Back in '88 they had scheduled this song on the radio every morning ~8am in his memory. Me and my dad used to leave home 10 minutes early so we catch the song on the car radio on our way to the bakery, or sit in the car park and wait for the song to play then go. It really brings back some priceless memories for me.
During the late 1980s, a fourteen-year-old boy reacted with surprise to learn that I knew who Roy Orbison was and even enjoyed this singer who was enjoyed by listeners his age. He was doubly surprised when I told him that Roy Orbison had been my favorite singer since the late 1950s. At that age, kids think the world began when they were born. Roy Orbison is still my all-time favorite singer.
And you think today's singers can sing? Well, some can. But Roy Orbison... now there's a voice that rippled gravity. He was my father's favourite and he sums up all the memories I have of a happy childhood in a home where this man's music always could be heard.
My mom always play roy orbison's music at home and older classics, even when i was a little girl. So I have a lot of memories from that time. No wonder why like 70s and 80s songs a lot more than modern music.
Somehow we do seem to grow into our parents' music. Funny, but I can't say that my parents grew into their parent's music so much. Maybe it was just a 70's/80's phenomenon.
His voice was truly rare. Artist study for years to attain that Falsetto sound. You hear the depth when he tracks down. It's pure. Privileged to listen to.

Roy came from an era in music that will never be again. So many great songs, so many great musicians and he was one of the best there has ever been or will ever be. I was fortunate to see him play in a little small club about 35 years ago in Houston. He just came out and performed his beautiful music. No B.S. or comedy routines just beautiful music and gracefully accepted his applause at the end of the show and exited the small stage.
I also had the privilege to see him in a small club setting at the Chief's Club in Pearl Harbor in late '73 or early '74. He and Marty Robbins are my all-time favorites.

Ive listened to Roys songs all my life. He has away of describing his lifes loves and losses through his songs and music. all of the songs are his and so are the tragedies. a sad sad day when he left us. at least we still have his songs to remember him by. I can relate my life happenings year by year as he brought out new songs. I'm 71 now and still get the chills down my neck and back when listening and dreaming to Roy Orbison.
I loved his lyrics/music from my teens to now, his lyrics feel like they are from the heart and that is the key I think. I am no music aficionado by any stretch of the imagination, but I think we will never see the likes of him again unless we ditch the addiction that seems prevalent these days with image/auto-tune. An addiction that seems to me to be going on for an eternity now, maybe I'm just getting old...
I saw Roy live in 1963. He was the last act before The Beatles, who were on last. All through the previous acts the audience had been yelling and screaming for The Beatles. But when Roy began singing, there was silence, with rapturous applause at the end of each song, notably seven recalls for the end of Running Scared. He was the best live act I ever saw.

I never get tired listening to his music even he's been gone a long time I feel like he is still around. There is something about his music that gets me so happy yet there is so much sadness about the tunes and delivery of the words and music. I wish he's still with us to make more beautiful music. Listening to his songs makes me to miss the brilliant artist that he was. He left us long time ago but his music will be with us forever.

He has away of describing his lifes loves and losses through his songs and music. all of the songs are his and so are the tragedies. a sad sad day when he left us. at least we still have his songs to remember him by. I can relate my life happenings year by year as he brought out new songs. I'm 71 now and still get the chills down my neck and back when listening and dreaming to Roy Orbison.
I loved his lyrics/music from my teens to now, his lyrics feel like they are from the heart and that is the key I think. I am no music aficionado by any stretch of the imagination, but I think we will never see the likes of him again unless we ditch the addiction that seems prevalent these days with image/auto-tune. An addiction that seems to me to be going on for an eternity now, maybe I'm just getting old...

I saw Roy live in 1963. He was the last act before The Beatles, who were on last. All through the previous acts the audience had been yelling and screaming for The Beatles. But when Roy began singing, there was silence, with rapturous applause at the end of each song, notably seven recalls for the end of Running Scared. He was the best live act I ever saw.

I never get tired listening to his music even he's been gone a long time I feel like he is still around. There is something about his music that gets me so happy yet there is so much sadness about the tunes and delivery of the words and music. I wish he's still with us to make more beautiful music. Listening to his songs makes me to miss the brilliant artist that he was. He left us long time ago but his music will be with us forever.
