I am a 70 year old vegan man and I live on a Military base in Southern Callif. I tried group riding with a bunch of young Marines and was left in the dust. Bought this Creo and now am able to ride with these young guys and have fun!
Ha! Love that big smile of Von's 🤗I just bought the 2023 Creo SL road bike version and an extra set of wheels to swap out for gravel rides! I can't wait to fly up the hills! WooHoo! Plus I'm always stuck sucking off my husband's wheel - no more! Now I can keep up with the fast boys 🥰 Here in Canada the motor cuts out at 32 kph.
That's the beauty of an e-bike, especially for those of us over 50, takes the fear out of the big hills and let's us enjoy the ride. Von's comment about the push from behind is so true. My mountain bike with Swytch kit added weighs a ton but boy it puts a smile on my face when that motor kicks in.
Great video and the chemistry you and Vonn have is also great. My wife loves her e-bike. She can ride farther and still gets a good workout. Those people that look down on e-bikes are not purist bikers themselves. I'm sure they have their carbon, di2 24 speed bikes. E-bikes allow more people to get outside and ride, what's the problem?
I just purchased a Specialized SL Creo comp carbon, and I love it! You’re never to young for an e bike! Mine is large and weighs 28 lbs., and without the assist, it pedals like a regular bike.
My wife has been riding an e-bike for a few years. I remember the first time we rode up a hill after she got the bike. I slowed down for her as I usually did and she shot past me like I was standing still. I'm pretty sure she had the same smile on her face that Von had... Good memories.
We've got the exact same combination (Specialized Turbo Creo Comp Carbon Evo for my wife and Cervelo Aspero with a custom mullet build for me) at home and we're really enjoying it. It significantly extended the opportunities we do have to spend quality time on the bikes together. Highly recommended!
Great to see Von in the videos again out enjoying the bike, her face pure joy it's what it's all about, and that Canyon Sram Jersey 👌🏼 happy cycling folks.

I just bought the S-Works creo (I'm a bit older now and have some old injuries which prevent me from riding with younger guys / doing some rides I used to be able to), and I can honestly say best thing I ever bought. I can now go out on more rides than I would ordinarily be able too, without holding others up. Its still a lot of hard work but prevents further injuries. Obviously you aren't going to go racing with these things, but they do open up cycling to so many people who ordinarily wouldn't be able to, with groups they wouldn't be able to. It makes cycling social again, and lets be honest, if they get more people off the sofa and out on the bikes it can only be a good thing. OK, they might mot be putting out 400 watts, but even 150 watts for an hour or so is better than none sat on the sofa. One brilliant feature is you can link with heart-rate monitor so assistance kicks in/out to keep you in a zone. Fantastic pieces of kit. Another great vid - keep up the good work...
This has been every reasonable hill I ride with my wife since she got her ebike last year 😂 Still, I get a good workout fighting to keep up with her...
I have been riding the S-Works Turbo Creo European version SL with 9800 Km over 12 months now. It is a fantastic machine yet one thing. I only ride with the range extender as I had to have the internal battery removed due to travel regulations. I rarely use the battery as I usually ride above 27 Km/h on average, so I get some assistance on uphill climbs. I have pulled 100 km on the range extender alone using mainly the lower assist power. The workout is fantastic. I shall say the cassette 41t limits your speed on flat to a maximum speed of 35 km/h at total watts power. It means that you are a bit slow on flat compared to the tarmac, for example, but on hills, you are the champs. So no problem keeping up with my fellow riding regular bikes. The weight of the bike and cassette setup slows you 1-3 Km/h about compared to a Tarmac (tested). The feel is very comfortable on long distances. What I like the most is the capability to go off-road gravel as you wish. Thank you for sharing this video - very nice to see you how you both have fun!
My wife got an ebike last year so we could ride together (at a reasonable speed). I draft behind her in the wind now. They are such great machines for casual cyclists.
I have the same Turbo Creo SL...I’m an MTB guy but now I’m completely in love with that Egravel bike I’m a heavy rider...85kg...last weekend I did 100k on 3h55 at 25kmh average speed with strong winds half in sport a half in turbo mode and I finished with 25% of battery left...very impressive
I have a Creo as well and am loving it. I am planning a 4 day Easter touring trip. The only extra thing I need to think about is a power point each night. Should be fun. AND ... thanks for the Ride on the other day. Put a smile on my face. :D
With an eBike, you can use anywhere from 0 to full power assist, so you can still get a great workout when you want, by turning off the power. eBikes are inherently heavier so you will get a workout...When you're tired you can use the power assist to cruise along and get the wonderful assist on the hills as shown here. It's foolish to look down on them......
I'm 68 and i converted my old mountain bike with an electric rear wheel hub and hills and headwinds are are a lot easier now . You still get a workout and i'm riding a lot more and a lot further so it's not cheating but a great help for oldies who still want to ride and get some fitness without working up too much sweat :-)
That ebike isn't slow going downhill. The only time it gets hard is on the flat when it disengages. other than that, they are brilliant. had to buy one to keep up with my wife on her ebike.
Given it shuts off at ~25km/h and goes backwards FAST when you stop pedalling it's a tricky one for group rides.... We'll dive more into this in the full video.
A dream bike right there, could see one in my life. Perhaps as a long distance commuter or for recovery days when it’d be tempting to put away the bike.
Great video. Terrific seeing Vonn ride away on the hill. ;-) eBikes for commuting, shopping, and other purposeful personal transport. Fantastic. For recreation??? Mixing ebikes in a pack of others on regular bikes??? How about taking an eAssist to the weight room. Or an ePropulsion to a pool lane.
Endurance Sweat: Yes, even in a pack of regular bikes. One day you'll see that it's okay and works. Most people take awhile to read the writing on the wall.
Great bike even better with 40 tooth chain ring as it removes the redundant highest gear ( I rarely pedal much above 25 kph ) and allows me to ride unassisted with my slow group but still use the assist to get to the meeting point
This is the perfect example of why Stravae should have a separate category for ebikes for KOM/QOM. At least now I know what to get my wife so she can go on rides with me.

Climbing...Climbing with an e-mtb on the trails. I was recently absolutely destroyed by a (cough) ex? "friend" on his new e-mtb going up hill. After swapping bikes (so I could recover from near terminal hypoxia before the next loop) I get it now, they are a world of fun.
Sorry....how can you live with yourself having fun while biking? That isn't allowed. You must crush KOM's and look down on other people to justify the money you spend....that is the way...right?
Now you know how I feel on a climb. At 62 years old and 98 kilos down from 107 on Christmas day, my goal is not to get lapped by the runners or cruiser bike types.
The latest is usually the best to go with. They’re not really designed for long recording with looping memory card usage like the Cycliq range.... but given the potato quality and poor customer experience a lot of Cycliq owners have, I guess it’d be suitable in 1080 with a large capacity card installed.

Although the result is already pretty much clear, it'd be interesting to see it in the terms of actual numbers.

At that time I could not sit on my regular bike for longer than an a few minutes. It has been a fantastic opportunity to keep up with biking. Ha ha, I love this, I have an shopper ebike with the motor built into the rear hub, you can't see it inbetween the disk brake rotor and the cassette. The number of blokes on racing bikes that have tried and failed to beat me up a medium grade hill is hillarious.

My partner here in NZ (incidentally she is Australian) has the SL Expert but we changed it up to be more Gravel specific, anyway here in NZ it’s limited to 45kph before it stops assisting.
