@G2IntegraDA: You can upshift flat with a sequential gearbox, which is used here. The electronics cut the ignition for a split second. Not sure about this car but in more modern racecars with sequential you can downshift without the clutch, too, but sometimes it is better to still use the clutch when downshifting to have the rear of the car more stable going into a corner (talking about rear-wheel-drive cars of course). This is often done in wet/slippery conditions.
Yea, honda engines sound really good, especially the 3.5 liter V6s. I have a Honda Odyssey van with that 3.5 liter V6 and it sounds way better than the engine in the Infiniti i35.
@MrVinnievtec sequential transmission. Some you can up shift without even lifting the throttle. Notice the arm movements. The transmission inst shifted in a normal H pattern. Pull back for upshifts and push forward for downshifts (it returns to center naturally).
@madman8718 Wrong, NSXs are project of the racing part of Honda. Ayrton Senna was also a developer of the NSX project. ACURA is just Honda, changing the name for the American Domestic market. And if you know, in 1991, Senna was racing a McLaren-Honda formula. And when McLaren wanted to produce the McLaren F1,asked Honda for engine, but secretive Honda said polite... NO !!!
@omardinoc6 The clutch is there so the car can get moving :) also used for downshifts. Rest of the time it's just foot off the gas - shift, all that in the blink of an eye.
@chucksterrr though he may be one badass driver ... its not because he is 'tapping the gas'. Its a common downshifting technique called "heal toe downshifting". Its fairly easy to learn.
Holy shit! 3rd is CLOSE! I cannot imagine the need to have 3rd gear that close on a turbocharged car, especially considering how much longer the other gears are.
@cross56442 as chucksterrr pointed out you are very wrong. Its a racing sequential. The clutch is only required on downshifts for rev matching. Notice the arm movements ... no normal H pattern.
@spawn5yo no, this isn't japanese. Ayrton Senna was the most famous driver for feathering the throttle to keep the boost up. He wasn't the only one but he was the best.
perfect shift?that`s a sequential man.only clutch down when you match the revs with the road speed.he`s tapping the gas on the changes because he is one badass driver
I love watching Keiichi Tsuchiya's foot work and I wasn't used to seeing him step on the clutch... i wa slike... what you doin g.. just step on it ... ahhhh ol
He's accustom to the sequential pattern (if you weren't aware of that) since the GT2 NSX he drove also had a sequential pattern that required for clutch to be used during up-shifting. The clutch can be used for up-shifting but it's pointless since it's a straight-cut/dog-geared sequential transmission meaning faster shift timing but he still does heel-toe on downshift for 'smoother' rev-matching.
The N/A version of the NSX got 1st place in its class, this TURBOed one didnt finish the race cause it broke down. Turbo's usually kill engines much faster than N/A. It was fast but it broke down so no good
@RotaryCrossType7 Perhaps you missed my point... my point is the engine is really good, back when this first came out, 270hp from a V6 was insane. I dare you to drive an odyssey and a infiniti I35 and rev the engines, I guarantee you will also think the honda engine sounds better. And yes, I have driven both cars. btw, how's the torque from your rotary engine treating ya?
@tougecolt Yeah turbo's aren't good for high compression high reving and a 3L V6 turbo @ 600+hp. I think it'll be tough for that engine to run 24 hours at lemans
Honda lost the way with street cars. They want to think like GM. But, they are reliable and cheaper to run. They lost the way. Mazda, today, has more spark ...
Today Honda has no limit in competition they directly compete with ferrari, mercedes and Red bull, Honda is limited by pollution normes and cant build the same engines like back in the day but still have the same quallity, all cars today have lost the pure experiance of driving, look a the GTR or The new Bmw Supra.. Evo and Sti are dead... Mazda has problems with their new engines and has nothing to compete the new Type R's that beat records around the world, Honda makes automotive History !
@raidacaipo when people say hondas sound like shit i think they are talking about those honda civic tuned by highschool kids who dont know shit about tuning real hondas sound phenomenal with their high reving vtech they sound like motorcycle engines when i was watching this video i kept on waiting for him shift it takes a long ass time it probably revs up to 9500 rpms thats crazy
@op3l well op3l I'm one of the lucky ones who have found a 3r tt and with a little money and some time on the weekends, my torque is plenty for the street and track enthousiast, but even stock i wouldnt compare it to your mini van.....noooo i wouldnt dare.
Sorry, but the Corvette C5-R Which is the C6's predecessor and raced during this GT1 car's era actually totally dominated the GT-S/GT1 class along with the Other America Viper GTS-R Racing at the 24 Hours of Nur and Le mans. In fact, the C5-R actually dominated the GT1 Class during it's racing years. The C6.R is only continuing chevy's newfound legacy in the old GT1 with the new GT2 C6.R. PS, The C5-R is more powerful than the C6.R due to GT1 Regulations allowing for more Horse power and
Honda is an Engine Company.. no other company compares.. I believe Honda is the Best Car/Engine company in the WORLD!! the American Car companies should throw in the towel already.. American cars are garbage and always will be.. I'm an American and was born and raised in the U.S.A. American car companies lack creativity, innovation, and experience. The old "muscle, gas guzzling car" days are over.. Shit-can the Chevy Volt or any other shitty American car these companies come up with.
Hiperhen well you gotta respect the corvettes since the c4 too. Those things handle like there on rails. Plus they always got the best sound at Le mans haha
well alot of the shitty sounding hondas have to do with cheap ebay exhaust systems and cheap no cat piping.. there are 2 type of people.. one who like the loud, fart type of exhaust and ones that like the quiet but racy exhaust. I like the quiet racy ones like the apexi ws2 which makes a honda sound a little nicer.
KT got the fastest time when he was in Lemans but only got 2nd place cuz a teammate had an accident. Would have been cool to see him in F1.
Beautiful. Always wondered what an NSX race car sounded like, now I know :)
Hondana Engine was a good one! Love to see this again
"Heel-Toe" downshifting, an awesome downshifting technique
The tunnel pass at 3:40 sounds sweet.

