okay i was utterly obsessed with this song when I was like 12 and now I think I get what got me so hard about this song
This turret, imaging themself in Wheatley's position repeatedly insists that they'd "be a better core" than him, but despite this, they don't actually describe themself as doing anything different than he did, thus calling attention to how little control Wheatley really had over his circumstances. or something like that
No, Wheatley had all the control in his circumstances. He was in charge of the whole facility and didn't want to give up that power, even though deep down he knew he was undeserving of it and that his actions will only doom Aperture Science.
It's more of an envy song. Turret envies Wheatley for being a core, thinking of itself to be more deserving of such luxury. As it turns out, she's just like him. Taking everything she had for granted, while complaining about its flaws. Neither cores nor turrets are better, they are just different, which is something that turrets do not understand. Different purposes, different lives, different problems and obstacles, and different hardships.

I feel so bad for Wheatley, I think it's the body that made him go evil. He was so friendly until he was put into GLaDOS's body. I think the body programs the core into only doing what it was designed to do. That's why GLaDOS turned to your side after she was taken out, and also

why she sent you away after you woke up at the end of the game, because she knew she was going to turn evil again. And his apology at the end of the game in the credits felt so sincere. I just want Wheatley to come back so we can be friends again.

Honestly, I think Wheatley was corrupted from the beginning...because he's not a moron. Wheatley only starts acting like a moron once you plug him in, and the Mainframe seems to break most cores that are attached to it. We know Wheatley was attached to GLaDOS at some point, so maybe he was corrupted to not be a moron.
He is absolutely not friendly... always make fun of Chell , say her fat...
At one part of the chapters before he was into GLaDOS's body he said he hated humans and wanted to kill them it was in the part where they got out of the chambers and made their escape to the main area where GLaDOS is.

@@Kayta-Linda Ok, but not personally. It was the mainframe's fault. The mainframe is corrupt, and it corrupts anyone who's plugged into it.
Notice how while GLaDOS is in charge (in the mainframe) she's evil, but as soon as she's out (and in a potato), her character changes? She becomes civil.
In the same way, Wheatley was harmless. But as soon as he was put in charge (by being plugged into the mainframe), he became corrupted, and turned evil. Then, once he was out, he went normal again.
It wasn't his fault. He was responsible for what happened, but he was corrupted by the mainframe.

I mean it's hard when everyone is forcing you to think you're stupid. Wheatley wasn't the greatest mind of his generation but I don't think he was stupid. He came up with a plan to kill you even after you went past everything he had for defense. He just had so much to work with, he thought ahead and stockpile defensively usable stuff. He knew how to take GLaDOS out, and if Chell didn't randomly survive a massive explosion, Wheatley, would've had a lunatic-proof plan.

This is actually a really sad song, it makes me look at turrets in a different way. Imagine one, just one of them, one among those you break, that you push down to the floor actually has feelings. How would you feel if you had been created to do one job in your entire life, and then you got destroyed by a stupid girl running around with a portal gun.

I love how it's in the the turret's pov but it's talking about Wheatley
If you think about this... The way it starts off makes it seem like a wish, but It quickly evolves into Wheatley's story. It really makes you think about how sad it is from that perspective. Wheatley is an amazing core in general, but you were the one who pressed the button and made him into the "bad guy". He even says don't press the button, but changes his mind because of GLaDOS. And from his perspective, you may have been the controlling one. And you also sent him to space. So to be honest... Are you the bad guy in Portal 2?
No not really. If I recall when he started saying don't press it was because the voice said something bad would happen if it was pressed but then it said something else and it sounded like it would be fine. And what made Wheatley go insane was the programming inside of the body, but unlike GLaDOS, he didn't have the programming to deal with it.

Uhm, okay that's a little bit too strange. Is the future predicted just by the appearance? I mean, turret sings about if she were a core, she would do exact steps like Wheatley did. And she wouldn't do that as a turret. In other words, can we copy someone's life by becoming them? If we have changed our appearance, does it change our destiny as well? Theory confirmed, turrets can be cores. I made a model, it seem to work even tho it's kinda scared of it's core life for now. You can see it in the video Meet the cores at 1:33
