In-store is dying but physical media itself is flowing like crazy but unfortunately it's mostly online buying now.

Is not going anywhere where im at but i know that target and best buy are done with physical media in 2024 im sad about it but it make sense it is low buying from shelves and it take space for other things it make sense for target and best buy to do it as far as physical media dvds and blu rays are still going strong there places like used bookstores, pawn shops, flea markets, family dollar, dollar tree, dollar general, habitat used stores, goodwill, thrift stores and to get the new physical media you got barns and nobles and Wal-Mart where im at physical media of dvds blu rays and 4ks are still going strong there's places to go to get entertainment we don't have to go to best buy or target you got to go other places even if you don't want to leave the house you can shop online for dvds blu rays and 4ks as well physical media is definitely going to be here forever because if the streaming internet shuts down in the future i will have backup for physical media if you got a dvd player blu ray player in your home

DVDs, BluRays and 4Ks still exist, and are still a multi billion industry.
It's not dead, just not mainstream anymore... but still VERY relevant and not going anywhere.
Collectors will always want tangible things and ownership.
Digital is purely a rental with an indefinite end date.

Very well said and you are totally right, as we do not own the rights to the movies themselves but a license to watch them.

It sure is dying though since digital media is getting more popular and bigger than physical media and even for gaming is sure is dying also too.
Since I even know stores in Canada stop selling physical video games all thanks to it aka real Canadian superstore and toys r us that are the two stores
I remember those times they used to sell physical video games but not anymore all thanks to digital media which I can see on how it sure hurts those stores.
When people buy digital games instead of physical games which makes those stores don't see any reasons to keep selling them when too many people
Prefer buying those games digitally and even physical media for pc is very dead which I honestly can see how pc gaming is the first one to go full digital.
Since pc gaming now is all gaming launchers that is steam and the epic games store even though no one even bothers to use the epic games store though lol
Which I do find physical media to be cool, during it's golden years even when updates weren't really a thing but I can honestly see physical media death sure will
Happened for good with gaming being all digital.

Very well said. I couldn’t agree with you more. Growing up the Xbox 360 was probably the golden age for me as far as physical games goes. I remember going to GameStop, Walmart, Target and Best Buy to snag new releases. I’ll never forget when I bought GTA San Andreas on launch day for PS2 at target. That is one of my fondest gaming memories.

Really bummed about physical media not being available anymore. Do you think they will still make some physical discs? Thank you for making these videos

I think it will always be around in our lifetime, probably just won’t see it in big box stores as much unfortunately. We will just have to see what the future holds.

Physical media is still the top seller. Actually, regular DVDs are the leading physical movie sales. I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon. I don’t like digital stuff, so I’ll continue to support both physical media and regular DVDs. Companies can take away digital any time they want like all the discovery purchases that got revoked from PlayStation users. I actually had that happen with a digital code I redeemed. So digital is not at all a reliable format imo

Why would I want to license something? When I could just outright on it own it forever

Nice little video with great narration, but what a nightmare for us. I will personally always go the phyiscal media way cause i love it plus i love actually owning my movies and shows without having to worry about censorship and services deleting the movies and shows. Plus with physical discs you only pay ONCE and its yours forever. With streaming the movies and shows are never yours and you have to keep paying every month to be able to excess your library. Honestly i dont see one good reason to go streaming, my opinion: it sucks. Physical forever!!!

Thank you! Not my usual content, felt like trying something different. You are totally right especially about the censorship. Once a movie is on your shelf no one can take it from you and censor it. Hope all is well my friend!

I know, but it is up to us collectors to keep consuming physical media. As long as there is a significant demand they will have to keep producing physical media
