I really like the donation reader/announcer. She sounds energetic and excited.
When I was a kid I quit playing this game because I was stuck at huff n puff and I picked it up again and that's because I had 50 HP and no other upgrades
Huff-n-puff was harder to beat then final Bowser was. Like the rest of the game was cake compared to Huff-n-puff

I don't know why it took me so long to start watching these GDQ speedruns, they're a lot of fun to watch! I'm apparently too late to catch AGDQ 2016, but I've already set a reminder so that I don't miss SGDQ this year!

Also Paper Mario runs are fun to watch, and the announcer is great. Her and SpikeVegeta are probably my favorite announcers

Where should I keep them? Should I keep them in my flying castle inaccessible to everyone who doesn't have these star cards, or should I put them in the hands of my accessable and defeatable allies?
Seriously, bowser. Use your turtle brain. You orchestrated a heist that captured the most powerful creatures on the planet, built an entire castle underground to kidnap another castle, and stole a wand that literally makes you invincible, and then totally messed it up by just handing out the star cards to your weak, decidedly not invincible minions.
i mean. its better to spread them out than to keep them in one central location. Bowser had the cards spread through all the regions of the realm. Mario had to go through some really wonky shit to get half those cards. It seems illogical and stupid because we get them so easy, but thats because we are mario.

God, this game was a good chunk of my childhood. The soundtrack alone brings back so many memories. Shame the Jr. Troopa theme isn't part of the official soundtrack.

So this speedrun is about 30 minutes longer than anatomyz's 2014 AGDQ run -- are they different versions? Which one should I watch?
Edit: OK, so this is all cards, and the 2014 one was any% (before they discovered a wrong warp that saves 30 minutes or so).
The announcer says "live vigorously through you" instead of "live vicariously through you" at 1:30:22

That one donator that said that Super Paper Mario wasn't a real paper mario is so wrong. Yes, its different, but it also has character that can be seen in an actual paper mario. UNLIKE STICKER STAR
kaychan4uu not really. I can see why people hate it. It’s different. But I found it pretty decent when playing it.
N64 version has longer loading times. Wii Version has shorter loading times but has framerate problems. The Wii U version has the best framerate but it has input lag... geez. Lets hope the inevitable Switch version has no input or framerate lag.

I'm confused about how the "charge" badges work. Based on the description, using Jump Charge once adds 2 power to the next jump you do. But doing a regular jump instead would do more than 2 damage. So how does it work that it's beneficial to charge several times before jumping once (opposed to doing a jump instead of a charge on each of those turns)?

What do you mean? I know that each time you use it, it adds an additional 2/3 damage do the next attack. But wouldn't just doing a regular jump instead of a charge do about 12 damage instead?
To use actual numbers... if jump does 12 and charge adds 2 to the next attack...
Charge, Charge, Charge, Jump = your 1 Jump attack does 18 damage.
Jump, Jump, Jump, Jump = each of the 4 Jumps does 12 for 48 damage.

Robert Crawford power bounce allows you to do alot more
so you charge up ans power bounce and start at 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, oh shit hes dead
That makes sense, thanks! So Charge combined with a regular jump (or even more so, hammer charge combined with a regular hammer hit) would be bad, but because it applies to each bounce of the power bounce, basically adding a total of 15 or so to the next attack, it's great with that.
It also allows you to beat high defense quickly

question, at 1:12:18 or so, why drink the juice when there's a heart block right through the door, it is a hair slower as you can't overlap the animations, but that would save you having to get another fp item later wouldn't it?
but the heart block heals both anyway. i realize the heart block is slightly inefficient. but it can't really be slower than having to go out of your way to pick up another fp item later is it?

There are 2 star counters here so the orbs with stars are Star Points that serve as Experience points in other RPG's and the Rainbow colored sticks with a star at the end are the special move gauge. You need X number of Star Meter to use star spirit moves depending on the move.
P.S. I know this is 4 years late but hope this helps.

100% probably involves the extra bosses
You have to obtain all the badges, star pieces and cook all the item recipes. To get all the star pieces means dealing with Chuck Quizmo's 64 questions which is the bane of all casual players.
I hope this game and Thousand Year Door get remasters someday... Keep the gameplay mechanics the same, but update the graphics and maybe have remixes of the music (which you could swap between "Classic Style" and "Modern Style")...

Okay 1) Nintendo switch online would like to have a word with you. This game already came to Nintendo Switch online meaning we won’t get a remake for paper Mario 64,
And 2) we ARE getting a remake for paper Mario the thousand year door in 2024 which is this year.

It's not really all that uncommon for people to do weird things with their hands and/or get repetitive when talking in front of a large crowd. Even if they're just playing a video game, they're still performing live in front of around 100 people there at the place, and around 20k people online. I can't say if he's got something else going on, but if he does, that could also play into it too.
