    I bought a winchester sx4 honestly you can get them at midrange price for 2 3/4” & 3” and its one of the highest rated shotguns out there. If u have the money for a franchi affinity just buy a Winchester even if u have to save a bit longer because its just a beautiful gun. And just for reference i have a lot of shotguns ranging from remington 870 to berretta A400 as well as 5 others. Winchester sx4 is still my go too. But thats just my opinion.

    I started with a stevens 320 and honestly wore it out in a few months. That being said i spent the cash on a benelli supernova and never looked back.

    I remember your previous video upon this subject when you first got the Franchi Affinity which is what I and my youngest brother have and LOVE IT!!! Thanks for an updated video on this HUGE topic Bobby. :) The step up in the Franchi line to the 3.5 in shells was the Intensity, but now it is just the Affinity 3 and 3.5 which is confusing. They do have bigger knobs on the bolt and the button for the bolt release in the newer 2017/18 models for both guns. The 3.5 model is $850 for black and $950 for Mossy Oak Bottom Land, and like you said the 3 inch Affinity is below $800. The Stoeger is a great gun too a little heavier than the Franchi but you are in the $500-700 range depending on chamber size and if it is camo. The other semis under $900 that I would recommend would be the Beretta A300 series, Winchester Sx4s, and the new CZ-USA 712 G2 which is a beautiful gun with bronze cerakote metal parts and camo stock/foregrip for the $550 price at Cabela's/Bass Pro.

    Thanks for the video, I’ve watched it several times since you posted it. I have been looking for two months and after handling half a dozen $6-800 semis I finally went with the franchi Affinity 3. Guy handed it to me at the store last night and it just felt right. Thanks and keep up the good work man.

    Yildiz 12 gauge pump $279 at academy shoots 3" magnum shells comes with 5 choke tubes. Had one jam early on because I didn't rack it hard enough. Now I rack it as hard as I can and I don't have problems. Good gun

    Stoeger M3000 is a pretty cheap but reliable semi, AS LONG AS YOU BREAK IT IN WITH AROUND 100-200 BUCKSHOT/SLUGS FIRST…. It WILL NOT cycle light 2 3/4 loads reliably until it is broken in, im tired of ppl shit talking the gun bc they don’t properly follow the manual’s instructions quite like myself lol

    I bought a used Remington 870 Wingmaster (that was manufactured in 1974) from my buddy for about $200. The extractor had been replaced but all other parts are original. Nothing fancy about it at all, I just keep it squeaky clean. My buddies joke around with me for having a 44 year old gun, I limit out just like them, and they've all got $1000+ guns. Could I shell out some cash for a "nicer" gun? Probably. But as long as this old one kills ducks, I'm keeping it.

    The Retay Mara Masai 3.5 inch 12 gauge with a 26 inch barrel is a fly first class design with a lower price than the alternatives. A 3 inch model is even more affordable.

    Picked me up a Girsan mc312, a Turkish Benelli m2 replica. It takes 3.5 inch shells and only paid 440 bucks out the door for it. I don't really hunt much, maybe will go out once or twice per year. I hope it should serve me good.

    Browning BPS 12Ga Chambered 3 1/2". It's been my go to gun for the last 11 years! Left handed also so the bottom ejecting is awesome to have!
    The next shotgun I get will be semi-auto and 3" though, as I only use 3 1/2" for turkey season and early goose season.

    My 2 cents for guys looking for a decent semi auto shotgun: I bought a new Beretta Outlander A300 semi auto shotgun in camo 4 years ago for $799. Its been a great shotgun. Very pleased with it. And light weight too. It shoots 3" or 2 3/4" shells. Now i believe u can find them for $100 less or buy the newer A400.

