      AskDoctorJo I have been having lower back/hip/buttocks pain from sciatica. A doctor recommended your videos and suggested I try strengthening core. Which of your videos do you suggest I start with? Core, sciatic, hip, they all seem like they would be helpful.

      AskDoctorJo I have been having pain in my lower back on the right side that travels to the right upper front side of my right thigh. The muscle on that side of my thigh is visibly larger than on the left side. It burns so much when I go any distance that I am afraid to walk too far from my house. I have seen a physical therapist but nothing has changed. Help please.

      Hi.Thanks for this important video.I have a question. It is about the rotation .I can not rotate my body.I can not turn my pelvis"basin" and I have a difficulty and a pain when I want to get of my bed or to twist my body .

    I had pain for years went to massage therapy a lot of time and nothing happened , this exercise has instant relief. You're awesome!

      The problem is that the therapist know how to solve the problem in just few time, but since it's their business they want to earn as much money ask they can with each patient... this the cruel reality😢

      I am now currently in this situation, I already had this suffering for more than a week.. it is very painful.. I cannot walk properly I cannot do my work properly.. I took a massage theraphy but it didn't work.. it still painful.. I have to try this routine until my pain relief thank you for the guide doc🙏 God bless

      I'm watching right now as well Ola and it's 2:56 am. It's certainly helped relieve the pain for me today. I'm hoping by doing exercises right before bed will help ease the pain in the morning when I wake, which for me, is the absolute worst pain of the my day. Thanks Doc!

      Natasha Jones I have the same issue getting up in am is the absolute worst, have to square myself, hobble to kitchen to take painkiller then I can do couple things physiotherapist gave me to do. I have right side entire leg into foot tingling too. Ache is debilitating. Have had for too long.

    I was in so much pain this morning. I did all these stretches for 30 seconds, three times on each side. I felt so much better afterwards. The pain is gone. Thank you so much Dr. Joe. I can now focus on my other daily activities.

      Sweetheart make sure you keep at it and keep it stretched I am 60 years old and have not been able to walk normally for over 6 months from this horrible pain. A lot of it comes from sitting too much. So happy that you found the relief I'm going to try it also!

    I am 54. Just recently diagnosed with this in the ER! It hurt painfully for me to step down on my right leg to walk. I needed a wheelchair to triage. Now, I have your stretches saved to my Playlist to assist along with meds until I make an appointment with my Orthopedic. These stretches feel wonderfully good 👍!!! Thank you!!!

    I was diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome a few weeks ago.. It’s so bad I’m now in a wheel chair because I cannot bare any weight on my affected leg. My doctor has me on Steroids (Prednisone) right now which is definitely helping, and I’m starting Physical Therapy next week.. But I’m DESPERATE to try anything that will help me!! I’m 28 and I have a 2 year old son and he’s been so upset and acting out bcus he hates seeing mommy in pain and that I can’t run around and play with him anymore… It makes me wanna cry just writing this.. I’m so desperate to be mobile again, I havnt walked in 3 weeks and I cannot wait for the day I can walk and run around with my son again! So I will DEFINITELY be trying these stretches starting today!! I Pray that this helps to give me some relief!!

    Thank you doc for this video, it helps me so much with the pain!
    I've had this pain for 5 years, and just realised it's a kind of syndrome. My parents keeps on dismissing my complains about the pain as a mere sore muscles, only last week they allowed me to go to therapy. The therapist told me about this syndrome, and here I am, learning about these streches to ease the pain while waiting for my weekly therapy session💜

    This is useful!!
    I am suffering from a year and till now it’s so painful it doesn’t have a medical treatment just a pain killer help for a certain time only !!!
    Only massage and exercise help for this pain this pain is mild to moderated !!!
    Just love this video and plz tell me how many time we should do this in a day?

    I have this severe pain after my leg workout. I usually occurs since my right side is weak but this time it has been intense. These exercises have relieved my pain to much extent.

    I have lost all my weight, muscle mass and fat which has increased the amount of pain I feel in my back to my legs. This doesn’t loosen the tightness in my butt (yet) but I can feel the stretch. It’s been so painful for the past 8 months and I wondered why I was not getting relief from massage 😩thank you for this. I will save and continue these exercises daily. Hopefully the tightness will go away.

      Hi!! I have a similar story. I've lost muscle mass in my right glute and part of my lower back, I feel pain in lower back, butt, and some localized pains in my leg, ankle and even in the sole of the foot. I've been dealing with this since June 2022 and of course like in your case the tightness in the butt is really annoying. Some days I feel like everything is ok, but most of the days are bad.

    God bless you Dr. Jo! I damaged my pelvic growth plate as a child falling from money bars onto concrete - flat on my back, and I’ve had back problems ever since. Horrible spasms etc. A physical therapist years ago told me that my piriformis was extremely tight. These exercises are great! Instant relief! You are amazing! 😊. I will be doing these stretches daily now, as I have a desk job and sitting for long periods of time causes me problems at night. 🙏🏻

    I came upon your videos while randomly searching for ideas to relieve sciatica pain that had developed from a lot of cycling. I had tried a lot of rolling and other stretches but wanted to let you know that I firmly believe that the modified pigeon stretch in this video was the cure for my issue. Just wanted to thank you

      I'm glad you're feeling better, Jonathan. But know that you might have piriformis pain for a long, long time. Just make the stretching exercises part of your daily routine, and you should be pain free (from someone who knows).

    I have been doing stretches for that muscles but wasn't sure if I was doing it right. Went to get a massage for the first time today and the masseuse text me this video. She said this was one that she felt like it fully demonstrated the moves to get relief.

