Excellent job, Youthman! Thanks for taking the time to put this all together. It's a shame I couldn't make it to the event. Stu was the first man to offer me a job in the industry. It's great to see him hanging around! Great folks behind what I'm sure will be a great array of products!
Thanks Sean. Stu and the entire Polk staff were amazing. Truly a “family” of passionate audiophiles. I wanted the video to be a tribute as well to his legacy with the company.
Two years ago I sold my 30 year old SDA CRS + that I bought in 1986. They were great for music but didn't work so well for home theater. That interconnect cable running between both speakers made for an enormous soundstage. Cant believe these are back.
Really enjoyed that video, Youthman! Being a big Polk guy (whole house), I love getting to know the people behind the product. Thanks for the great video and interview. I especially like the explanation of the Hershey Kiss port design.
I currently own my fourth pair of Polk SDA's since 1987. I am SO happy that Polk found a way to bring them back. There is not sound quite like the sound that the SDA's produce. It's not for everyone, but once you hear it, YOU KNOW if it's for you and you immediately become hooked!
This was an excellent video Michael. What a great opportunity! I really liked the sit down you had with Stu, that was very informative. Excited to see how these perform. Interesting concept, SDA... Never heard of the older models until now either.
Last winter (2018) I bought a pair of Polk TSi200 bookshelf speakers for my apartment living room. The sound is amazing. For less than $200 a pair I consider these some of the best buys of my lifetime. I'm 67.
I am excited at the fact that these speakers are coming. I myself have 7 sets of Sda’s. From the smallest CRS+ to the big boy SRS. I can’t wait to hear them.

Youthman up here in Baltimore very nice. My first adventure into home theater started with Polk Audio speakers back in the early 90's. I sold those and just never liked later offerings from them but I am glad to see they are coming back with some interesting speakers . I need to hear them .
Polkies have been lobbying for new Polk SDAs for years, and now, here we are! Great news. I still have some SDA 2As in a closet along with the Monitor series which I still use; 5A, 7C, and 10As. Let me tell you, get an old Kenwood KA-7300 integrated or higher and some Monitor 7s and just sit back and relax-the synergy is off the charts. Good times! Old SDAs need a lot of wall space to do their thing, I just don't have that at the moment. Wonder if that's been addressed in the new line. The old rule of thumb is at least 14' of uninterrupted wall, continuous.
I had a pair of the original SDA speakers many years ago and have yet to find a speaker that i like better. The balance between highs , mid range and bass was unbeatable to my ears. I especially like the bass . It was clear clean and super fast . No muddied vibration . Each new note was distinguishable from the last with no carry over. I have never been a fan of monster sub woofers as i find the tactile experience to be a distraction form the over all balance of sound. The original SDA’s had a perfect balance for MY taste.
I was hoping to see the legendary Matthew Polk here, wearing his iconic white lab coat! That said, I bought my very first pair of truly 'high end' audiophile speakers way back in the 80's, mainly the Monitor 10's, and they gave me untold joy listening to my favorite music! I've never considered the Polk line of speakers for home use, but the L800 has me really excited. The "in-line" seating arrangement at RMAF is throwing alarms for me. It appears to be a speaker for an audience of 1, which is strange because they're cross marketing to the home theater crowd with the optional height (drop-in drivers). Are the surround speakers supposed to make up for the extremely narrow sweet spot? I hope the seating arrangement just turns out to be a poor decision for that show. It's like telling buyers the speaker performs great...if you stand on one leg....and hold this coconut...and wear this special hat. Imaging is great and all, but what if you want to share it with a friend?
I had this set up for about ten years. A whole bunch of amps and other stuff. Ive missed these speakers ever since I sold them back around 2007. I live in Nor Cal and the guy that bought all 6 of these lived in Florida....lol....You should have seen the local UPS store when I rolled in with these speakers and asked to ship them....I think it took them 4 days to build the crates for shipping.....This picture I found a few years ago online, apparently someone thought it was cool and loaded it into google images....www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/polk-audio-sda-sda-srs-sda-srs-2tl-127682855 Anyways Youthman, I went with the 7706 and XPA 11 with a 7.2.4 klipsch in walls. Still havent decided on subs but everything else is ordered.....Thanks for all the help along the way
Interesting on the port noise. I'm curious why speakers like the Adam A7x's, and SVS subs (love my SVS PB 1000's = cheap thrills), both very well renowned do not run that type of port system? What about venturi style flared ports? It's nice to see Polk get back in the serious audio game, I honestly didn't' take them seriously because of a lot of the cheaper/subpar material they put out over past years.
Whatever happened to Matthew Polk ? I saw a lot of his pictures 30 years ago when I decided to learn everything I could about Polk. Is he still with us, did he sell out his part of the company and move on? Any answer at all will help.
The Mid - Range & High Frequency "module" of the 'L800', and It's Shape reminds me of the Allison " I " Towers. As it appears to duplicate the Angle of the "Allison" Isosceles Triangle ; Can't be just a be coincidence … That's Not throwing Shade. It's just shows that; "Great Minds, Think Alike." !
Yeah right! Last time I fell for that 50% off bs I ended up getting molested behind a abandoned wal mart and woke up naked 3 days later and I ain't been right in the head since! Wait what where we talking about?