  • @teekay1785
    @teekay1785 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you want skip the history go to third paragraph. I have always been a winchester shooter except for a few strays. grew up with model 12 16 ga. Then to super x1 then a 101 o/u on days I thought I might need 3 inch. Then along came the steel shot era and the 3 1/2 inch shell. I actually went to using a Remington SP10 for steel shot then when the loads were mainly 1300 to 1350 fps and you really needed large shot to have significant stopping power but man what a heavy gun 12 lbs. That was what actually started me carrying 2 guns one for close or fast birds like teal and the 10 for longer range bigger waterfowl but thats another story and generally the larger the gauge the better the pattern.
    I got a benelli SBE 1 and I just don't like the "hump" on the SBE or the rem 11 or the A5 browning. I can shoot them but they just don't feel as natural to me but they were good guns just not for me.. I do love the Benelli M1 12 and 20 gage. The Remington 870 and 1100 and later 11-87 did ok too but I wanted automatic for waterfowl because of the brush etc getting in the way and heavy bulky clothes (still shoot the model 12 at doves a lot. Like brownings except the ones with non rounded receivers but to me just a more expensive winchester and now they are Like the barrettes just aldont need another gun. The moss bergs to me were not the quality and similar to the remington's but if economics ruled great though I actually had 2 different people have their moss bergs have major malfunction in a my duck blind , one had the weld between barrel and the ring that fits over magazine tube come apart! One day I looked up and I had about 25 shotguns most of which I never used and many inherited and many special purpose ones ( for instance a winchester 101 O/U skeet and skeet). I decided to sell most and give some to children etc.
    I kept my grandfathers model 12 16gauge one super x1 and the 3 I actually hunt with a superx3 26 inch a superx2 28 inch and a super 3 turkey special which was a splurge. If I had to choose one it would be a super x 3 26 inch but the superx2 in 26 inch would be a close 2nd largely the x3 won out because its lighter for all around and still handles 3 1/2 inch shells. You can buy a good used 3 inch auto for around 5 to 600 dollars . Would much rather have a used better quality gun than a new so so gun. I didn't mean to leave out the Stoegger and Franchi both good goods bu mainly a less expensive version of benelli etc. One thing I would say don't by a used gun from trap or skeet shooter if you are not going to dismantle and inspect them likely they are worn to an advanced degree. I would at least do a field takedown and inspect the innards on any used gun. I strongly suggest find one you like trying other peoples etc, buy it and plan to keep it essentially forever. I shoot at ;east 3 cases of 3 and 3 1/2 inch shells every year and have used the x 3 since it first came out and the x2 way longer and have only replaced a few springs a recoil sleeve piece on magazine that was free from winchester and now they use the improved version. Don't worry about manufacturer gimmicks like faster operation etc. Unless you are an exhibition shooter it won't ever matter.
    Best tips: Spend time getting your shotgun to fit you and point naturally without "aiming". Practice some shooting with heavy clothes if you hunt in cold weather. For beginners shoot the hnd thrown clays skeet trap etc whatever it takes to get comfortable with the gun and study principles of lead whatever style you feel comfortable with. Don't go out and shoot a lot of skeet etc before a dove hunt clay birds don't act like the real thing maybe a round or 2 just to brush up if needed though I have never seen the need. and the best tip of all that Bobby does extremely well at HAVE FUN SAFELY.

I do own 3 Remington shotguns, but they’re from the late 70’s early 80’s 870, and wingmaster and they’re fantastic. I’ve always been a mossberg guy tho. Now I’m a Stoeger Mossberg guy. I’ve never had them fail, and I hunt, and shoot them a ton. Great video as always brother.

    No love for all the Winchester shooters?! Come on Bobby! The SX3 and SX4 are great budget shotguns. For 800-900 dollars you get a well handling, reliable, and fastest shotgun on the market.

    I currently have a Winchester SX4 3 inch and I'm considering upgrading to a 3.5 Retay. I've always like the Benelli SBE3. That being said should I stop at the RETAY or continue to save and make the SBE3 happen? My son shoots a Benelli Montefeltro 20 guage and I have a buddy who has let us borrow his Benelli Super Sport so we do like inertia guns. Thank you for your input! Keep it up Bobby and Fred

    Also don’t let your shotgun break. If it breaks... FIX IT! Made that mistake. My Ithaca m37 broke and I was stupid and let it sit and it caused way more damage and rust if I had just fixed it fast it would look way nicer

      I bought one a year ago for ducks and geese. Im very satisfied with the gun black composite with a 28 inch barrel. Abit higher price for them here in Norway around 1400 US Dollars here the SX3 abit more expensiv maybe around 1600 US Dollars.

    First off, I love it that you can walk around the outside of your home with an uncased shotgun and not have the cops come. Second, all of what I'm about to say is IMHO, the 3.5 mag shells are amazing and I love bringing out those bad boys. You can get a used Browning Gold Hunter 3.5 gun for less than $600. There is no such thing as too much goose hunting shotgun, yes the ammo is expensive, but what's a few more bucks. 3rd why are your shotguns wearing out? What parts are failing? Aside from some springs that may need replacing, I don't think any of the guns you listed have weak parts that cause the gun to break? 3rd, you can get a new auto for $425 like the Mossberg 930, that is the largest US mfr flag ship model. And the 930 is built like a tank. It's over built if anything, weighing in at 7.10 lbs.

    What would be a good price for one of these used? I have been searching around online and doing research on a few different semi autos such as this Franchi Affinity, Stoeger M3500 or M3000, and the Beretta A300. I found a used Stoeger M3500 used for 400 but it was a little beat up. I am just now getting into shooting at age 20, and want a nice semiauto. I do have a Mossberg 500 20 gauge I am learning on as well as a new maverick 88 12 gauge my dad won and an old wingmaster as well.

  • @Scalia-ig6qz
    @Scalia-ig6qz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    No way for me in 3". If I had to stay under $700 I would go with a Beretta A300 semi auto gas! I even sometimes use my A300 if I know I might not have time to clean my A400s. Throw it in a vehicle without a protective case....quicky hunt!
    It breaks.....you mail it in...FIXED USUALLY AT NO COST! That means the extra $100 or $150 depending on the model....gives you a lifetime gun!!
    QUALITY VS QUANTITY......I LEARNED SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!
