It seems rather ironic that you go off on holidays and then a storm named Betty comes along, as if there were a jealous aussie ford throwing a tantrum... :P
How could you contain your excitement Ian at being in Bridgend at the Hub of civilisation and all things of wonder “ The Lidl Store” 😁, it’s a Mecca of cheapness and all the things you never knew you needed nor wanted , I’m getting a tingling feeling just looking from the car park 😂 let alone actually being there like you were and well done for showing things of interest , hanging gardens of Babylon eat your heart out 😁.
I love how happy Bob makes you both and great to see Bella back in action. I remember the toilet block quality being a big talking point in our caravan holidays too. There was always a friendly spider lurking somewhere.
You've gone all 70's with a Lazy Susan. A folding sack truck helps with the water collection when many yards from the tap and large containers. If you don't have a soft plastic cover for the socket when not in use, cling film prevents moisture and muck ingress corroding the connections for both plug and socket, may not look pretty but works. Another use for Petroleum Jelly as well.
Nice one HubNoters. It's nice to see Bob and Bella back in convoy to experience some new pastures for a day or so along with the quick fix at the beginning to get things moving. Diego certainly looked a lot better later on following a feast.
Seeing you guys travelling in Bob on one of your very first trips I think you have a majestic unit. I got overly excited when we passed each other. As a former Conway Countryman owner I know just how great they are. We now use a Citroen C15 Romahome HyLo for our all too rare trips. Keep these coming. I’m loving them 😊
That revolving Salad Carousel is A#1 Period Camping tat! I myself am after orange period turn of the century(still sounds odd saying that) stuff to go with the honda ultrabieige velour of the Stepwgn .
Seeing you in Llantwit Major brought back childhood memories of many family holidays spent there, though never camping as my nana lived there. Shame you didn’t get to see more of the area, though; it’s lovely.
You're so lucky, only having to replace a plug, mice had gotten to my Cole and the roof was starting to rot (prior to my ownership) just finished the roof today, was able to get a bed boot (part that makes up the sleeping area) off the peg, so to speak for £370 🥳 but that supplier only had the one, found a company that makes tenting for all makes of campers, (yay🤗) thirty-three weeks+ till they can make mine😭 I have a campsite reservation for the end of October to see the fall colors 🥺 Well at least I can sew I just can't get the material to make the new boot but I can make a temporary wall to enclose that end till the new boot arrives💪 It's unfortunate that the company is backlogged but it also means they have plenty of customers to keep them busy which is a good thing.
7:50 ish: "One hook-up between four vans": which explains the initial uncertainty about whether or not to review the site. Glad to see you have got your hands on mossie coils. They are remarkably effective, and the faint gunpowdery smell is not unpleasant.
@@hubnotes Umm, perhaps "hook up" as an expression hasn't reached your part of the world yet? It was what you might call a double entendre, which is half a four-way, as it were. Loved the episode, and glad Diego recovered; I see him being an important character in a number of future arcs.
Nice place Llantwit Major, had family living down there ,I went there twice in 1979 and 1985 and then the moved back up to Wrexham were my antie is from .My uncle was a Cardiff man he was a engineer at RAF St Athen a US air force base. Enjoy your travels ,Take care👍
After seeing the the title I was expecting a field full of Gilberns...... Felt your pain sorting out the dreaded trailer light wiring, I must have spent hours of a previous life with horrible socket wiring towing various ramshackle car trailers !!!
Brilliant video love the banter between you guys we just got back from St David’s in our Penine Fiesta had to brave storm Antoni but she stood up to it no problem keep up the great content
I980 Llantwit and Barry was where I learned to drive, big hills good hill start training, passed test in Cardiff in Mil spec SWB lightweight LR. Occasionally drive my wifes car, but under her supervision, as its got an electric witchcraft handbrake.
There's a lovely little aviation museum in St Athan. The South Wales Aviation Museum. It's on the North Side of the airfield not far from Aston Martin. You can also see the aircraft awaiting recycling over the road.
Hi Ian and Carly travelling back from Powwys today seen a rather clean Lancia Thema and not so long ago a car transporter loaded with foreign reg MK2 Escorts.
I've been there with our caravan, go to start your holiday and then forget you've got a dodgy electric connector! I used to just blast it all the time with contact cleaner and hope for the best! It has since been replaced!
Missing camping trips since my volvo s80 towbar threw its alternator belt and took the timing belt with it and destroyed the cylinder head. New head fitted a month later and caravan trip booked for next month. Hope you guys had a nice time
hope Diego is OK my border terrier, Dexter, stood on some bees last summer and got stung on his paw. thankfully he was OK but it is a worry in case they develop anaphylaxis
We bought a trailer tent just after xmas with the view of using it throughout the year. We've not used it at all so far, and unlikely to this year. The missus is a teacher, so time off is restricted to school holidays, and my shift pattern (Night shift Monday to Friday, with Friday night shift ending around 10am on a Saturday) weekends are difficult. We did book 2 weeks off this year. One at start of summer hols, one at the end, but the kids found out and decided they wanted to come and stay with us preventing us going away. So the poor thing has been sat under the carport all year, and currently used by the cats as a lounging area.
If I d known I’d have dropped a bottle of wine to you there…. also a great campsite by the Plough and Harrow in Broughton just along the coast make sure you go to SWAM ( air museum in MOD St Athan )
I've had one of those stools/steps for years, it was about 5x the price, something to do with having 'Snap-On' cheaply printed on the side! 🙄 It's about knackered now but has served me well so I'll keep and eye on Lidl for a replacement. I may scrawl Snap-On on it in biro.....
I must beg for forgiveness; at first I disliked these camping uploads and I was quite vociferous about it. I've come to love them, they're fun and unusual :)
The weather has been up and down this year so you have to grab it when you can we have not made has Many trips to beach this year but we are lucky enough to be going back to are favourite holiday destinations next month to Celebrate are 40th wedding anniversary this year Jamaica it dose rain there but Dries up quickly
I love a good Bob vid. Had to change the socket on my discovery last month for taking mine. Checked all the wiring and left it at that. The night that we were to go away, I tried to book up and the dental pin in the new socket wouldn't fit the bloody plug on the camper. 9pm at night I had to sacrifice the 12v book up plug for one of its connectors. One day I might remember to buy a new one for it
For a minute there at the beginning Bella wasn't compatible with Bob's erection 🫨😦😜😉..... Enjoy your Summer Journey's Hub Squad👍. Sorry to hear about Diego 🐝...
It seems rather ironic that you go off on holidays and then a storm named Betty comes along, as if there were a jealous aussie ford throwing a tantrum... :P

I have many happy memories of Acorn Campsite from the 1980s ❤

The hook-up has four ports, so it's not like you're really sharing.

May the sun shine upon your pitch, and the wind avoid your awning.

I wouldn’t pitch under a tree too often, as the sap and bird droppings can make a mess of your canvas
And then there's the lightning strike
Enjoy your trip 😊👍

Practical Lass.. Where do I get one?

Wasn't the Gilbern factory at Llantwit Major? Does it's site still exist?
No, that was Llantwit Fardre; about half an hour’s drive away.
