I currently drive a Qashqai as a rental, and I must say I'm impressed. Its engine is VERY punchy, push the accelerator and it speeds faster than a sports car! It is very smooth in changing gears and overall drive. The only problem is that I find the design... a bit generic, but it's atleast better that what Toyota would've done!

Agree with the comments that say this car has a bad rep for no reason. It drives really well, extremely great value and the panoramic sunroof is awesome and it looks above average. Recommend test driving it if you’re in the market for a mid size suv
A good tip for modern drivers. I find with a lot of modern cars you get dashboard reflecting in windscreen especially in bright sunlight. Get a black plain T shirt and lay it around dash on drivers side. It makes a massive difference stopping reflection try it!
The Dash in my 05 Element is at 10%. Its VERY slimly raked. Just like the sides, roof and rear hatch. Vertical. I dont have reflections. I also dont have a black shit dash I dont have any connectivity I have BLUE VINYL in my interior Its not clausterphobic... or makes you turn the hvac on.. the second ya get inside.
I feel as if Nissan has lost their touch with the Qashqai. Looking back it was so hugely popular when it first came out but now there are so many other and perhaps better options in this class. They really needed to something more special with this new one than just give it a minor facelift. Good car though, but I wouldn't even consider this over a VW Tiguan, Skoda Karoq or a Kia Sportage.
The interior in the Tiguan is awful, nasty nasty plastics. We looked at one, so disappointed in the interior, we even looked in the top of the range one for stupid money and apart from the very nice seats it still had the nasty plastics, shame because it looks great and drives really well. My wife bought a pre facelift QQ top of the range for really not very much money at all, personally I’d have gone for the 3008 but she didn’t like the funky interior and digital cockpit, plus it’s silly money for a Peugeot. As for Nissan losing its touch, it’s a 2014 car with a mid life facelift, a changed steering wheel, new seats, and new bumpers, all cars get facelifts and the price Nissan pay for inventing the crossover segment is others come in afterwards and improve on their design so now it lags behind. When the Mk3 comes out in 2or3 years that’s when we can judge if Nissan is taking things to the next level or losing its touch
The way mat says car names always varies a bit from the way it's said where I live (obviously) but the way he says Qashqai it's exactly the same as I hear it in my country.
NICK XP I own 2015 nissan rogue. Oil consumption is around a liter for 2k kilometers. I’ve already replaced blower motor and a fuel pump relay. I’ve driven 85k kms only
The compartment under the boot is mainly for the housing for the Bose Subwoofer. Just thought y'all may want to know :) The sounds system's amazing btw
Update my car has been in the dealership for 4 months. I have all the paperwork service and diagnostic reports etc etc to support my car engine was faulty before the point of purchase. The dealership, Nissan customer care & Nissan finance agree that the engine was indeed faulty before I bought the car. At the moment the dealership have to perform certain diagnostics on the engine to find out where the noise is coming from as the warranty company need this before they will sign off a new one. If you type 2014 Nissan Qashqai engine fault in a search engine take a look at the results I have no words. I payed for an extended service plan after the complimentary ones ran out. In this service plan it says that I get a courtesy car while the car is being serviced I have had no car for 4 months. The only thing stopping me from going directly to a solicitor is the lady at Nissan customer care she is an absolute credit to them. I honestly believe she is trying to help. So much red tape to get them to finally admit this known fault £19500 for a car that needs a new engine 3 years into a 4 year + finance package. I WILL not give up this fight. If you read this please like this post to help my plight. I have heard there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Watch this space fingers crossed 🤞
I work from my car and this is truly the hardest decision I'm trying to make, I've narrowed down to 2019 Outlander but it's a bit bland on the inside, 2019 Rav4 but it's 6-8k more or the Qashqai which is loaded with tech but a bit smaller.
I hope they have changed the front indicators, or make the day time running lights dim when indicating, you could hardly see the indicator on the old version when driving towards one.
These rear armrests that come in these cars are quite cheeky considering the price of these cars and that they are meant for convenience. Its quite evident that you will be forced to shrug your shoulders to put your elbow on them, especially if you are anywhere below 5'8 or so. This also reminds of the arm rests in the 2009 model toyota corolla which used to have one of the most practical arm rests of all times i would say, it was slightly lower set and really chunky which used to really feel like a proper arm rest. Hope the car companies reconsider this.
Hello Mat, how would you say does it compare to Skoda Karoq regarding cabin noise at motorway speeds (130 km/h)? I am not decided between these two models and cabin noise is an important factor for me. Thank you.

