- Splendide 2100XC Washer Dryer Combo Install in our RV. It's a nice RV Upgrade. The stress is over, the 4" hole in the side of Maggie the RV, for the Dryer vent kit, has been drilled and the Splendide 2100XC Washer/Dryer is installed in our RV. We chose the Splendide 2100XC for our RV because it is the vented model, meaning the exhaust goes outside of the RV. This is going to be a great addition for when we go full time. You won’t be disappointed, we own that one and it works great. No heat buildup from the exhaust. I used the best exhaust duct I could find so the heat exists and doesn’t work thru the hose. You done a great job.

Nice video, we have the same unit only 10 years older and we really enjoy it. A small load every day or two keeps everything nice and clean (maybe a few wrinkles here and there, but clean). In our opion it is a must have for a full time couple. Safe Travels Bob

Excellent job just bought my first rv and will be installing the same one the research i have done keeps coming back to this set up only thing would do diffrent is upgrade the supplied hoses to braided no burst hoses its the plumber in me.

Installed a dryer in our home with a solid steel vent pipe about 8 inches long going straight through the wall. (no long flex hose) That was the best drying dryer we ever had. That is absolutely the best scenario for any dryer.
In a house that would probably work fine. A motorhome is a like a rolling earthquake, I'm not sure how it would hold up.🤔
@@GetGonewithUS It was a real pain to install it that way. I had to maneuver the dryer precisely in place and slide it backwards to line up with the hole and then hang over the the unit to tighten the clamp around the pipe. However the end result was a hurricane of hot air coming out the back of the house. Not having to go down a flex hose and then back up to the hole in the wall really lessens the impedance to air flow. But as you say, in the RV this may not be feasible.
Thx for reminding us that as good as the actor may be, sometimes the director is more important.

A good trick is to put a pilot hole with 3/16 bit in center this way you can go on both sides of wall no mistake that way.

I had that one installed when i bought my 1998 Holiday Rambler Endeavor in 2013, where i treasure it just as much as i do my 2007 Prius today! For whatever reasons after buying several types of tools to remove the lint, and despite watching a few TH-cam videos on how to do it, i could not properly clean the vent of the lint for years, where after 6 years the unit began to stop operating, then lights began to flash, where i figured out it was because of the lint. I just asked my neighbor could he get his wife with long skinny hands and small hands to stick her limb down there to pull it and out, it worked after she pulled out a few hands of lint of the vent!! LOL!
My only issues with it now is that the setting letters on the upper left have 90% come off. }:(o!
I hope you're enjoying this amazing unit like i have all these years now.
We love the Splendide! We have a lint cleaning process that we use once a month., but we will keep the small arms and hands in mind, should we have an issue.. LOL

Thanks Sharon. We we didn't include bringing the combo in because we measured the door and hallway and the combo unit was smaller, so we knew it would fit. The video was already over 17 minutes long, so filming us carrying it in the RV and down the hallway seemed irrelevant.

After drilling the hole, the rest of the job was a piece of cake. LOL Non vented machines take longer to dry and cause condensation from what we heard. That made the decision for us. 😃

You are welcome. We looked into the drip pan, but the company didn't recommend it for RV's. It requires another hole for the drain hose. 😀

