There prices are outrageous! Use to be you could get a deal but now days they’re taking advantage of thrifting being popular. I don’t go to them at all!
I agree!
I’m not a goodwill shopper , because I had a friend that worked for one and I would hear the stories . I went into one with a friend some of the prices are equal to more no joke. I understand rent and payroll but when items are donated in, they are free they should be at very affordable prices because then you will flip your merchandise so much quicker.
I dont either and it pure greediness
I always know my best friends are with me! Their my life so love you doggie babies
I used to stay away from value village because they were so expensive. I never thought I’d see the day when I’d say the same thing about goodwill 😳
I live in Indiana County in Western PA. Our Goodwill is so ridiculously expensive. Then they have the "boutique" and they charge new prices. Our salvation army isn't too bad but I stopped shopping Goodwill.
The "boutiques" are the worst. People shop second hand because they can't afford new or don't want to pay new prices and yet they ask new prices for used thing that they get for free. Makes me sick to my stomach
I think Goodwill’s prices are outrageous especially since they get all these things for free.
You find the best stuff! The lamp, flowers, and chalkboard vignette is perfect!
And the bloopers …lol
I agree
Agree, don't go to Good Will anymore because of the high prices😮
I spot dollar tree items all the time. Sold way iver what It's worth. Anything of value or cute is sold overpriced.
Your dog is adorable❤️ I have a fur baby who is 18 years and nine months old…Hope your little one has a nice long life too. Loved seeing the haul, and what you did with the items👍.
I hope so too. How wonderful to have 18 years with a dog companion. Thank you!
I so enjoy your warmth and generous spirit.
Thank you so much for that huge compliment Colleen
Always a pleasure to watch your videos because you have such an eye for potential and I always learn something. I snag lampshades at At Home, too, and I love what you did to that ginger jar lamp. Its fresh and classic now.
I never thought about washing faux flowers in the tub; you are brilliant!
I do put thrifted baskets in the shower to wash the dust out of them. All of today's projects are making me think about spring. Its so danged cold here in east Tennessee that I'm looking at gardening books to deal with it. Bundle up and stay warm!
Thank you Charlene. Winter is so boring looking for me so I go straight for spring decor after Xmas haha
I loved everything! The lamp really did turn out amazing! And thank you for sharing the genius way to clean faux flowers! :-)
Thank you Jamie! So glad I could show you something new
All of your crafting made everything so pretty but the bowl of moss is Mr favorite. Great video as always.
Thank you so much Lisa!
My Goodwill is the same way in Tomball Texas. Everything only on the top of clothes racks. Not like it used to be. Overpriced items! Don't put new stuff out often. They got new credit card machines a few months ago. I've been in twice and both times they have broken down and it takes them forever to ring up everything again. She rang up the same items 7 times. I just wanted to say you know what you can keep it and walk out. Liked your flips. Yeah Strawberry Shortcake had a lot of friends and i think that was one.
I guess I won't bother going to the tomball location then
Girl, I live in MO and we had -30 windchills last week 🥶🥶🥶
Ahhh! That's so awful!
I just discovered your channel and love it ! Like how you thrift and flip and stage everything so we can see how they coordinate. Big fan! 🤗
Lmao made me laugh watching your bloopers and you talking about -12 in Missouri lol…I’m in Missouri (born and raised) and this week we’ve had -26 temps …ya just don’t go outside for more than a minute or so 😂 (at least I don’t lol)
It's so cold it burns like heat. So weird!
You are a Treasure,🤓. The cartoon girl isn’t Strawberry Shortcake herself but maybe one of her friends(?) You do very neat things with your makeovers, etc. Thank you for sharing! I truly hope you all are prosperous and especially this week, staying warm.
Yes! Love the bloopers-
Thank you Lydia I am so happy you enjoy my content!!! I wonder if strawberry shortcake had friends. It was before my time I think
She had friend such as: Lemon Meringue & Blueberry, etc.
It’s lemon chiffon or lemon meringue pie. I had all those figurines, they were made to smell like their fruit too. One year I got the strawberry shortcake gazebo. Ahhhh memories!!
I am very disappointed in goodwill lately. Ours used to be so nice now it is dirty and doesn't have much stuff ever and it is overpriced. I feel bad for people who used to be able to shop there.
Isn't it so strange! The clothing prices are shocking too
I do love all your makeovers. You make it look so simple. I also like how you use what you have and encourage people to do that too.
I agree with you on the Goodwills. I live right outside of Austin Tx and the decor items are not many!Prices are high. They are also building a lot of new centers around my area. I heard that lots of donations are being placed their online website. I still enjoy going and getting good stuff!
