- Yosef Aziadna, 47 years old, is married and the father of seven. He is a member of the Zaidna tribe from Rahat and has worked as a hired shuttle driver all his life. On Friday night, he drove some young people from Omer to a party in Re'im and planned to pick them up the next day at noon. At 6:00, he received a call for help and left under a barrage of missiles. On his way through the fields, he picked up 30 young people who had escaped from the party in a minibus that usually can carry up to 14 passengers and evacuated them to Tze'elim and Omer. Since then, Yosef has received thanks from citizens, survivors, and their parents.
Regarding the title "hero," he says: "I didn't wait for it, and I didn't expect to be called a hero. I'm Israeli, and they're Israelis... We're all human. I did what is expected of a human being."
His cousin was murdered in Zikim Beach, and four members of his family were kidnapped to Gaza (Aisha and her brother were released). He received a threatening phone call from a Hamas man in Gaza for saving Jews. Today, he is dealing with anxiety, lack of sleep, and lack of work.
