I have the Bruynzeel and the Conte and like them both but for different reasons. Since they are soft they work especially well on top of other harder pastels like FC Pitt Pencils and many of my medium hard sticks. Conte has gorgeous saturation- I don't just do wildlife, but landscapes and as well as still life, and even coloring pages. I enjoy painting projects that have bright and shiney elements ans Conte is perfect for it. Bruynzeel is the only pencil that I have had sucess using on Velour and that is important when trying to get detail on the fur.
I have a set of the KOH-I-NOOR ones somewhere lol but since I cant find it, I cant try them 😝. I'm going to have to find them and give them a try. I do like the conte ones tho
Hi Lillie! Where I got them before has had a price increase, however, they are only about a penny more from this shop: craftelier.com/en-gb/deluxe-box-of-48-bruynzeel-pastel-pencils-sakura.html It's a Spanish shop, I've had a few things from them before, they just take a little longer to arrive :) I often find deals on Pastelmat with them!
@@emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820 oh fab! I have seen them before but wasn’t sure as they are an overseas company (with a UK email which threw me). I’ll give them a try. I’ve ordered a few single ones from Pencils4Artists but they are more expensive and a bit slow with despatch despite paying for express delivery so I’m going off them a bit. I’ll definitely try this place.
I've had Conte for over 50 yrs. Haven't had much proble,s however many of the pencils are the pastels of that age. Do you think they were better quality back then. My aunt was a well known artist and I got all her supplies when she passed. So they were problem much older. I have bought better sets but I still use the old Conte quite a bit. Anyone else know about the much older pastels?
Ah that's such a shame! I guess it's because I'm next door to France. That said, they were my least favorite over all, so I don't think you're missing out too much ;)
Great video, Emily! I love your art, too. ❤
Thank you so much Dan!

I hate to say it but looking up the prices of these three brands on Amazon - they all fall into my idea of expensive pencils.

Well, the Conte's here in Oz aren't cheap...$5.95-$6.50 per pencil and the price for the 48 pencil set can range from $239 to $325.
