They were supposed to play Vredenburg (in Utrecht as well) which has a capacity of 2000 people but when they tickets sold slowly, it was just after the release of Centipede Hz which met with divided reaction of fans, they did the show in a smaller venue.
They improvise a lot of the transitions in between songs and for the actual songs they have rehearsed there is a little bit of improv but they have an overall plan.
i love this band more than any other from the past 10 years...and while their live shows have gotten a lot better than they used to be....they still ought to turn it up volume wise. most AC shows are oddly quiet. It makes the sparse arrangements sound too sparse. live shows ought to be loud. :) still...great show right here.
Thanks for the upload! The sound at Tivoli isn't always tuned perfectly (and it depends on where you stand, as well) so it's really nice to get a second opinion on what *exactly* I heard that night :-)
On Rosie Oh its cool to hear him sing "As I left my HOME I cried.." As opposed to him saying "As I Left my OM I cried.." As he does on the record 😎🤙 PS centipede hz is WAYYYYY underrated
They have said numerous times in interviews that they are most heavily inspired by band like the Grateful Dead and Pavement. Like those bands they rely heavily on improvisation, something that only works in a concert setting. Their music generally deviates from their studio content pretty heavily depending on the concert. I'd say their more of a tour oriented jam band than a studio band that goes on tour on the side. Not quite to the extent of The Dead, but similar. You don't know shit.
I just saw them live and I couldn't disagree more. Also, they've talked about how much they're enjoying this tour in numerous interviews. The physical nature of the new material is allowing them to feel very together as a band. Not only are you making a bold and overly-personal statement about the band without even having been to a show, but when your very poorly supported opinion is shown even the slightest bit of dissent, you resort to name calling. Go to a show and fix your fucking attitude.
So then why do they keep playing shows? Checkmate, you mad I can afford the finer things in life and you cant? Hey I can make horrendous assumptions too!
The more I listen to Animal Collective, the more I love them.
I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS VERSION OF BROTHER SPORT IS
+danielkeeffe TRUTH
the pitchfork brothersport was garbage but this one is nice!
One of my favorite AC performances.
i can listen to this live show in an infinite loop.

Crazy to think I was split on Chz at first too but now it’s an essential ac album
this Lion in a Coma performance is inspiring holy shit thank you Based Deak
did people say "based" 8 years ago? Wtf
most insane brothersport ive heard yet!
AMAZING. Love the live version of Honeycomb.
if there's a show to trip at animal collective certainly is that show haha
best live band ever .. yes ever

WOW, great concert... i prefer this live version over the album release
Everyone's vocals are surprisingly clear and loud here

I'm p sure that they dont improvise most of their material, they said in an interview that they take a lot of time to rehearse everything they do live
I love how Geologist is always jamming the fuck out

Thanks man.
deakin is always smiling!
I love this!
He shouts like a Fox (Avey T)
I wish they would play more stuff from the water curses ep
I can never find water curses live. It's very dissapointing
Caesar Bevill 5 years later, but, if you haven't, listen to 2016 and 2017 shows for a water curses at about the same slower tempo as this cobwebs
@@samanthayork3125 omg, water curses 2016 is incredible
hilarious comment thread - checkmate and horrendous assumptions got me lol
Amazing video. Small venue for a band like them, though.
just needed to find a way to put that watery/reverb effect on the vocals.... just not the same without. Still a nice show
lol the video didn't pick up aveys vocal effects for some reason
it disappoints me that the intro to moonjock was a sample. panda bear does pretty much nothing till like a minute into the song
cobwebs...
Do they like to play live? 1:18:11 The deak has spoken.
00:50:24 "GEOLOGIST!!!"

deakin smiling during peacebone :)
Having seen them last year in Vancouver at the start of this tour, I cannot begin to quantify how wrong you are
Just let it be.
Does anyone else get "Boys Latin" vibes at 10:30 to 11?

New Town Burnout 💀 😩 🙏

Weird as fuck...
I've seen them live (and I love them) and it was the biggest disappointment in terms of concerts of my life.
So then why do they keep playing shows? Checkmate, you mad I can afford the finer things in life and you cant? Hey I can make horrendous assumptions too!