Great video! We installed ours over the past few weeks. Definitely would have benefited us to have checked this out first. One question: where do you empty the lint?
Thank you. We heard that the newwer ones were better than the older ones as far as lint goes, but we also found this info... THE NEW UNIT 2100XC
This new 2100XC design improves the dryer section with a larger drum, computer controlled tumble for self-balancing, and better air flow. We found it to be much superior to the old design.
In addition, they eliminated the lint screen with a design feature that catches the lint in water and flushes it down the drain. Nice idea, but not quite perfect in results.
THE PROBLEM
With use the lint eventually sticks inside and restricts, then plugs the air outlet, making the dryer useless.
THE FIX
Splendide has developed a work-around fix attached to this post. They suggest running the machine through a flush procedure periodically to prevent this issue. Mine was so bad I had to go through both levels, but it works. The object is to run it through the flush procedure before it gets really bad so you don't have to pull it out to fix it with the second procedure.
PROCEDURE FOR CLEARING LINT FROM MACHINE’S INTERIOR DUCT
1.Run the unit without clothes and with the dry time off on cycle # 11.
2.When the water stops entering the unit push and hold the start button until all the lights come on then release the button.
3.Next, move the cycle knob to cycle # 2 and press the start button once (do not hold).
4.Let it run through that complete cycle.
5.Do this twice.
If in frequent use, do this once each month to avoid buildup.
If the above treatment fails, try it again, adding a cup of white vinegar to break down the deposited soap and fabric softener.
FALL BACK PROCEDURE IF THE ABOVE PROCEDURE FAILS
1.Pull the unit out and remove flexible exhaust duct.
2.Pick out as much lint as you can from the air outlet on the back of the dryer.
3.Put a garden hose in the outlet and blow the blockage into the washer.
4.Run the washer on a short cycle. The blockage breaks up and goes out the drain.

Thanks for your comment Dennis. :) When we did our research, the 2100XC was the only washer/dryer combo we could find that was vented. Non vented takes longer to dry and we were concern about a condensation build up in the RV. We read a lot of complaints about that. We are happy with our choice and would do it again.
I agree, venting is SO important for efficiency. If there is ONLY ONE, you know you got the right one. I just read its ad. It is built tough for marine and RV use. Please share you opinion in a year or so.

Did guys happen to get the pan with yours that catch’s water. I think it’s call the drain catcher/damn thing ?
No. We talked to the company and they told us we really didn't need it. So far they have been right! 🙂🤔
How deep is the cabinet it was installed in? I'm looking to buy this unit to install in my houseboat where my dishwasher currently is. I'm worried about vent making the unit stick out too far.
The cabinet is 25 1/2" deep.
What size screws did you use on the outside black vent door and red cover guard...my kit does not have any of the such for hardware
Sorry we are not sure with out taking them out, ours came with the screws. I would imagine get some that will fit in the holes on the door and guard and drill accordingly. In our case we were only screwing into fiberglass mounted on insulation.

It's winterized right now, but it was running perfect. Cheryl absolutely loves the combo unit, she says we won't own another RV without one. . She starts a load before we leave for the day and when we get back she folds the clothes and puts them away. We are looking forward to getting out on the road full time this year with it. 😃
I'm thinking about buying one and putting in my 2020 hideout that doesn't have the hook ups. Doesn't seem to awful hard

@@tylertucker4478 We felt the same way, ours wasn't even 2 years old when we did it. Contact the manufacturer and ask for a copy of the wall plans, so you know for sure what you are drilling into. Good Luck.
Okay, I'm getting ready and doing a lot of search on how to install this in my 5th wheel, I'm confident that I can do it myself. Just for kicks and giggle our travel is in getting warranty work done so I ask them how much do they charge just to put in the vent, they told me $380.00 plus tax, no way I do it myself thank you for the video.

@@GetGonewithUS yes, that is insane but I have been looking at some video and especially yours over and over. I feel like I can do it myself, when I get my fiver back I'm going to take a stud finder and see if there any wood behind were they have it mark first.
So in the mean time what i did is email Jayco support to try to get a diagrams on that side, so yeah I'm doing a lot of research first, your video have been the most help.

Come on, it's just a 4" hole in the side of your RV, what could go wrong? LOL I was so glad when that part was over. That was stressful for days, then it all went away once it was done. Now, Cheryl loves the washer/dryer combo. She puts in a load when we go out, comes home and fold them and puts them away. Couple things about wrinkles, they will depend on the material, how large the load is and how long they sat in the dryer before being folded will determine if there will be wrinkles or not. 😃
@@GetGonewithUS Lol, on my first RV I made a mistake and drill 1/8 hole coming from our bathroom drilling out the other side, lol, I thought oh no my wife is going to kill me, I am dead. So I try to fix it myself but i just took it to the service department and they took care of it.
I think i can do it myself but i would have to think about what I'm doing and do some more searching. I just bought some JT Strongarms for my 5th wheel so I am doing my search on how to do it myself which I know I can. Great video it help me out.