whoa, the beginning looks like a gran turismo intro. epic.
Crazy to know the NSX had a GT1 spec it sounds amazing compared to its gt2 spec
Yea, honda engines sound really good, especially the 3.5 liter V6s. I have a Honda Odyssey van with that 3.5 liter V6 and it sounds way better than the engine in the Infiniti i35.
this guy can shift like a fucking monster
Amazing well built
@MrVinnievtec sequential transmission. Some you can up shift without even lifting the throttle. Notice the arm movements. The transmission inst shifted in a normal H pattern. Pull back for upshifts and push forward for downshifts (it returns to center naturally).
VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO!
High revs + turbo = win
Mr. Fancy Footwork!! Nice driving!!
1:48 is a the best part !
@madman8718 Wrong, NSXs are project of the racing part of Honda. Ayrton Senna was also a developer of the NSX project. ACURA is just Honda, changing the name for the American Domestic market.

NSX is so iconic
@chucksterrr though he may be one badass driver ... its not because he is 'tapping the gas'. Its a common downshifting technique called "heal toe downshifting". Its fairly easy to learn.
the roar sounds so fucking sweet
sounds bad ass!!
is it a twin turbo? and do these type of cars have anti lag systems? ive always wanted to know.
this thing made so much fkin revs in it stime and still does unbelievable !: >
Holy shit! 3rd is CLOSE! I cannot imagine the need to have 3rd gear that close on a turbocharged car, especially considering how much longer the other gears are.

