Great video. I'm an Everton fan, and from the outside, I was baffled by O'Neil's sacking. But this excellent video puts that into full perspective. In fact, this kind of decisiveness, ruthlessness and an actual vision is what most Everton fans are crying out for at Goodison Park at the moment.

I'm an Everton fan and I'm puzzled by your comment. Our problem has been precisely that we've believed we're better than we are and deserve to jump to the next level, with no thought on stability.

@TheInsideVideo You have completely misinterpreted what I've said. I thought it was pretty clear. Everton have lacked a plan and direction for at least a decade. This move with the full context shows that Bournemouth are moving in that direction, this is along with thier recent transfer dealings. Everton is a circus, with no club wide philosophy or culture due to the scatter gun approach to the transfer market and managerial appointments. Getting that parasite Bill Kenwright out will be a huge step in the right direction.

We want to place on record our thanks for Gary and his work at AFC Bournemouth. On the surface, the departure might look harsh, but dig a little bit deeper, and it’s clear that the club is looking to subscribe to a vision for which Iraola is the perfect leader. O’Neil’s stoicism throughout his time at AFC Bournemouth is something to be admired, and his time at Dean Court hopefully stands him in excellent stead to go on and achieve great things in management. All the best Gaz, and welcome Andoni ❤

    Well played Sam as always.
Delighted with the choice of Iraola, and spent a few hours watching Rayo games last season, and I have to say, if Andoni can produce anything like last season against the big boys, but apart from the results against Barca and Real, the result that really caught my eye was against Valencia and Cadiz, really assured attacking football.
A couple of players really caught my eye, Isi the right winger scored a useful 9 goals, and I like Lejurne the midfielder. but, and I really like this, he set up his team for contributions across the pitch, so those looking for an out and out number 9 are going to be disappointed.
What should please the faithful, he is all about wing play and getting balls into the box, something we haven't seen in a while, so fans of Eddie will be pleased with that, as he played under Valverde, while the pressing is all Bielsa.
Potentially he could be the real deal!

Cracking video, full of passion and well put together. So as a Newcastle fan the first thing i thought when i heard it on he radio was that they'd be plenty of Bournemouth fans happy at that decision. That night i got home and saw all the outsiders having a go at your club for the sacking. I'm a huge believer that a lot of youtubers, pundits and ex footballers are so out of their depth when it comes to football knowledge, often too scared to say anything against their mates and copying other so called experts without thinking for themselves. I don't want you to go down. You're my next favourite club in the top flight. Up the cherries!

Well said. I agree with everything you’ve said and as a fan it has hurt to see the club being condemned for a decision that made such clear sense. Especially to those of us who watch every week and saw the dithering and downright poor tactics. Big second point you touch on. We upgraded the manager, we must now upgrade the stadium. It is holding us back in terms of our image, we don’t look like a serious team because our stadium is straight out of the lower leagues. So please Bill let’s match the good work going on, on the pitch with the stands that surround it - asap.

IMO it is a Win/Win Situation. GON heads off into the sun with a large wedge of dosh and much improved reputation/CV, rather than hang around and be sacked by Christmas. We get a far better manager with an actual defined style, that we can structure our transfers.
GON did not have a defined style but I would not expect one after less than 1 season as Manager. In the Championship, he will have time over the coming couple of seasons to develop a style but we and more specifically Foley who is 79 this December (29th) does not have the patience to settle for mediocre
Bill will ultimately get his wallet out again over the Summer Transfer window and wants to provide a platform for a Manager he believes in, such as Iraola
It is so refreshing that we are showing real ambition and belief. We all know about the history of our beloved club, when we were collecting money in buckets, -17, heading out of business etc... but Bill and most of the fans now want more than that. The new Training Ground which is due to be finished Summer 2024, New Ground, activity in the transfer window shows that we are a different club now. It annoyed me when we lost in the Play off against Brentford in the 2020/21 season that we should be greatful for still being in the Championship
Bill, Jim and Co have injected a new vision into the club and those Directors within the old way, need to prove their worth or they may be out of the door too
Future is Bright, future is Red n Black. UTC

The exact same comments were laid at the feet of Brighton owner Tony Bloom when they sacked Chris Hughton after escaping relegation for the 2nd season on the trot, that clubs 'like Brighton' should be just happy to be in the EPL. The owner wanted to push on and play a different style of football; in came Potter. Only Bournemouth didn't get the added 'racist club' comments. Even after Potter got poached and Brighton bought in De Zerbi, still got comments from the dinosaurs like Souness about how an unknown to the EPL foreign coach would struggle and be out of his depth...turned out quite well as it happens...

Spot on mate. I know how Seagulls felt after the panning they got from pundit land. I lived near Brighton and worked with plenty of Brighton fans, many are my mates. I've also met Tony Bloom, back in the days of the Seagulls Party, Norman Baker's frivolous court case (who funny enough was mates with David Bellotti), and the absolute vandalism that took place. Funny I didn't see Carra, Neville, Keane, and the rest of shit punditry riding to the rescue.
Nor do I see them at Southend, Gillingham, Oldham and many other clubs who are struggling
So I full understand what its like to build a one city club. I love beating you guys, but we have much to learn as well.

