Since the late 70s (when my sports consciousness was beginning) with my favorites Chet Lemon, Claudell Washington and Kessinger, I’ve been trying to learn how to fan for this team. Trying still to this day. 2005 Sox a distant memory. Seems like ‘20 and ‘21 were aberrations now. Back to ‘83, losing in DS or CS or now WC is expected and Sox only make those every 7 years or so on average. No hope through rest of this decade. I want so badly for this organization to be legitimate, but it just can’t happen without material changes and I don’t want to keep enabling it as a fan hoping for change. It’s truly sad to realize I have to stop even trying to care. If I did, would it even make a difference anyway. It’s like trying to help an addict when eventually it gets to the point I can’t help anymore unless there is true change on their part. Depressing.