@taystew thanks dude, wish i could see this baby live before it went away
Sensei keiichi is happy
do you mean where he "blips" the throttle?
it's called "heel/ toe" it's a technique race car drivers use when downshifting =)
project cars 2 please!
I'd love to have that car in my garage!
sounds godly
@raidacaipo the standard nsx is a true master piece, it's a shame it didn't have the success it derserves.
I wish I could shift like him.
perfect shift?that`s a sequential man.only clutch down when you match the revs with the road speed.he`s tapping the gas on the changes because he is one badass driver
this car is freakin' porn on wheel ... and then there's the engine noise ... and then who developed the car ... i think i'm in love ...
Where V-TEC was a perfomance even for racing instead of only reserved for fart cans today.
The V6 in the NSX doesn’t have VTEC.
He wants to hit the clutch so bad while up shifting lol
I love watching Keiichi Tsuchiya's foot work and I wasn't used to seeing him step on the clutch...
i wa slike... what you doin g.. just step on it ... ahhhh ol

he only clutches on the downshift. cuz when hes shifting thru gears he does a perfect shift. which doesnt need a clutch if u do it right.
Gran Turismo 1 JP version exclusive special racing car (Honda Dealership)
I'm so sad I sold my 97 NSX-T.....such an amazing car!!!
@blaknagi 650ps is around 640hp.
@NigMac34 It said on his Wikipedia entry, and a few other places I think. He had the fastest lap, but a teammate crashed.
Awesome car
Iconic cars.W27
Oh I thought this was in Le Mans. This is Motegi right?
besides this has 6 cylinders.. so it sounds alot better. Ever seen a j32 swap into a civic? sounds totally different and nice because the j32 is a v6
@op3l sorry to be technical but its actually your exhaust and cam setup..... i know what ya mean though ;)
すごい
good good😂❤
The N/A version of the NSX got 1st place in its class, this TURBOed one didnt finish the race cause it broke down. Turbo's usually kill engines much faster than N/A. It was fast but it broke down so no good
I meant tapping the gas and not just keeping it floored while shifting up.I know about heel toe:)sorry for the confusion!
@theundeadx ... i think the nsx sounds is the best
Le ganara al 300 zx que corrio en le mans 1994??
@raidacaipo the new honda hsv-10 sounds even better!!
@RotaryCrossType7 Ok. But I still think the van engine sounds good.
@taystew
Wrong. PS=HP => 650 PS = 650 HP
He only use's the clutch to shift down.Intresting.
@staticCable I found that interesting as well. Do you know why he only clutches on the downshift?
@tougecolt Yeah turbo's aren't good for high compression high reving and a 3L V6 turbo @ 600+hp. I think it'll be tough for that engine to run 24 hours at lemans
3rd gears seems quite short
It's the "throwaway gear"
ホンダがル・マンなんて今じゃ想像できやんな
Now i know: you can pack-a-punch a Honda NSX
They never went racing with this did they?
Which best motoring or hot version issue is this from?

ok this might sound noobish but i was wondering how come there is a manual clutch if the sequential gearbox does not require one?
@Ximon1986 PS( or "Pferdestärke") does not = horsepower
Twin Ring Motegi?
Yes
WOW
(c) Downforce, so it wouldn't actually effortlessly beat this NSX, but the C5-R would and did.
I have the same Center H logo woot
honda nsx 1994 year for le mans
@carmodifire post link
@raidacaipo probably only car of honda worth mentioning and the S2000 ofc :P lol

can someone plz explain wat the pilot does at 3:21 . seems cool!!
ROFLgator Just basic heel and toe downshifting
@op3l well op3l I'm one of the lucky ones who have found a 3r tt and with a little money and some time on the weekends, my torque is plenty for the street and track enthousiast, but even stock i wouldnt compare it to your mini van.....noooo i wouldnt dare.
@op3l lol an odyssey you are sooooo cool...
to think this is only a v6
@raidacaipo
No other Honda's sound like this.
Honda HSV-010 and bunch of F1 Hondas say hi

Chuck Johnson the only american car I truly respect is Dodge Viper. Also, I'm from the future.
Hiperhen well you gotta respect the corvettes since the c4 too. Those things handle like there on rails. Plus they always got the best sound at Le mans haha
nothing much to respect viper for, unless you mean the newest top-notch model