Literally insane reactions from some media pundits and journalists (none of whom will have watched the turgid negative football we had to endure for much of last season). I get some are looking for clicks etc but many should know better.
Here's the big baffling double standard - team goes out in the summer and signs a new player who has just become available as they think he is an upgrade on the current squad they already have - media and pundits applaud the move.
Why then if a club sees the same opportunity to upgrade it's coaching team when a long sought after coach becomes available is it "ludicrous", "disgusting" etc ?
Surely the same principle should apply ?

Hockey fan here: Bill Foley is like this with Vegas Golden Knights. Including their current coach, Bruce Cassidy, the Golden Knights have had 3 coaches in their 6 year existence. What’s being said about Gary O’Neil was said about Gerard Gallant, the Knights 1st coach. Gallant took the Knights to the Stanley Cup finals. Gallant would be fired in less than 2 year after taking them after Finals after the Knights went on a 4 game losing streak. This perplexed a lot in the hockey world, because the Knights were still in playoff position and Gallant is a well liked and respected figure. They would go through another coach, Pete DeBoer, and then hire Bruce Cassidy, who led them to the Stanley Cup. This is how Foley runs things, he’s never content and always seeking to make the best move. Yes, the NHL is a different animal from the Premiere League, but there’s a method to Foley’s madness.

The fact is, that most of the so called experts that were disgusted by the decision to releive Gary of his duties, are just trying to mask thier own poor prediction for us in the league. Their prediction made Gary seem like a miracle worker, but actually it was just as much the players, they should take credit for keeping us up just as much. Gary did instill belief into the players and seemed to keep the dressing room together, so you have to give him thanks for that.

Wolves supporter here. This is what we heard from Cherries fans when he was parachuted in at the last minute when Lopetegui had fallen out with our owners and chucked the towel in with a week to go to the season start. Fair to say on the whole Wolves fans (ok so X/Twitter ‘fans’ mostly) hated the idea of replacing an elite Manager with a ‘PE Teacher’. Many said he’d be gone by October. But here we are in November and but for some horrendous VAR decisions we’d be top 10 and we have deservedly beaten the best side in Europe (the World?) and the PE Teacher has turned round pretty much the entire Wolves fanbase. I guess time will tell but right now you won’t find many Wolves fans who would take Lopetegui back over GON and crucially the players seem to be responding well to his approach.

Absolutely agree with everything. When we stayed up, the guys who'd thought we'd be rock bottom, single-figures thought 'Gary O'Neil is a genius' rather than accept that they might have been wrong about the players and club.
    Love proving them wrong though!

It is not surprising that there are mixed views and emotions about Bournemouth and this decision. On, the one hand, it shows ambition(if Brentford can do it, then why can't we?" and no fan wants to accept the harsh reality that the chances of their team are limited, especially in this day and age but with an 11,000 stadium and no great tradition, in a quiet location and, relatively, limited resources, it IS a real mountain to climb. I enter my 8th decade next season and since 1962, when I first attended,I have waited for my team to progress ib a 20,000 stadium and they have had 2 high profile years in all that time, in fact since 1885,,,

Their squad isn't anywhere near what it was last season. They were 9/4 favorites to go down the day before the season started with more players. 0 wins
    -13 goal difference
A pure novice manager could have got the same results.
Bournemouth close to 25% of the matches played, look like not winning a match, at this stage.
You better hope that a lot of these players, stay in the Championship. Or it might be a double drop

Where I stand on it is this I absolutely love the ambition however I still do think there is a lack of awareness from Bournemouth’s owners about what Bournemouth are at this current moment to donthat. You can’t come up from the Championship expecting to get European spots straight away. The man is ambitious absolutely but sometimes ambition can lead to hasty and wreckless decisions that actually result in being in a worse spot. Sometimes its good to take it slow O Neill is a novice and also Iraola is absolutely no guarantee. This can absolutely flop and if it does I’ll be honest it will be pretty deserved in my humble opinion. I’m not having a dig but is Iraola much more of a guarantee than O neill? I don’t think so I do think this has every chance of flopping than Gary O Neill staying and doing a job you just don’t know. This isn’t Guardiola that you’ve sacked O Neill. Iraola is still an unknown quantity at this level he’s done exceptionally well with Rayo however that may not translate right away to the Prem. At least with O Neill he’s built some foundations and can build on it.
Also if Iraola does well you absolutely cannot have any right to complain if he leaves mid season for example like Potter did because if you agree with managers getting sacked after they did an incredible job then you can’t complain if Iraola jumps ship. Also, you’re actually creating a culture where managers will just want to jump ship if the big boys come in because managers now know AFC Bournemouth has zero loyalty and will sack them even if they do the job role so they’ll just say “Well can’t stay at Bournemouth too long as they’ll probably still sack me even if I do well so I’ll jump ship now” this actually creates a bit of a disloyal culture and will cause managers to also be willing to jump ship imo
