    This is among the first (and hardest) reviews I've found on the web about Citroen's Aircross, strange how so many others are praising it, quite a contrast with the recent awards: 2018 Carbuyer-Best Small SUV and AUTOBEST “Best Buy Car of Europe” 2018...

    What a total load of ****
    Obviously sponsored by the VW group. If you actually was to live with each car and had to buy and trade in with your own money you would face reality.
    I’m 64 married and we both drive, I’m 6’2 my wife is 5’2 we carry grandchildren everywhere. In 18 months we have covered 22000 miles. We have had not one fault , not one rattle and is probably one of the nicest cars we have ever owned. The 6 speed gearbox is now as smooth as silk and in no way notchy! It leaves other cars standing and brakes top notch. I have left Fiestas standing and it cruises at speeds you probably should not.
    When buying Golfs in the past the trade in prices have been laughable as have Fords. I have had more cars than I can remember and this C3 aircross flair 130hp and dealership has been the best experience ever. PS, I also had a Caymen for 4 years and still enjoy jumping in the aircross.
    Before watching this video I knew instinctively what you were going to choose.

    T-Roc "slightly more expensive" is one hell of an understatement. In Portugal, the C3 Aircross starts at roughly 16 000 euro. The T-Roc however, starts at 23 000 euro AND still has hard plastics all over the place. Ridiculous!

    • @georgealex19
      @georgealex19 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      List prices in Romania seem to sustain this... BUT, also have in mind that the list price is never the sell price, you usually can get a deal or more that substantially reduce the price of the car. From experience, you can shave about 2000-2500 euros from the VAG group, plus any government incentives (another 1400 euros here for most motors). The Citroen lineup, unfortunately is not really that competitive, as if you want a decent spec'd car, you must upgrade to the mid-spec at least. If you want the turbocharged engine, you must also buy the automatic and although the engine may be worth the extra 1k, the automatic is certainly not worth the money (sadly). Try to configure both cars, actually contact a dealership for each and you may have a surprise :) Regards!

      @@georgealex19 In greece the arona has no competition. Even if it was the same list price (which, they are not) the minute you want to finance the t-roc becomes around 10% more expensive.
      Whoever looks at the citroen buys the citroen. Whoever looks at the t-roc buys something cheaper (seat, or skoda kamiq if it will be cheaper or even the t-cross) or better (qashqai, kadjar, pretty much same money).
      The t-roc is not a sensible buy.

      I'm Portuguese, and I'll probably buy the aircross. With their renting option, it will cost around 8000€ for 3 years. That is a great value. The T-cross, with the same renting conditions will cost a tad over 13000€. And it's for the most basic level, with no option, and steel wheels. It's an absurd. The C3 might not be the best car to drive, but it's primarily for the wife commute to work, take kids to school and one or another weekend trip. I test drove it, and it's more than capable

    Shouldn't you compare T-Cross (not T-Rock) against these two models? Because SEAT Arona is based on SEAT Ibiza, and VW T-Rock is based on VW Golf, not on VW Polo. Not very fair to compare Ibiza with Golf - you should compare it to Polo. And because T-Cross is based on Polo I believe it's more logical to compare Arona vs. T-Cross (and Ateca vs. T-Rock). Then everything comes to a place: SEAT models are better than VW.

    Disagree with this review, bought the C3 Aircross, cheap, comfy, easy to drive, lots of room for the family. Still enjoy driving it, either around town, or on motorways. VW are too expensive for what they are, and the drive is a bit underwhelming. I do like SEAT’s, but not as comfortable as the Citroen. I am getting more and more frustrated with british car reviews, mostly as it is absolutely irrelevant which cars they test, the results will always be the same. There are only two (luxury brands excluded) brands that will get a british presenter's seal of approval. VW (and all related brands of the VAGinal connection) and for some unexplainable reason Ford. Everything else is by proxy crap, or faulty. It is beyond me how and why this is the case. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but honestly the eyes of the VW beholder suffer from a serious illness. Most cars are as original as a home apliance, with the exception of the Scirocco and the Beatle, which were both canceled due to (ironicly) not being in compliance with the "family design"??. The interior is (wel built granted) but as dull as ditch water, or full of colors (T-ROC and Polo), my personal oppinion is that in both cases it is "less is less" and to much is also "less". Lot's of people seem to like it, but i doubt they really love it. The mytihcal reliability is unfortunately only a myth nowadays. 2.0 TDIs are exploding, 1.2 tsis are breaking chains (not in a revolutionary way), Dry clutch DSG on 1.2 and 1.4 are as reliable as a chinese handmade watch. But i have to addmit, the residual value is pretty amazing. I have to say, that the T-ROC does not look bad at all, but pricevise can not be compared to the Citroen. And than we get to the Ford. On the outside they mostly look ok, but it seems that they take the inspiration for interior design in 10+ year old korean cars. They drive fine, that ist t true, but the overall product feels like it hasn't been finished yet, and considering the price... In the town i live there is a car dealer which is selling Fords, Hyundais and Subarus. 15 or so years ago people came to buy a Ford, and browsed the Hyundais, today is the other way around, and you can't blame them. And it's not like Hyundais are cheaper, they aren't at all, but ill take the Tuscon over the Kuga anytime.

