Warwick WPS Star Bass 5 sound demo

This is a 2011 handcrafted in Korea Pro Series (WPS) Warwick Star Bass I recently grabbed (an absolute bargain, less than used chinese RockBass price, like new, not a single little scratch or wear). The sounds you're hearing are:
CLEAN FINGERSTYLE: both pickups - neck pickup - bridge pickup
PICK+OD: both pickups - neck pickup
Sadly this bass is long discontinued. Only thing you can get nowadays, besides de German Star Bass, are the current chinese RockBass version. Guess these SUPERB basses were hurting their German sales.
Recorded thru a Zoom B1X Four (clean and drive SansAmp+160 comp patches) into a Zoom R24 recorder.
IMPORTANT: STRAP PIN RELOCATION TO HORN
I already did the mod, bass was simply a pain to play for me strapped with the neck side strap pin at the neck joint (bass faces down). I moved it to he upper horn. It not only faces front now when hanging (notorious) but it also improved balance (originally at the edge of neck dive, quite better now). I've heard every Star Bass player complain about this (also many Epi J/Cassady users, Gibson 335 users, etc.). I think this is the easiest way and some of the strongest (basically drill a small hole for the pin -where the screw will engage, not spin loose-, then put it horns pointing down, inject epoxy, install pin and leave it upside down until it cures). ALSO: VVTT to VVT + cap selector MOD
I did a minimal rewiring of electronics so that instead of having the (useless IME) VVTT control layout it's like a Jazz Bass (VVT, plus the pickup selector switch) and added a 5 position rotary switch to select cap value for the tone control. Also detailed in this TalkBass post... www.talkbass.c...
