Great video with clear instructions. I own the 18-400mm Tamron and some sand at the beach blew into it so the zoom is tight and rough to use. I got it replaced with my insurance but am thinking of trying to disassemble and clean it and if that works I will sell it as used. I'm wondering if the 18-400mm would be that different given they are both super zooms from the same manufacturer. Oh well, I figure it's worth a try.
I haven't disassembled the 18-400mm version, so I don't know the differences. If you choose to disassemble it, I would recommend to record it on a video which could help you during assembly.
If you have to clean the front lens element between the two molded parts, then generally, it is not possible... it would be extremely hard to put them back together perfectly.
@@CamerasLensesEtc Oh boy ... So have to send it in for repair ? I wonder how much that would be (I know it already, away to expensive, at least here in Denmark) Thank you for very quick answer! (My lense is a Tamron 18-300 for Nikon)
@@drpainsjourney Again, if you have removed the front lens element, and realized that the dust or fungus is inside the front lens element, then the only option is to replace the front lens element. I don't think that the manufacturer would clean it for you.

@@CamerasLensesEtc Where to buy a new front?
@@drpainsjourney Check ebay and marktplaats, and alternatively, you can ask Tamron or the service center where the Tamron lenses are serviced.
That's insane lol
Agree! :-)
This was one of the most difficult lens I disassembled then assembled, in spite of this is a very cheap lens.
