    Have you ever thought about getting one of those cheap Chinese diesel heaters for colder seasons? I pipeline and and have one mounted under my seat exhausted through the floor. It gers uncomfortably hot in the truck while I'm sitting waiting for people to get out of the way. Best part is I don't have to run my truck to run the heat while I'm waiting. They run for a really long time on a few gallons of fuel.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have thought about it for snow camping 🤔 that’s a really good idea to get one for snow camping and to heat a shed/shop to keep doing projects during the winter. I’m building up the 6.2l diesel squarebody into an overlander so it would be easy to share fuel between the two.

    • @streetpunk99
      @streetpunk99 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2AOverland that's exactly what I did. Mine is piped into the 70 gallon aux tank that's in the bed which is also tied into the 30 gallon tank of the truck. So when the truck gets filled so doss the heater. It's a pretty slick set up and doing it myself cost nothing. And the best part is it works damn good. The heaters are a little goofy because they're Chinese so the menus and timers are a little strange but there are tons of videos online to show how to program them. You can do alot with them. I've seen people duct them through out whole vehicles and campers before. For the money they're hard to beat.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching, I never really got the greatest gas mileage anyways with the Jeep so I didn’t see a huge difference with the addition of the tent maybe a 1mpg loss I’d say. And for the price I would definitely get the trailhead tent again. The quality of the materials it’s made from and how well it’s made blew me away to be honest. We’ve stayed in it easily 20+ nights so far and there’s been zero issues.

    What radio service do you use the baofeng radio with. It looks like a UV-5r, so I assume Amateur Radio. Or do y'all use it for GMRS or FRS (walkie talkie) Make sure you're using the right frequencies you're licensed for. Don't want y'all to get in trouble because people notice unauthorized radio use pretty easily. I know baofeng markets them as walkie talkies, so it leads people into doing illegal things unknowingly. Happy overlanding.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don’t use the radio much anymore cause most of the people we wheel with don’t use them either. I mainly carry it for emergencies and if I’m having an issue on the trail I can happen to get ahold of somebody we’re wheeling with that does have a GMRS radio. But thank you so much for watching the channel 😊

      That’s awesome man! Do you have any videos up or an Instagram for your build? I’m running 33/12.5/15’s on 10in wide steel wheels. It honestly depends how you drive or wheel, if you’re not a lead foot a d35 would last with the proper upgrades to it like chromoly axle shafts and all that. But honestly do a 8.8 swap, they’re a dime a dozen and they have about the same strength as a d44!

    how much of a difference did the Fox shocks do in the ride feel, also why the short arm kit and not long arm ? just trying to get a perspective for my own xj overlander

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the terrain you drive it makes a big difference, I went from old blown out rough country shocks to these and it was a night and day difference. We have a lot of desert trails here that can be all washboards and the fox’s just eat them up.
      A couple months ago I rebuilt the short arms so we’re thinking about keeping them for the short term but I definitely want to upgrade to long arms for the flex offroad and the smoother ride on road. But we wanna do some other upgrades before that. Like possibly a genright extended gas tank and a SYE to get rid of the transfer case drop.

      I have a Spartan in the rear and a lock-right in the front. I guess it all depends on how you wheel if you’re gonna destroy the pinion gear or not. I’ve had zero issues with mine but we also don’t use a lot of skinny pedal while wheeling too

  • @FREEDOMSFORALL
    @FREEDOMSFORALL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey man we got the same lift, although I still have the rc shocks, how much improvement did thoes shocks do for you on dirt roads? mine on a bummpy dirt road? will pretty much rattle your teeth out.Also how about the cross over steering? Any big changes in handling on the road, day to day driving?

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I had the same shocks with my lift and I feel your pain! I ended up blowing 2 RC shocks so that’s what pushed me to the fox’s. And I have to say that the fox’s are a night a day difference compared to the RC shocks. If you have no emergency things you have to do to your jeep I would get the fox’s.
      And with the steering there’s no difference whatsoever in daily driving with it. Since it is 1 ton steering it has heims, if you let heims get dry they can squeak while turning. So as long as you keep them lubed and clean them after wheeling you won’t have any issues whatsoever.

    what have you done with the brakes ? how much less power just the vehicle have with all that extra weight ? are you happy with the 4.55 gearing or do you think 4.1 would be better ?..how does the 4.55 compare to the stock 3.55 or whatever you had ? ITS COMING...

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I upgraded the brakes to black magic brakes and it’s a huge difference I can stop well when loaded down for a trip. and there is a noticeable power difference but only going up hills, offroad or flat ground and it’s not bad at all. I’m happy I did the 4.88’s over 4.56’s so I have more torque in the hills and while offroad. If I still had the stock 3.55 gears it would be gutless for anything offroad or on the highway. I highly suggest a gear change if you’re not keeping it stock.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t blame you at all for doing the swap I didn’t want to do it either, what sold me on the brakes was watching a guy lock up his 35’s to a complete stop on asphalt after doing the brake and rotor change lol. That’s a good idea doing a 4.1 swap if you have access to getting it! For the prices those cases are going around here I’d rather save for an atlas case lol. Our fridge does actually freeze food but it consumes a lot of power while doing it 😬 if you want to save power I would pre freeze it in your home fridge or plug Dometic into a home outlet a day or so before your trip. It can easily keep already frozen food frozen too. We have used the fridge for a home fridge to store frozen food and it kept it with no issues.