    I've had problems with my piriformis muscle ever since I had a bad fall in high school. We're talking over 50 years now! For years, no physician could ever diagnose the problem. My parents thought I was a complainer, but I had pain every day after the fall -- and to this day. It has impacted my career because I can't drive in a car for more than 20 minutes, thus limiting my career opportunities in the city.
    Two years ago a physical therapist diagnosed my problem and showed me some of these exercises. I have found that if I stick to this stretching routine, I actually have days without pain (still can't drive in the car long, though -- a killer!). You demonstrated two more stretches in this video, and I thank you for posting it.

    Instant results!! I hurt myself at work lifting something heavy and twisting while bending down. My mobility hasn’t been the same since with deep pain mostly in left thigh. But I did these stretches for less than 15 mins and i felt much more normal than I have in a long time. I’m never ignoring stretching again thank you very much.

    This is seriously so helpful. You impart so much knowledge and always go through lots of different adjustments for different needs. I've been having some serious full-body pain radiating out from my hip (probably left over from a pregnancy) and this is helping a lot!

    Thank you! These exercises really help. My question is, I have had an issue since my car accident 11 years ago. Is there a way to be completely healed or is it something chronic i will have to live with?

    Thank you so much I’ve been looking for stretches concerning this problem. I make deliveries and I’m driving daily about 4 hours. I’ve developed this pain in my lower back, my butt, down my leg. I’ll be doing this.

    I got sciatica a week ago. I got a toradol shot and prednisone. I have been watching your videos and using these stretches and see a difference. I haven't worked out in a week and I'm trying my best to begin again. Thank you!

    Wow. These stretches literally had instant results. I have had the pain on and off for a long time. I just assumed I pulled something. I found out later it was due to sciatic nerve. This was the first video I tried, and I literally can’t believe how much better it feels. Thank you!!

    Hey Dr Jo....Thanks so much for your video, i had this Piriformis pain for about 2 weeks ,after watching your video can't believe it the pain has gone a feel so much better...so now i apply the exercise every other day .. I AM FEELING SO GOOOOOOOOD..YOUR THE BEST.....

    Is there some exercise that makes this muscle strong, or these stretches on a daily basis, make the piriformis loose?
    Also what role does gas play, i passed it out 3 or 4 times, doing these exercises and it subsided the pain as well!

    These stretches really work! Was dealing with sciatica for months. One night I couldn't sleep. Found this video and almost inatant relief. After a few days the pain was completely gone. If it comes back I just look up this video and get back to being pain free!

    Wow! I am impressed. My Sciatica was really hurting tonight. I couldn’t sleep. I decided to try some stretches, not really expecting much, but after doing a couple of theses stretches, the pain totally stopped. Thanks for posting these!

    Hi dr Jo, i'm from Indonesia
    I think i have sciatic pain, it's been 1 month
    It's really painful when i'm sitting down for the certain time especially during wfh. I can't check my self to neurologist because they are in hospital, and it's not a safe place for me during this pandemic. Is this exercise same with physiotheraphy? How many days should i do this exercise to make this pain gone? Btw thanks for making this video

    Been dealing with this for years, since I initially injured my leg working in a bakery. It got so bad my leg was dead weight by the end of my shift I couldn't walk on it without my left giving out. I had to quit the department for my current one (best choice EVER!) but now I am having issues again... I know this is what is going on and I'm sure my doctor will agree too when I describe this to him when I finally see him for it next month. I'm giving this a go and hopefully this might help a little bit! I'm only 23 and I don't want to end up not being able to walk at all when I hit 40!

    Omg thank you 😊..I love these I just randomly started this sciatica pain.. As an RN I knew it was sciatica but had no idea how to address it.. I had heard of stretches but wasn't sure which ones 🤔 and was concerned about finding inaccurate info and making it worse.. found your page and this video and started feeling better right away.. omg I could feel that muscle just crying out in relief.. thank you so very much 💓

    Thank you so much for this video. My leg has finally stopped twitching and the pulsating spasms are much lighter after doing these stretches.

    Went to my HMO with left buttock and leg pain thinking my back was out. They checked and said no nerve damage, just muscle pain. Gave me prescription for Naproxen and to come back if not better. Didn't mentioned piriformis syndrome. I had to go on line for that and that certainly is my problem as I exercise a lot and not very good at stretching. Went through a couple of videos and yours was the best. Just starting your stretches and it seems better already. Thanks. I have subscribed.

    Dear Dr Joe THANK YOU!!!!!!!
    Yesterday i was in pain as usual for the past 2 years. In the evening i did the exercise to align my hips (my problem is on my left pirifomas).
    I was in too much pain to do anymore. In the middle of the night i did the induction exercise.
    The area popped...... I stood up & walked away pain free!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I did the induction exercise will sitting on the toilet crossing my arms place my fists on each inner knee. I pushed out with my wrist & in with my knees.
    Maybe this can help someone else who is suffering from the same issue. 🧐💕👍🏾🥰🙏🏾😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

      AskDoctorJo they said there is a nerve compressed near the neck and surgery is a very risky option
      I am not in U.S
      I will manage to contact you for evaluation if that’s okay
      When I am back in U.S
      You videos helps a lot
      But Sometimes it’s confusing and If I end up doing the wrong stretch, than it brings the pain back

    Great guide thanks. At nearly 39 and into training since 12, having to consider stopping boxing training and not achieving what I wanted to. However, health first, this video is really useful and hope it helps, will try this out
