Thanks for watching! What are your top video-making tips?
Nice video
I can't focus when videos are shakey!! So that is another thing to be conscious about👌🏻
Thanks from Morocoo 🙏
These are great tips, thank you Allison. I posted a video about my favourite editing tips this week as well. I recommended using sound effects and keeping your channel intro short. I'm pretty new to TH-cam and had a 15 second intro on my first 10 videos and it definitely didn't help with audience retention 😅
"just start" is mine!!
Unlike some videos I've seen on TH-cam. These are legitimately helpful tips that I would actually use!
I haven't heard any music in this video until you' ve told about it 😅
Broadcast journalist here - love that you have a broadcasting background! It is such a good foundation for basic video/editing skills.
I don't do videos but your content just fascinates and educates me. Things I wouldn't have otherwise thought to consciously pay attention to. Always well thought out and to the point.
This video is great!! Thanks from Brazil 🧡
Thank you!! This is my first year on TH-cam and love hearing new tips! 👍😀
Some of these tips I’ve never thought of before and they are so helpful!! Thank you, Allison 😊
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
So 👏 helpful 👏
Thanks so much for sharing!
Hey Allison, I started watching your videos mid-January and just want you to know that whenever I see that you made a video, I immediately like it because I know that whatever the content is, you're going to do a great job at it. Also I have a couple waterfall hikes I've gone to if you do see this I recommend-Wahclella Falls and Wahkeena Falls. Keep up the awesome work, seriously!!
YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so grateful to have found your gorgeous videos today. I am learning so much and feel absolutely inspired by your art. Thank you for who you are and what you do!!! - Libier

I absolutely love the tips you shared in the video! The 3 seconds or less b-roll trick is so helpful!
Thanks Allison for sharing this. I made videos by myself, your video just gave me a lot inspiration. I love the way you taking, and also your new year resolution about the sunrise catching goal lol. I happened to see your channel and I can't stop watching every one of the videos!
Thank you, for the great suggestions. I am a newbie video creator, knew there was a lot to learn. And now you are making it all much clearer. No more double panning shots! Thanks so much for sharing your inside discoveries!!

Just stumbled across your channel today. LOVE IT!! There are so many great tips and tricks. I've learned so much from this video specifically. I didn't realize how much I panned--you're right, it IS dizzying.
These tips and this whole video was GOLD! Really helped me a lot, i am starting with my YT journey.. and your videos are helping me learn so much about videography. ❤️😍
So helpful! And your lighting is beautiful. Thank you!
Crazy... That this came up, TODAY... Lots of great tips! Great job!
Loved the vid so helpful
Great video and fantastic insights! I took a film class on an exchange semester to Canada two years ago and was so fascinated by it I keep thinking about photo, video, editing, etc and this has added very nicely to that knowledge.
Would you consider doing a video on what color profiles you shoot in and what luts you recommend? Mostly geared to simple editing/ color grading for someone not doing commercial work and more so travel or simple lifestyle videos.
Great video thanks !
Thank you for this lesson! I obviously did it instinctively for the music, but all the rest, I didn’t know. It makes sense, thank you!
Oh my gosh! Thanks 🙏 I am going to start using these tips when I film.
Great advice!
These are amazing tips!!!
Great video with superb demonstration! I don't make video but i appreciate all of these advice just to show there are usually a lot of thougths to be had on everything we do to be successful. Thank you 😊

Thanks for great information
The ad in this video legitimately couldn’t have come at a better time; I’m making a few commissioned videos and couldn’t for the life of me remember story block’s name & absolutely want to use the site!! Thanks for sharing :) completelyyyy agree about reusing shots or using too many panning shots in a row! Love the video!
This was so helpful!
Love ur tips thx
This is very informative allison
Love this!! We are brand new to making videos and this was really helpful!! Also love the rest of your channel!
Great video! It is really helpful! :)
Thanks for the tips...great video..💯✔
Great video!
Wonderful advice! I always enjoy your videos. I agree 100% with the background music. It’s one of the biggest mistakes people make. I’ve left many videos because of distracting background music that is to overpowering. Thanks 😊
this was super helpful
Great video! The 3 second rule for b-roll is a really good tip! 👏🏽
this is perfect advice thanks for this
This was a great vid!
Really helpful tips! :)
super helpful!
Thanks for all the great tips I am a newbie and trying to learn how to record my videos on cooking
Another way to keep background music from "muddying" dialog is to reduce gain of the music in the dialog vocal range... ~ 100 hz to ~ 1250 hz when someone is talking.
Thanks for this. From South Africa I am still at the very beginning of this all. Being a public speaker, I am trying to lower my voice volume - I have not learnt any technology of sound equipment yet.
But one thing I work quite hard on is transitions of my own face while editing in order to minimize that "jumpy" look between sentences. I have a new respect for video editing work.
Ahhh this brings back fond memories from my journalism degree! Great video, I think lots of TH-camrs could learn a thing or two here 👀👀
Editing tips.. sequence settings and render settings..😊😊😊😊
I love your videos. I really love how you start them by jumping right into the topic and don't waste time with intros or asking people to subscribe :) I also never noticed you have music playing in the background - it's so annoying to try and watch a video where the background music is too loud!!
Good shop in version college thanks you !
Thank u thank u so much for 👏👏👏👏☑️making this video , this video gave the most most most most valuable information that u had ever got in ur experience , thank u so , so , much alison aderson ,mam 🙏💯
I can't focus when videos are shakey!! So that is another thing to be conscious about👌🏻
getting serious about my youtube channel and i love these tips!! I love the "3 second" rule... thats why i think videos like my one second a day are so effective and popular in this era where people have short time spans xD thank you!
Haha people really have the attention span of like 1 second nowadays so your way is definitely suitable for the current standards lol 😂🙌🏼
Yes! My last vlog had most of my b-roll under 2 seconds and the views & retention was so much better!
@@ariannawestley This is so great to hear, really gives me some inspiration for my coming videos! :)
Many Thanks Allison for the advices ! Greetings from Calgary Canada. Hope you'll come visit us one day would love to show u around ! 😉
Great 🙏🙏

I completely didn't even think about multiple panning shots causing dizziness for the audience. These are great tips!
I notice this sometimes on television or in a movie, where people are talking and the camera is swirling around them repeatedly. Makes me want to hurl.
Hey Allison
Thanks for the advice. Quick question though: how many dB do you normally set your audio baseline for your voice etc? Somewhere around -12dB?
Hi, when is your Yellowstone video coming out? I cant wait!
The loud background music is the worst! I just don’t understand how a creator pushed a video live with obnoxious and thought “yeah that sounds really good”.
Haha yep! I use background music in my videos but I always try to decrease the volume so it isn't distracting😅
I hate this so much!
I'm guilty of making a lot of the mistakes mentioned in the video lol, I actually learned a lot!
In addition to the great tips you provided, I absolutely feel that a stable hand or a stabilizer is key to filming too. I'll watch some TH-cam videos (including mine) where the visuals are so shaky, it's hard to focus. But thank you so much for the tips! I will definitely implement these!! :)
To a degree though. Even Hollywood films have non perfect handheld footage.
curious what is the best and easiest way to make a montage in the beginning as an intro
All of things u mentioned 'em should already knew 4 those how r interested in makeing videos
big thank for sharing, i am new friend.