Wow I would never even consider buying from goodwill online. Thrifting is an in person activity for me. I know Austin has gotten so expensive for everything very rapidly.
10:00 resembles the fruit of Hedge Apples.
Oh good point
Cory...I like that you show us what is in the Goodwill stores in your neck of the woods. I agree, thrifting at Goodwill in better neighborhoods seems to always add to what they offer overall. Why are the prices so high? Even here in So Cal, I have run into that...the goods ARE used...how does Goodwill justify the higher prices? The lamp you bought and repainted looks so much better and up to date. Have a good weekend and wear some gloves, Girl!! Brrr!! Blessings! 😍💜💜🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much! Idk how they get away with it. I don't know how people purchase some of these over priced things. Especially their clothing prices
It's not funny about the temperature at all. We have been 1 degrees today. Someone told me we will be 65 next week. Idk. We have snow now and snow and Ice tomorrow. My granddaughter didn't even wear her coat home today. Idk how she managed to forget. I wear flip flops year round and don't have other real shoes. 😂 Today, I wore house shoes.
I can't imagine someone paying 315.00 for that bowl with moss. It's beautiful, but who does that? I think your lamp was a great find.
I also wear flip flops all the time. I hate wearing socks and shoes. I don't like it when it's painfully cold. I would never pay that for any home decor either. I don't care if it's solid gold lol. That is crazy
Great finds and fantastic transformations! Our area Goodwills have gone up also...I only shop on Senior Day, but you're way to young to get that discount.😊😊
I'm glad they have a senior day! Thank you!
Most days, I am unable to donate because they have no staff. The shelves are empty for the same reason. I spoke to the Manager, who happened to be there, and she said they can’t find anyone who wants to work. Staffing crisis everywhere, restaurants, stores, hospitals, everywhere.
Wow!!! I have been hearing that teenagers cannot find any work. That they apply to lots of places and get turned down by tens of places paying minimum wage. Maybe they need to start hiring some teens in goodwill. It isn't a difficult job. Maybe they can't because they hire people who have come out of jail?
I don't like Goodwill anymore they have raised the prices way to high for free donated items. Your make overs are so beautiful!
I agree
New Subscriber here👋love the basket where you places random flowers in…so Springy 🌸That shelf is a great find 👍also have to find a try not to laugh book for my grandson…didn’t even know those existed ☺️
Thank you so much. I'm so glad you're here. Check Amazon for the book
Their prices are way to high ,no fun shopping there anymore ,
everything has been donated and people on pensions can't afford to shop at goodwill anymore
I agree
Yes we definitely have reduced inventory at Goodwill and also not high quality items
I dont think they have reduced donations but maybe I am wrong. I would think they have tons of stuff they could be selling
My thrift stores are the same, empty shelves, not sure why if you ask they act like they don’t know.
It doesn't make sense
I dont shop at Goodwill anymore. They are to overpriced for things they get donated
Many are. I agree
Lovely items! Your tulip box would make a great place to keep keys! Thanks for these
Thank you Peggy great idea
TH-cam is notification are coming late 😢
Ugh I'm sorry! I wish I could do something about that but I appreciate you being here,a
We just went back I to the positive degrees with a feel of 0 today.
Yikes! Brrrr!
Great haul. They were good ones anyway. All of your projects came out very nice. You always do an awesome job. Thanks for sharing your ideas, Cory ❤. Stay warm and safe. I live in Texas as well.
Thank you so much Gina! We are cold together haha. At least it's warming up a little
@@DesertDIY you’re so welcome. Yes, we are 😂
Im in Florida, same issues. especially prices missing on many items
Such a weird issue to have! Haha
I have been binge watching you today while finally working on some projects. I seriously have been sick fine before Christmas am so behind!!😩 I LOVE your creativity, personality and videos. I’m pretty sure we’re soul sisters!! ☺️
Thank you, soul sister! I still have a cough left over from 2 weeks before Xmas. I'm right there with you!
You always find the best thrifts Cory! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I try my best!!!
