Good Morning, i need you help please i have a 6.1 hemi 3 gen, i rebuild the motor and know when i go to to crank it turns but not start, and it back firing, i check the gap for the spark, check the wiring, what else is there to check, my friend suggested it my timing, what you you think, please let me know what you think
@@derekgriggs95 yes, could definitely be cam timing. 1st check and make sure all coil plugs are on the correct coil. It is about impossible to have one in the wrong place but start there.
I'm struggling so hard on this. I set it exactly the way you had yours. Spun it over 3 times to double and tripple check. Everything was in time. Put the engine back together. It ran for about 20 seconds clattering. Then i shut it off. Pulled the valve covers thinking maybe a pushrod fell off. And everything looks good. Went to turn the engine over with the starter to watch the push rods and it immediately seized up. Woudnt budge.Tore the front of the engine apart again. Did the timing job again thinking maybe a skipped tooth. I didn't. Spun it over this time with oil in the crank case to pump ip the lifters. And all was good. Put it all back together again fired it up with the fuel relay and bam again. Fucken seizes. What the fuck is going on! Im losing my mind on this
Sounds like you have other issues. The only way that it would be locked up is if the valves were hitting the pistons. This would definitely bend all the valves and you would know it.
did you get it figured out? im also using this video to time mine due to not removing the oil pump. i have the passenger side head to put on and finish everything. now you have me afraid of trying it.
@@moparbymelton961 well it's 10am eastern at the moment. I tried to fire it up this morning and guess what??? It fired up and ran like a charm!! Your the man my brother!!! Excellent video.
HI, My next step is pulling the front of the engine apart to check timing because I can't find an answer to my problems. When my 5.7 warms up to around 130 degrees it will not idle and has no power. Every indication says massive air leak (33.01short term) but I plugged the vacuum lines at the intake, changed intake, tried different tunes but nothing changes. Have you came across this problem or could it be the timing is off a tooth. It also seems to carbon up . Thanks in advance
@@raymatticks1065 they will not run a tooth off. It will have piston to valve interference also a tooth off👍 Definitely seems like a vacuum leak somewhere.
So I’m having problems with codes p000b and p0016 I change the cam crank sensors and vvt solenoid and redid the timing chain still throwing the same codes how can I fix it?
Just like in days of old! Lineup the timing marks with piston on Top dead center, all good. Only in the old days the timing marks were the opposite of what the Gen3 HEMI is! In the old days, the Cam gear mark is at 6 and the crank gear mark is at 12 o’clock. The timing chain doesn’t matter where it sits on the gears. I think Chrysler engineers were over thinking it when they were setting up the timing marks for the Gen3 HEMI. Just saying
spot on!

Same exact thing happened to me! I followed the instructions faithfully something’s off bro
@@curtisnstacey I build these every week. LOL. You are good if you followed the instructions.

@@moparbymelton961 last question lol, would the wrong valve springs cause a problem like this?
Thank You

Did you do a cam crank relearn? You need to use a scanner and do a relearn otherwise it will stay out of sync
100 % truth
top job ❤
I have a 2013 ram 2500 5.7 can I install 6.4 camshaft in it with out it affecting any thing?
Did he say, he ran the engine for 20 seconds, without oil?