Get Gone with US how wonderful! Sounds as if the machine is working well for you. How long does it take to do a load, and what types of items can or can’t be washed in this machine?
Lucy, yes it is working out great. I’m really liking it. There are many cycles but just now I timed the cotton heavy regular cycle and it took an hour and 20 minutes for the wash cycle only. I’ve been selecting 60 minutes for the dry cycle, which seems to work for us. There is nothing that can’t be washed as long as it does not over load the washer. So no quilts etc. I hope this helps.

Any clear non silicone sealant should work. We used Quad from Home Depot. 😀

Here I am watching another do-it -yourself video and I won't even be putting a washer/dryer in our class C, so I guess I must like them. Drilling a hole would drive me crazy and great idea of making a template from the box. Didn't know you could get plans from Jayco. Do they charge for that?
You are more than welcome to watch all our video. :) Drilling the hole as you saw, was not something we were looking forward to, but oh what a relief when it was over! :LOL The plan were free from Jayco, we called and asked for the wall structure and they sent us the wall, ceiling, floor, plumbing, electrical...we were quite impressed. Just call Jayco Motorized Customer Service and ask them to send what you want. Call 800-517-9137 and select Jayco Motorized Customer Service

Awesome, you are welcome, it's great info to have. The only huge issue we had with our Greyhawk was the roof started leaking 2 months after the warranty ended. We replaced it ourselves, it was quite an experience. :)

@@GetGonewithUS this washer is assembled in USA but if you will take a look at the serial code it says is made in italy bcs is produced togheter with indesit for america and your washer dryer has inverter model compared to indesit washer dryer that has a brushed one
For example: search indesit widxl 126 (UK) and you will see that is same machine but the degrees are in celsius and the rpm are like this 1200-600 and it has got British programming bcs the cycles are written in British english .
And it has a brushed motor .
I had also a indesit but it was a wil 105 it was not a washer dryer but it was just washer it had 5kg and 1000 rpm , that model had variations speed like : no spin , 400,500,600,700,800,900,1000.
It had a brushed motor and it looked like your washer .
It was a good machine that it lasted 13 yrs but it got replaced with another one it had display ,6kg and 1200 rpm but it died after 5 years and it got replaced with a Romanian brand : arctic/beko arctic apl81223xlw2 with inverter motor 8kg and 1200 rpm now i had it for 1 year and 5 months and is going strong

Which dryer vent kit did you go with? There are several different options on the link you provided.
We wanted to provided options for people depending on how they wanted to vent the exhaust. We went with a black kit, because our coach is darker and we were going to have the exterior of the cover painted to match the coach. 😃 We went with this one... amzn.to/2VqrTDE

@@GetGonewithUS honestly without seeing your video, not sure that we would have even tried. But our dealer wanted to charge $500 to do this install...yikes! i think we can just suck it up with our stomachs in knots and save our hard earned money. LOL
@@genimcnutt As long as you know nothing is in the wall that you'd hit, you'll be fine. $500 is a lot of money for this job.
Why didn't you install the drain pan?
We did consider it, but after talking to the company techs and asking why the RV factories don't install them. They said the factories don't want to put more holes in the RV. They also said the only real benefit is if you have something stuck in the clean out drain, the water that comes out would be caught in the drain pan. We had to clean it out once and there wasn't that much water to worry about. The drain pan in our opinion is added insurance , but wasn't worth the addition hole and the company didn't really push the idea for RV's.😄

From what I could read on the label, it says Made in Poland, so neither USA, nor China.
