Like the review on this new HB 'toy'. I've got the Z1002 for quite a long time just to find out if crawling is something I would like. And I did. I made some modifications to it (new esc/reciever/shocks/wheels and tyres which I got from EXReal chassis) and for the price I still like it. The thing is to keep the weight low (there are metal axes for it) and more to the front. The new FJ Cruiser looks great too. After I finish my Axial 1/24 Jeep Galdiator.....
Hi. Sounds like you got a good set-up! I have added some washers to all the link rod joints to get rid of all the slack and it's much better.
I have the “new and improved”LOL! Zp1009 pick up. I have done these same mods which really help it out a lot. Not that it wasn’t capable out of the box , because it was surprisingly so come to find out. It was just a very harsh hard ride that required powering through tough terrain , only because the steering and suspension were not up to the task. Now with these simple mods I can tactically traverse through uneven terrain without having to use wheel speed all the time. I believe the only reason they called it brand new design is because of all the “new” and much scaler looking bodies, as well as stronger 5 wire ☹️servo. To me not much of an improvement. Although they always were awesome in the power and torque Dept. I got mine at an excellent price at $140 delivered. I have maybe $16 into it. I really enjoy this truck and use it a lot. Some sellers are asking over $200! Definitely not worth it. For under $150 you can’t beat it! Great job on this video brother!

Good day ! I'm a new subscriber here and was really fascinated with your review on this cheap ZP1007 to the extent that I ordered one already and has followed your free mods. May I just ask if the electronics in this model can accept without issues a 7.4V 2S 25c Lipo battery. More power to your wonderful channel.
I've looked at these, and they look quite nice, but they're a bit pricey for what they are. Especially considering you can get an RGT EX86100 Pro for not _that_ much more money from Banggood. I spent around 300 bucks for mine with shipping and electronics (cheap surpass 550 motor, eachine 6 channel system, cheap (but nice) 20kg JX servo and an ISDT ESC70, all on group buy or flash deals on Banggood). That's only about 100 bucks more than this one would cost me with shipping. Considering the RGT has all the metal and carbon fibre upgrades, really nice oil shocks, great tires and that it looks good, that's 100 bucks well spent.
Sure is. That's the point I made in the review; there's no point spending out on upgrades for this as you there are better rigs out there for a bit more money. Enjoy your RGT buddy!
@@RCModelsandMods they are quite a bit cheaper on aliexpress though, around 100 bucks with shipping and tax. At that price they're probably a decent choice, even if you would have to throw some wpl or MN upgrades on it.

For venting tires so that they don't rip. Heat up a needle and poke the rubber. Is seals the hole so it does not tear apart

You can soften the tires more by spraying them with WD-40 numerous times

Hi Marcel. Welcome to RC! 🤜 🤛No problem. They removed the chassis weights and replaced them with the wheel weights instead. This is better as it lowers the centre of gravity of the truck, making it more stable.

Yeah. Especially when the fixes are so simple and would likely make it cheaper to produce.
Like so much the zp1008 Land Cruiser comp body. Is this a 313mm wheelbase? Whant it on my 10.3 builders kit!

Hi. You would need to swap out all the electrics if swapping the esc as it uses 5 wire servo instead of 3 wire. Hobbywing 1060 is always good

No. Look similar but nothings compatible.
i had the 1002.the biggest problem that i found was it had a 1-part driveshaft,which wen the springs were under compression,the drive to the wheels wud dis-engage! are they still 1 piece on these later models?

I wonder: are the main parts of the chassis, axles, trackbars etc., the same as on the ZP1001? So when I by the Cruiser (I like it too much😅) cabn be transfered from the Defender to the Cruiser?
Hi. Yes. I believe they are the same. You might want to wait until they sell the cruiser body separately though. 👍
Same parts except esc and servo. Old servo won’t work on this “newer” model
Ah. Thought the previous servo may have been 5 wire as well. Shame they changed it so you have to swap the rest out now. 😠
@@RCModelsandMods yes that’s correct. At that point we may as well just get a hobby1040 esc and swap it all over, or just continue getting the factory parts for your specific Gen model( more expensive I believe), going the stock option
That's the right choidce: just the Hobby 1040 and I use the Dumborc reciever/transmitter. Lightswitch and all the lights work properly. Found out that there are much metal parts for the HB ZP cars. The Cruiser is coming nearer......
Can you please suggest a good replacement Servo for this model?
Hi Ryan. TBH because it's a 5 wire servo your options are limited in terms of a straight swap. You could probably get a metal geared one. If you want a much better one you would have to swap all the electrics out to be able to install a 3 wire servo, and that will cost you a lot more.

Is this thing worth upgrading?
Hi. Other than maybe a set of better tyres, no. With what you would spend upgrading it you could buy a higher spec RTR for the same if not less.

This is considered toy grade? What do you consider hobby grade? This is a copy of a Traxxas TRX which is far from toy grade. 🤷♂️
Hi. It's visually similar (deliberately) but that's about it.
The entire thing, besides the drive lines and inner axle components, is toy grade plastic. Trust me, it's toy grade.
Has anyone tried a 3s on this car?
I don't think the esc will take lipos