Imaging is great and all, but what if you want to share it with a friend?
Understanding that most homes will not have a vertical row of seats, how do these sound one seat to the right and left of the sweet spot?
No but every home does have a single sweet spot. The rows were to allow for multiple people to experience it at the same time.
glad to see something other than klipsch and svs even though thats what i own
Me too. I am trying to offer diversity
I've had a few car audio products of theirs. They have always made nice stuff.
I had this set up for about ten years. A whole bunch of amps and other stuff. Ive missed these speakers ever since I sold them back around 2007. I live in Nor Cal and the guy that bought all 6 of these lived in Florida....lol....You should have seen the local UPS store when I rolled in with these speakers and asked to ship them....I think it took them 4 days to build the crates for shipping.....This picture I found a few years ago online, apparently someone thought it was cool and loaded it into google images....www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/polk-audio-sda-sda-srs-sda-srs-2tl-127682855
Anyways Youthman, I went with the 7706 and XPA 11 with a 7.2.4 klipsch in walls. Still havent decided on subs but everything else is ordered.....Thanks for all the help along the way
If your interested in cone structure check out the Audioholics video "Do exotic driver materials..." around 39 : 30 particularly.
Love Polk..looks lovely 😍..I love my Rtia7 and Rtia9😍
Polk was my first home theater system many years ago. 😀
@@Youthman ohh great..iam using A9's with SVS SB4000 and it sounds Amazing..thanks buddy for the lovely content as always 😍
Not sure.
Looking to ditch my lsim 705s how much are the big boys 🙃
Gregory Digital Audiophile it has a price list at end of the video. They’re $3000 each
@@bosburn1 ty I ended it short
So you are the one that is killing my audience retention 🤣🤣🤣
@@Youthman maybe no lol jumped off to go to Polk website I'm kind of locked in on focal Electra 1038 be butt thinking legend now 🤗
Whatever happened to Matthew Polk ? I saw a lot of his pictures 30 years ago when I decided to learn everything I could about Polk. Is he still with us, did he sell out his part of the company and move on? Any answer at all will help.
So, this new series is replacing the LsiM speakers?
Correct. That is why the LSiM are 50% off on their website
that's a big crossover.
It’s for both speakers
I am your great fan bro.. Love ur configs.... Love from india😍🙌
Thank you!
I just picked up a pair of sda 1a speakers at a yard sale for 20 bucks
Waaw, how much would this cost. An approximate cost
$6000 pair
@@Youthman thank you. When compared to Dynaudio and their prices are ridiculous, no doubt they are good speaker.
Now next up is. RTA
Wow that's all I can say they look nice very aggressive like the rf7 are those 10 inch subwoofers on the flagship model
Lots of clean output from the dual 10’s. Their port is super clean too
@@Youthman Hi Youthman. How is the L800 bass compared to the Klipsch Rf7 iii ? Which amplifier would you recommend for driving these L800 towers?
hey!... you were only 15 minutes away.... wouldve loved buying you lunch.
I would have enjoyed that but it was a quick fly in one evening, spend all day at the facility and fly out that night
@@Youthman , boooo. your loss.... MD is known as The Land of Pleasant Living.
did you at least get a crab cake?
Looks like they have it going on.
Kpaceguy would love these.
But is the crosstalk cancellation recursive? Like how it's used in ambiophonics? R.A.C.E
wd love a sound demo clip...
This video was shot two months ago. I do not have any sound demos from it. If I get a pair in for review I can record some using copyright free music
RoaroftheTiger great computer software. Imagine what AI will come up with :)
It's way more expensive but eventually they will give 50% off. I will buy when they throw some deal. Thanks for this video.
Yeah right! Last time I fell for that 50% off bs I ended up getting molested behind a abandoned wal mart and woke up naked 3 days later and I ain't been right in the head since!
Wait what where we talking about?
Edward Sanchez I am so sorry to hear that.
@@thesagarmatha that was just a joke :)
Edward Sanchez I know 😆
Seriously doubt it! Not going to happen. This is a specialty speaker, not like the LSiM 707.
Did that engineer just say “by solving a million simple equations?” Doesn’t sound simple at all. 4:25
It's simple for a good computer.
Juan. Lega I definitely agree!
Im just amazed that Youthman willingly went to Baltimore. Who in their right mind would do that.
What's wrong with Baltimore?
@@josephjroy6593 What isnt wrong with Baltimore. Democrats to psychopath leftists and all the hate and violence that comes with the mental disorders that is required to be a leftist. The land of the offended.
I can assure you we have that in every state. All I know is I spent two days with some incredible people at Polk.
TELL ME THOSE ARE 10" WOOFERS PLEASE!!!!
They are indeed! www.polkaudio.com/collections/polk-legend
@@Youthman DID YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO LISTEN TO THEM?
HOW WOULD YOU COMPARE THEM WITH THE KLIPSCH RF7? I AM ASKING BECAUSE BOTH SPEAKER HAVE DUAL 10" WOOFERS.
I believe Sandy Gross is also using this technology at Goldenear with their sound bar for surround.
Yes!