In the US "Rogue Sport" version there is only one engine choice, which is a bit disappointing, one would think there would be a market for more alternatives. But they apparently the point is to assure that the fuel economy number is absolute to comply with the regulation no matter the model.
CM Adolf SXE I don't know about you, but i not a fan of dogs and any pets, despite i have two cats. I more into cars. And i wouldn't say Nissan Qashqai is ugly, i'm not a fan of it. I would like to say my Nissan qashqai 1.6 diesel has just broken down because of my short journey's inside town. So my Diesel particulate is BLOCKED!! funny wasn't covered under my 3 years garentee 😢 took back to the dealer to swap it with a petrol one!
J Alcatraz Having had a 2013 quashai tekna with the 1.6 dci,and currently own a 2016 qashqai tekna 1.5dci,I feel able to comment. In the older qashqai (j10) the 1.6 dci was quicker and cleaner (128bhp and £30 road tax,so was the engine to get in diesel flavour. For our newer (j11) qashqai nissan (or renualt) cleaned up the 1.5 dci emissions so it under cut the 1.6dci (ours has 19" alloys and is £20 road tax,if it had 17" alloys it would be free road tax) Also the 1.5 dci has a nicer clutch action (both our are manual). The 1.6dci has a timing chain,so while it's a noisier engine, the chain will last for ever. The 1.5 dci has a timing belt,which makes it quieter but need replacing at a specified mileage or age. The early 1.5 dci qashqai's had a design fault that could lead to the timing belt snapping (due to a poor designed cover I think, that could rub the belt) but this was soon redesigned and no issues since. The 1.6 dci is a little quicker (18 bhp more) but I can honestly say,unless you thrash it, it's not noticeable quicker than the 1.5 dci. The thing I find best about our qashqai is that it does every thing well. It has enough pace Enough economy Enough passenger and boot space Enough toys,etc,etc. It is all things to all men and that's what I wanted from our car.
A Fool With A Tool There's info on the 1.6dci, it's apparently made to eliminate problems of Dpf and egr issues. There's a lot of info, here's something I just gathered. The Renault/Nissan 1.6DCI is an entirely new design featuring exhaust manifold incorporated into the cylinder head for a very fast warm up, so it not only creates less soot, but disposes of it much more effectively. I see that the 1.5 DCI is much older tech, being in cars for just over ten years I think, whereas the 1.6 DCI was only just introduced in 2013...

USA here, so Rogue Sport (ugh, what a daft name).. I tried one, no CarPlay/Android Auto, weak 2.0 141bhp non-turbo engine, priced too high, totally anonymous feeling to drive, and quite thirsty on my 2 hour drive with it. But it was as quiet as my Golf, not so big like a CR-V, seats seemed comfy enough, nice easy step in/out, and the CVT (only gearbox we can get) wasn't maddening like they used to be. Still, lacking the infotainment and a small turbo I couldn't give up my Golf for it which does have CarPlay and a 1.8T. Maybe they will offer a 1.6 turbo, and CarPlay soon enough.. and a lower price wouldn't hurt, these cost more than a Honda CR-V which is a nicer vehicle with a better engine (1.5 turbo), and far better fuel economy.
Pretty sure we get the 161hp 1.6L petrol turbo here. Wonder what the thinking behind giving you a 2L 141 non turbo is. It's almost like they don't give a shit about economy over there.

hm, wonder when the refreshed design will reach the US? seems like the car was introduced here not too long ago and i'm just now seeing them around town. perhaps they'd do better in sales with this more attractive look.
I have my qashqai 2018 (facelift) almost 1 year now its a 1.6 petrol and so far my best car ever i had peugeot 205 , 309 , and 2 new one's 307 and 308 NEVER AGAIN 307 a lot of electronic problems and the 308 mechanical problems and even rust after 3 jears and new bonnet after only 1 year because of rust the 3008 may look great know but lets see after 4 to 5 years
We just leased a Qashqai MY2021 and I'm incredibly disappointed. They removed so many features on it, even when you choose the Tekna-version that it now lacks comfort and safety features that most other cars have as standard or at least when you choose a higher trim. Our Tekna-version lacks: * Blind-Spot Warning * Adaptive Cruise Control * Assisted Steering * Assisted Parking * Pro- Pilot Instead they upgraded the seats. And the only difference between the second highest trim and this one is the seats, wheels and headlights. It's not very often a new MY is worse then the previous. And one could think that, with a whole new Qashqai coming they would load the latest of the old version with a lot of extras as a "Final edition" also for people interested in buying a later year model in the future.
I currently drive a Qashqai as a rental, and I must say I'm impressed. Its engine is VERY punchy, push the accelerator and it speeds faster than a sports car! Having had a 2013 quashai tekna with the 1.6 dci,and currently own a 2016 qashqai tekna 1.5dci,I feel able to comment.

I usually dont fuck with Crossovers especially Kumquats.... but this facelifted one looks pretty good
hm, wonder when the refreshed design will reach the US? seems like the car was introduced here not too long ago and i'm just now seeing them around town. perhaps they'd do better in sales with this more attractive look.
the dog was so chill
I have my qashqai 2018 (facelift) almost 1 year now its a 1.6 petrol and so far my best car ever i had peugeot 205 , 309 , and 2 new one's 307 and 308 NEVER AGAIN 307 a lot of electronic problems and the 308 mechanical problems and even rust after 3 jears and new bonnet after only 1 year because of rust the 3008 may look great know but lets see after 4 to 5 years
How about the review of Opel/Vauxhall Grandland X?
Came here to see Mat say expensive at 30K fully optioned, from a new facelifted 2024 model, at 46k… wow.
I’m jealous you can get the Qashqai with a diesel and a manual over there. Here in the states we only get the boring 2L petro with a CVT. Snooze...
We just leased a Qashqai MY2021 and I'm incredibly disappointed. They removed so many features on it, even when you choose the Tekna-version that it now lacks comfort and safety features that most other cars have as standard or at least when you choose a higher trim.
Our Tekna-version lacks:
* Blind-Spot Warning
* Adaptive Cruise Control
* Assisted Steering
* Assisted Parking
* Pro- Pilot
Instead they upgraded the seats.