Being someone who lived most of her life in a cold climate - how do we live like that? - we wear mittens when it is that cold 😂 plus because in Canada we use Celsius - all numbers below freezing are negative - hence your negative experience of painfully cold fingers at -10 Celsius 😉, and it was windy which made it even colder! Wind chill factor is something those of us in the North are very familiar with. Just as Humidity plays a huge factor in hot weather as I am sure you are experiencing in Huston after living in the desert. Funny we get hot and humid here too, -30F in winter and then 100F and humid. Maybe the question is “why do you live like that?” Rather than
“How”
Just kidding I actually love the changes of seasons and temperatures - I love swimming and also wearing lots of winter gear, and sitting by an open fire. ❤
I have never particularly liked green, but I am obsessed with that celery green.. I’ve painted quite a few small items, like birds and birdhouses and I love it ❤️❤️
I love the chalkboard on the easel! I would put a picture of fruit over the chalkboard, leave the easel as is, and put it on my kitchen counter. 😊
No need to be sorry. Any idea who she is?
@@DesertDIY
Was editing my comment cause I thought I might have sounded harsh about the lamp. Not sure who she is, but I know that Strawberry Shortcake was dressed in red with a strawberry shaped hat and fabric dress.
Great finds Cory! I love the topiaries and well all of it.
Thank you Maribel! I am so glad you liked it!
Got a chuckle from your bloopers talking about the temperature. Im in Iowa and we are just now warming up to single digits from -20 with 20" of snow this past week. Makes it hard to be outside. Loved what you did to the lamp and how to clean the flowers. Love your content! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Connie. I can't imagine dealing with that type of weather. Yikes
Strawberry shortcake had red hair - but she certainly looks like she could be part of those dolls. 😊I had forgotten about those dolls from my childhood- I had Apple Dumpling. She smelled like apple pie ❤
The ginger lamp, the shade, the floral, !and the basket are lovely
Great flips. Those flowers cleaned up beautiful
Thank you! They sure did
The bowl of moss would be perfect for a fairy garden. The thrift stores in my area of Michigan have gotten too expensive, it is rare to find a good deal. It is Very disappointing because I used to love to go shop at them. I have no goodwill stores anywhere near me. I love your projects.
We are finding the same issue in the Florida and Ga area. I’m attributing the issue as FB marketplace, Etsy, and Instagram are with more online buyers and dupe sellers are reselling items at higher prices. Our Goodwill is also higher prices. As everyone’s budget is feeling the hurt, we are all living on secondhand shopping to fill our homes. Supply and demand is the issue. If you search retail thrifts, you find a ton of resellers throughout the country. Goodwill and thrift stores are reacting by the demand.
I would have definitely picked the things that you did ( especially things like the chalkboard/easel . But there are things that you passed which i would have taken like the candlesticks w/ crystals and the moss-filled container.
Cory, thank you for being you! Your channel is my favorite! I don’t usually comment but I just had to say thanks for being positive and kind and creative. I feel like we would be friends if we lived near each other. God bless you!
Thank you so much Nicole! That means a lot to me
I love the display piece that you did with your grandmother's china! How did you attach the plates??
Here in North Carolina my local Goodwills do have a few actual employees but they depend on the courts sending them people who are required to perform community service. Here if you are sentenced to community service they most often send you to work your time at Goodwill. Goodwill then utilizes that help to stock their shelves. I'm not sure if that is something is just done here locally where I am or if that is a common practice in other areas as well. Might be why they have not had enough help to stock their shelves.
*Enjoyed your LIVE, Cory...I didn't know you did live videos...what a nice surprise for me❣️😉*

Where can I find it? All of my videos are premieres with a live chat! This Sunday I will have another one 😀
@@DesertDIY *Thanks for letting me know you'll have a live on Sunday. I will try to catch it...what time is it, Cory?*
I usually do them around noon central time.
I agree the thrift store below my house had some ppl working there that would look up prices stuff on internet& things were do high
But the first lady who worked there has came back& prices are soo much better
you must live in my area. I recognize the goodwills. fun finds!
The goodwill stores in my area are overpriced unfortunately
I don't know how far away from Sugarland/Rosenberg/Richmond tx area, but they are in the Houston area, and they all have great Goodwill's, never disappointed at them.
I'll check those out some day. I'm north but I'd be willing to drive south to make some videos of those goodwills
looks great! one suggestion - tape the lampcord before painting lamp
I wish i was there to get those pig canisters lol I have been looking for a set when thrifting and have not been so lucky to come across any.
No she isn't strawberry shortcake but maybe one of her friends strawberry shortcake is red and white and has strawberries on her and her hat is like the top of a strawberry
Not Strawberry Shortcake! Our thrift stores are low in Ohio as well!!
Qi would have picked up the large greenish flower pot
I love all your stuff bit I'd much rather hear you talk and not the music!
On the white lamp try using pure acetone and I am pretty sure it will take the decal off
What a nice change for the lamp!! Can't wait to see the wooden shelf unit in the bathroom!!