    Good review. Whilst manufacturers have constantly improved technology, car seats appear to be chosen on the basis of the cheapest possible. I don't see why this should be the case as to provide an extending thigh support for taller drivers taking pressure off of the base of the spine and lumbar support should not be that expensive comparatively. I think that these issues should be given higher weighting in the What Car evaluations, and models without adequate seat adjustment and configuration marked down.

      I've driven all three, the Citroen certainly got more looks, the 1.2 130ps engine is fantastic but it has a horrible clutch and gearbox which makes it incredibly difficult to drive slowly but very easy to drive fast if it wasn't for the long gear throws and uncomfortable gear knob.
      I also found the infotainment VERY slow, the screen was quite dim and low res even android auto looked pretty bad on it and the rear windows were auto down but not auto up which confused me.
      For some reason Citroen decided to put in shallow cup holders in a form of a removable tray that sits in front of the gear stick, too shallow to hold a tall can, too close to the gear stick to be of any use in 1st, 3rd or 5th gears.
      Other than those personal deal-breakers, it was the comfiest, the biggest, the most practical, biggest boot, most headroom, 40/20/40 split seats, passenger seat folded flat too for longer items.

    Looks like VW are going to have a saturated SUV range when the new T Cross comes out to rival the Arona. Will we theoretically see a group test with both the T Cross and T roc in it?

    Has anyone noticed that the 6speed gearbox of Citroen c3 aircross is about 3-4 cm far to the front? I mean that when you put the 4th is where you would had a zero speed in a different car. I bought a c3 aircross and this is the only disadvantage i see. I have to straight up my hand in order to put the 3rd or 5th.

    You should definitely review your facts first. This is probably the most biased review I have seen for small SUVs with so much hate for a French car. And why put Arona and T-Roc in a 3 way comparison when they are from the same VW group? Bring in a Korean car, maybe, diversify things a little bit.

    • @sashbar
      @sashbar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      VW is not one class above SEAT. Only if you judge by the badge. In all other aspects the cars are pretty similar, same engines, same platform, same info, same bells and whistles. Different suspension and steering tuning, different configurations, but it is the same class. More than that, it is the same car. But the badge plays a huge role, I agree. Most people would prefer VW entirely for the badge. The only thing that depreciates slower in these cars is the VW badge.

    • @selindenizcebi9952

      Alexander Baranov seat arona is in the same class with the vw T-Cross, not with T-Roc. İ mean that, T-Roc is Golf class car. İ didn’t mention the badge, eventhough seat is literally one class below in terms of quality. Got it!!!!!!

    • @MsSashbar
      @MsSashbar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@selindenizcebi9952 :) I had a Leon, a Golf, a Polo and now drive SEAT Ateca. I have been driving VAGs for over 20 years. There used to be a bigger difference 20 years ago, now It is the same quality. Golf always was a very polished car, but so is Leon these days, it drives as well if not better. Same mechanically, similar materials, same body/paint quality, same knobs, same buttons, same infotainment, same ABS, same ESP, same Stop/Start, same KESSY, well, even keys are same. Same power, cruise control, same sat nav, same LEDs, same camera, same line assist, same oil pump, same engine, same transmission, same everything to the last bolt. Same reliability. Same problems. VW is sometimes better equipped, but you just need to go foe the higher spec SEAT and you will get pretty much all that for the same money. VW drives softer, SEAT is firmer and more agile. That's it. The interiors are different but it is the matter of taste. It is the same car. You can add Skoda here. These are all very good cars. The main difference is the image, i.e. the badge. If you want one class above go for Audi. There you will find more powerful engines, different transmission, a lot of aluminium instead of steel underneath, upmarket interior etc et. That is what I call a different class. SEAT, VW and Skoda are same class cars.
