The car featured has been lovingly cared for and is now a credit to it's owner and with just 35k miles from new it;s a real gem.

So John, what car currently on sale today will we looking back at 30 years and talking about its legendary reliability and functionality? Any nominations ? Or will they all be confined to the scrap heap with their combustion engines and dodgy sensors
I took a few days to think about this. Criteria I decided upon is that it would have to be mega popular currently and cheap to maintain. I'm going to suggest for diesel it'll be a Golf Mk4/5 and Octavia equivalent with the 1.9PD diesel. For petrol it'll be the current Corolla Hybrid and for electric cars I reckon the new electric Megane will beat the best in class. Electric cars should be very easy to maintain and reliable long term.

@@aidandcarroll Toyota put a huge amount of quality control checks around them and it's tried and trusted technology. I'd have no hesitation putting huge mileage on one
@@JohnsGarageIreland had 4 corollas myself no problems but not much flair or comfort. Love to see a hybrid celica or similar, that would bring me back to the brand.
@@aidandcarroll Toyota unveiled future electric cars yesterday, 1 looked like a modern Veluca and another an MR2. The Corolla may not have a lot of things but in Ireland across generations its git a special place in people's hearts. Look at the prices bring paid for 90s XLis for example.
