So pleased he is being tracked and protected. It is so important that he is protected from poachers and the world needs these beautiful strong elephants. Thank you for the sight of him. Kind regards from Australia.

He is much heavier than 10000 lbs.
When these bull elephants are actually weighed in captivity , Asian elephants included, they are much heavier than what is quoted in most media...
They weigh up to 18000 lbs.
The largest elephant weighed 24000 lbs.

We are around elephants almost daily here in the Lower Zambezi, from old bulls to younger ones to breeding herds. I've been super close like when they come in camp and had to capture them with a zoom lens at other times. They are always hyper aware and can sense/feel/smell us even at great distance. This guy is an impressive giant for sure !!!

Elephant herds consist of related females and sub-adult males. Males are evicted when they become near-adults, this is their way of preventing inbreeding.

Bull elephants leave herds on their own, when they are mature. They show up at a herd sometimes, when they are in musth, wanting to mate, but otherwise stay alone, or with a couple of other bulls.