Thank you Caroline
Your Goodwill stores are so much better than mine.
The topiary balls look like breadfruit!😂
Im so glad you had to put that hideous tray back! Yuk!! 😆
I love how you hung your plates on the bead board - so cute!
Thank you! That will all be part of my eat in kitchen makeover video some day
I really liked the yellow vase. Not crazy about the color, but I would have painted it a different color.
It had good bones
I would’ve got that $4.99 basket and saved it for Easter. Maybe spray paint it white a build on it for a nice dining room centerpiece .
That's a great idea
I saw a video in the last week where a woman was making dupes from pricy stores. She actually did the mossy piece. But you of course got the real thing.
I have seen a lot of moss projects and they look great too! I bet I spent less than they did making the dupe too lol. Just a lucky find!
The Eiffel Tower lamp would be fantastic without the lampshade and an interesting light bulb on top.
That's a cool idea
Watching an old video, because I’ve missed you the last week! So happy to hear that you have power back. Take care. Charlotte xx🇬🇧
Thank you so much Charlotte
French lamp with pink lamp shade
I only really have 2 goodwill store in my area. I live in between them so it's about 10 to 12 miles from my home in opposite directions. There are other thrift shops, about 3 of them, one being a restore, but they price 1 or 2 more than goodwill on smaller items. Our goodwill stores don't do bins as far as I know. They seem to be staffed o.k., lots of stuff. My niece works at one of them I will have to ask her. My first thrift was 32.00, the pricing if all sell will be 330.00. I redid everything, including baskets, either painted or added ropes and beads, or transfers. I did picture frames with Das molds, mushrooms and frills, then added fairy transfers for the pics. I guess I will see how they sell. My second thrift was 43.00, working on them now, I will let you know how it goes. I would take 14 degrees in a heart beat here, slammed with snow well over a foot and 6 to 8 degrees mostly all the time. Really can't spray or sand outside because way to cold. Yes, we are used to it a little bit more here in MI., thanks for sharing your thrifts!!!
I hope you get top dollar for your makeovers! Do people still go out and shop in that type of weather?
@DesertDIY yes, I was surprised the day I went. The roads had been glare ice. I almost rear ended a car only going about 5 mph. I had to go pick up meds and take xmas stuff out of my booth, which was the only reason I went out! I think I did get better stuff that day so maybe a few less people. The parking lots were full of cars!
That was not strawberry shortcake. My niece loved strawberry shortcake, she will 44. But turned that lamp very. Beautiful.❤
Thank you! I appreciate it
I thought about something when you were comparing prices at Goodwill locations: we have "good" thrift stores in my area where you can find great stuff that's still fairly inexpensive, and we have ones where the prices are too outrageous for used goods. Goodwill tends to be one of the "bad" ones. However, I recently picked up a small 1970s Thomasville pecan-finish credenza with "radio-weave" rattan panels at Goodwill for $30 to use in my craft room. I was thinking that $30 was a bit much (the sides are plywood beneath the veneer), but I really need the storage. Yesterday I found that same piece, tarnished brass ring pulls and all, for $750 on Chairish. Now I think I didn't do too badly!
How awesome! I love when I find stuff like that too. But yes I wouldve felt like I over paid at first like you did.
Hey! New friend here. I am glad to know that it’s not just the Goodwill stores near me that price so high! I have a booth as well so it’s hard when you can’t find those lower prices. I am also finding that the stores around me don’t really have much.
Isn't it such a bummer! Yard sales are harder to find now too. Thank you so much for watching, I am so happy you are here
It’s a problem everywhere. There is a lot of COVID right now and a lot of staff is sick.
Oh good point
Looks like a pretty good haul.
I really love the moss bowl, it's my favourite, I'm just wondering if I could replicate it. Thinking cap on 😂😂
I am sure you can make something similar
Always great watching your videos. Maybe also do more, 'Dupe for Less' - Dupe High-end expensive items for Less with items from the Thrift store. God bless you and your family. xox
Thank you Michelle. I definitely will do more of those when I find them
Hi Cory I am a first time seeing your video.enjoyed your channel I will be watching your videos thanks for sharing.😊
Thank you so much Bertha, I am glad to have you here
Over here in South Texas The Rio Grande Valley the goodwill stores don't have much and if they do it's over priced which I find ridiculous cause the item's were donated .. On another note we're going to be in the 70s by tomorrow or Friday your fingers will thaw out stay safe and blessed
Yay for some normal weather coming. It really is hard to respect the greed for things that were donated. I wonder if that will ever change
@@DesertDIY wouldn't that be good but I doubt it . What worked for me is that I bought an outdated tall vase I added air dry clay rose's and Greenery all done with clay and gave it a cottage look not hobbit looking 😂😂 thought I share some inspiration when you find a boring vase or lamp
We’re iced in here in Washington State so it’s hard to believe it’s time to think about spring decor.
