. For the benefit of doubt i programmed another remote, key will start car but remote central locking will not work. I tried to synchronise key/fob, but no success. Synchronise DME to EWS after programming key, it will start car but remote is not working. I'm just wondering if transmitter receiver is faulty, not receiving signal from remote.
I would be grateful for your expert advise please.

Hi. I know its an old thread but did you fix this problem? My car was just found after it was stolen and someone has made a new key for it. Now my original key won't work but also the doors won't unlock either with the remote or manually. Your reply would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I replaced my relays. But door locks do not lock or unlock. Windows work, wipers work. But doors do not unlock or lock inside car or with remote. Also no auto lock when driving. What should I check?

My central locking works with the key in the door and the button next to the handbrake, which leads me to believe GM5 is working, the key is also charged and transmitting a signal, however the buttons don't lock/unlock the doors or the boot. I have tried many times to reprogram the key to the car but no luck. I know these cars have an antenna amplifier but I have heard they're not much of an issue on the coupe, can you advise on this?

I had the exact problem with my e46 and had both relays replaced just like you did but the switch in the car and the key fob still will not open the passenger door. Any suggestions?
door latch actuator if the problem is located only for one specific door.
Now i know how to fix something but also that I don't have the tools. XD

Hey bro nice video, on my e46 318ci the passenger door does not open with the remote control it opens only from the interieur when I open my self, But it lock and works well when locking the car remotely, any syggestion ?

I have a E46 cabrio 2001 320 Mb54b22. The trunk is not opening from the trunk button. Only from the key. I disassembled the whole truck i checked the cable harness which goes to the body(the common problem) is ok i also checked the button is working perfect ( i thought the button will be the problem and bought another button). What else should i check?
Well you have to make a diagnosis and go live and see if ZKE sees the command from the button, if you had the wires broken in the trunk you may have reversed 2 wires, because there are 2 with the same color

You will make some gymnastics through the open window, remove the glove box compartment, and remove and repair or replace the GM module.....easy!

May be the antena receiver from the rear window especially if you have tinted film , or the key can be defective even if it works, and sometimes cannot work because your car is parked next to other cars that have mounted a aftermarket with pager alarm , and will block you frequency .
if I just replace my gm 3 module from junkyard, do I have to reprogram the replace gm?
You need to code it , but if the donor car have the same level of equipment it will work fine widout coding

Good job. Mine is a 2004 , 325 cabriolet. Everything is working fine except a fuel filler door not opening with a key fob. I think the GM5 is causing this issue. What do you think? Thanks.

hey man i have a question maybe you can help ,my power window driver side is not working ,electronic shop swaped the relay for the window but it still doesnt work ,is there any other control of relay itself within the module that might prevent it from working even tough the new relay is put in, thanx in advance :)
More likely it's the window regulator inside the door

Salut,am si eu o problema la e46 tot la închidere. Merge sa o deschid-inchid de la butonul dinăuntru masinii dar din cheie nu mai merge! Pana sa nu mai mearga deloc ma chinuiam cu butoanele de la telecomanda sa i inchid-deschid! Crezi ca poate fi de la modu sau de la telecomanda? Salut, pana nu faci o diagnosticare completa nu poti sti care e problema ... cu datul cu presupusul nu rezolvi nimic , ideal e sa apelezi la un service specializat BMW din zona ta pentru reparatie sau macar pentru diagnosticare! Si dupaia vei sti ce e / cheie / receptor / antena...etc

Salut ! poti verifica antena de pe luneta si modulul FVZ , dar din ce ai scris nu cred ca faci corect procedura . bagi cheia in contact, pui contactul , iei contactul si scoti cheia , apesi pe descuiat si in timp ce tii apasat pe descuiat ( nu dai drumu ) apesi in acelasi timp de 3 ori pe incuiat la 3a apasara dai drumu la ambele butoane , daca nu merge din prima incerci de mai multe ori, si incerci cu diferita ordine de butoane ! a si cel mai important toate usile si portbagajul sa fie inchise ! Succes!

Ya I have done tried that many times turning the key to passion 1 then off then hold the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times that dose not work

Salut! in principiu da , dar depinde daca masina de pe care e luat, daca are aceiasi echipare ca cea pe care il montezi! in ori-ce caz la inlocuirea modulului telecomanda va trebui reinitializata!

Salut , nustiu ce sa zic ar trebui verificate releele , si e posibil daca nu ai scule si rabdare sa fi distrus cablajul cand ai scos releele vechi , daca era un actuator de pe usa defect nu mergea doar usa respectiva ..

But on mine car central locking button next to the handbrake is WORKING. However my key buttons aren’t, is it same problem with mine GM5 or is it something else?
P.S. I checked my key at the key and coding store and its working 100%

Yes and no, depending on the coding, if the donor car was the same as yours, but even so, you'll need to code it
My trunk opens with the key, the doors dont. Manually the doors open en lock normally. GM5 or reciever?

@@MOvidiu doors open and close normal with the key. So a guy who fixes G5 over here say that its not G5 then. Then the button in the center console shouldnt work either.
@@E36andE46vlog you asked wrong, you suppose to say the central locking work normally with the mechanical key, not working from remote control, in this situation my answer is to check the remote control first battery and second the switches but to do that you need to cut the key
@@MOvidiu one key programmed. Worked and then it stoped, maybe batterij empty. Is the reciever in the c style working or not or can it be that its start dienibgblike your mass airflow sensor?
@@E36andE46vlog Once one of the commands on the remote control works, the receiver is fine, you have nothing to look for in it. the battery in the remote control may be discharged,
