I’m mutating a carno army now. Are they great? No, but I like carnos, the game has a lot of bosses and cool Dino’s, and having lots of options keeps it fresh. This is about what I expected, though I think you might have won alpha broodmother if you jumped on a carno’s back. Maybe. Great video, much appreciated
I think there's more to it than that, yuty has more drag weight than the therizino, dire bear, anky, trike, and carno but it has only happened to the carno so far
I guess this video is old news by now, but I’d be extremely curious if trying carnos again with just a single Rex or two with high health or stego in defense mode would change the outcome, or if everything would eliminate the one tanking creature or even continue ignoring it to focus on you
i reslly like this series just seeing how they do against the bosses it kinda funny though how the bosses didnt really care about the carnos im kinda curious how the carno alternative the allos do or the mammoths even
The weird targeting you experienced in this one, as many others have commented, is an intentional feature of boss ai that they target the largest creature so long as the player doesn't attack it directly. I tend to make use of it to fight the dragon boss using direwolves and a tanky stegosaurus, because the boss ignores the dogs biting at its feet the whole time and only attacks the stego instead. My only question is why it happened with the carnos and not the ankylosaurs. I thought it just had to do with drag weight but maybe there's more to it?
We'll have to see if it pops back up in some of the other fights. I'm sure we'll see it again, if not i'll run it with the carno again on my own and see if its replicated.
Im actually breeding carnos to do this thanks to you video i know ill need a megatherium to follow the yuty to protect for brood and probably an all hp rex to tank the monkey dragon could probably be done the same way just on big dino to hold agro i appreciate the video now i have insight on how not to get wiped the first time i try it
@@phillip6370 I've been doing this as well but mutations have avoided me lol my babies hatch around 4368hp and 425 melee. I've used these since evolved for the easy element
Hey, would love to see terror birds, baryonx, and mammoths. Herbivores should get a standard like 5 cakes per tame. Nobody who does dragon with theris would do so without cakes. 4 breath attacks and everything is dead. Instead of trying to hit 22k HP, maybe just do a standard amount of wild points into HP and melee and then the 55 levels distributed how you see fit? Those carnos were 170 wild points in health. Maybe set it to like 150 wild points for both melee and health? That's like 50 mutations on a wild 50 stat. Also, there are commands to set the wild stat of a creature, which might be easier to work with.
Bosses ignore creatures below a certain size classification. You know how when you have a megatherium in a normal cave, the onyc and araneo ignore you? But if you were on a baryonx, everything would aggro to you instantly. That size difference is what determines when a boss will target you or will target your tames. This was a common tactic in ASE with deinonychus, since they were small enough and would be ignored by the bosses. I could be mistaken, but I believe that shadowmanes behaved the same way and were also ignored by bosses. Baryonx definitely do the same thing and are ignored by bosses. This tactic is really difficult to use as a solo player because the boss will just be focused on you the whole time with nobody else to take aggro. It really doesn't work well with the dragon on ASA yet. (Deinonychus and magmasaur were the best way to take on dragon on ASE for a bit because the magmasaur was immune to most of the dragon's attacks. So you just ran away from everything while the deinonychus just bled the dragon out. When Gen 2 comes out, the small tame tactic will work well with dragon again.)
@@Boomsmith Yeah, it's probably a drag weight thing, then. Trikes have a drag weight of 300, while megatheriums have a drag weight of 295 and therizinos have a drag weight of 250.
Actually, it probably isn't drag weight? Therizino and carnotaurus have the exact same drag weights of 250. My best guess is still whether or not it gets aggro from cave dinos.
I recently learn from a guy on the server i play on that bosses have a priority system to who they target. A rex is higher than a yuti. So if you put 1 rex in that fight the bosses will target the rex and leave you alone.
@Boomsmith so I don't the targeting works that way. If you have stegos and a yuty, the boss will target the yuty. Been playing around trying to figure this out
Yeah bosses typically aggro on the largest creature. I beat Alpha Fenrir on Fjordur with Allos, but I brought one rex that was only leveled in hp to draw aggro and tank so he wouldn't target me on the Yuty

Try direbear or carbo for the next boss fight, carbos are good in defense but not very good in damage. Direbears have awesome melee but terrible health.

trikes drag weight is 300, carno is 250, perhaps there is also a priority threshold included in ai targeting that avours creatures other than yuty at 300 or above because the yuty is 500@@Boomsmith
@kmc1499 I'm currently editing the allosaurus video and I changed the order around and made the score card reflect the new order. Thanks for the input!
Bosses will target the larges creature in the arena first yuty is considered large so it will target that before the smaller dinos, on ase I used to use a stego and velos to kill some of the bosses

Wow surprised by amount of mutations.. wanted to choose these as first time breeding project😢

Oooo it really did. I should try to do that more often
This is some really weird behavior, I wonder if we will see this same situation with other creatures moving forward? Awesome video!
I have a feeling we will see this more often than not when using some of these early game tames.
Its how the bosses work the bosses will target the dino with the biggest drag weight
I think there's more to it than that, yuty has more drag weight than the therizino, dire bear, anky, trike, and carno but it has only happened to the carno so far

Gotta use a couple stegos to pull agro and ride the carno.
Makes killing even the dragon a breeze. Can do it with zero mutations and primitive saddles

Honestly with the low damage they have I don't even know if it would make much of a difference unless they were maxed out