Haha! I dont decorate for "winter". I go straight to spring after Xmas because winter is so gray and boring without any leaves on the trees etc. I add the green INSIDE lol
It wasn't Strawberry Shortcake. Maybe Lemon Meringue.
Maybe Holly hobby
Definitely not Strawberry Shortcake. She has friends Lemon Meringue etc. but that doesn't look like any of them. It looks like its a version of Holly Hobby she is usually depicted with braids but there are some cartion versions that she didnt. In modern depiction she even wears jeans. Just found your channel. I enjoyed it.
Oh ok thank you! I am so glad you're here.
Lady you are so fun. Go in and warn up! Thank you for sharing
Always enjoy your videos. Have fun summer is coming 😊
Thank you! You too!
An old post that came up in my Facebook memories today said that in 2015 childrens clothes up to 2t were $1 and over 2t were $2 at ny local goodwill. Theyre between double and 10 times that price now.
for used clothes. Sometimes more expensive than new clothes at walmart
Strawberry Shortcake has red hair. But maybe they had more than one style.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe they had different girls that were similar?
That ginger jar lamp is Holly Hobby, strawberry shortcake is pink and red ❤
Oh wow! Finally we know who it is thank you
If it makes you feel better it’s -7 with the wind chill today where I am. I’d take 30 any day now. Also I would have bought that yellow vase. I would have repainted it.
Yikes that's cold!
We in the NW have GW bins but I haven't been there yet. The GW prices are high everywhere. And I would have gotten the tall glass items. They looked vintage.😅🎉❤
Good eye! Yes such a bummer about these prices 😕
I love small lamps! Love the balls! Rusty bins! I plant flowers for my porch in those, deck too! Big white basket for Smooch Mellos or dog toys. Blue scribby in tub cob web chaser, ha! The little chalk board "God loves You". Cute topiaries!Put that box on a desk, bill paying station! Put lil tag in slot, Bills. That was fun. thanks! I've lived in Michigan 75 years, you NEVER get used to the COLD! or snow, wind, ice, blah!
We’re in Denver. 3 days ago we were below zero We were at BlackEyed Peak for dinner and a family sat down. They said they flew in from Houston and how cold it was there. Couldn’t believe that
It happens about once a year here for 2 days usually. Very strange stuff
Can you find hand warmers that go in your pocket . Or just wear gloves. We don’t mind. Thank you for braving the cold
I thought it would be quick and I wouldn't need to go dig out some gloves but wow I sure paid for it
I’ve only been to the bins. Maybe twice. We in east central Iowa are required to wear gloves, either bring your own or buy they’d. Love that blue shelf with the hooks. ❤❤❤
Wow! Interesting. But I understand why
Love to watch bins trips, we have nothing like that here (in Sweden). The lamp was my favorite! Is it my headphones or was the audio off in this video? Was very low in some parts.
Yes the audio was off. Sorry! It sounded good when I edited it but once I put it on youtube it was wonky
The cold was unreal....I hope you fare better when it comes back friday. My sister opened her garage and had a heater in it for her chickens. They decided to roost on top of the chicken coop. Amazing the chickens all survived. I want a Goodwill bin store!
Chickens actually do better in cold weather than they do in heat but they are still able to get frost bite. Wild birds survive the cold so I can see why chickens can too. I miss having my flock of chickens 😞 I didn't realize we were getting more cold weather yikes
Sadly yes, but only Friday and Saturday. Not quite as cold as it has been. Next week is slated for rain and temps in the upper 50's. Making me long for spring.
Goodwill shouldn’t have a staffing crisis considering that they have “ job training “ at some of their facilities. It just doesn’t make sense for me to shop there anymore with the low stock and crazy prices
Very true
Goodwill is ALWAYS a bust for me but it’s the pricing….sad
Yes so sad
The baskets are great for storage.😅🎉❤
Our Goodwill is crap! They take the good stuff for themselves !
That stinks
Nice job on the lamp and basket of flowers. I love when things fall into place too! BTW, the colors on the fake flowers don't fade in the bleach bath?
They did not. I was surprised! If it were very saturated colored flowers I bet they would have faded.
