I got the 3500 not because I tow, it’s because I’ve had coil rear jeeps and realize there is so much crap under there that will wear out. 4 control arms = 8 bushings. Sway bar bushings. Trac bar bushings. I’m keeping my truck forever and don’t want to mess with all that shit
When I first got my truck, I wanted to get a lift kit (at least 4-5 inches), big tires and dual steering stabilizers. After 6 years with my truck, I have learned so many things about truck suspensions and why I appreciate vendors/builders like CJC off-road who don’t go for those bds/McGaughys Uber bro-lifts. Right now I’m using a Pure Performance 3 inch lift on 35 inch tires, fox shocks and sumo-springs and that setup has been the best setup for my truck. Also, those dual steering stabilizers/dampeners you see on those SEMA trucks don’t do SHIT. If you need extra dampening, go with a Carli kit or replace the OEM shock with an aftermarket one in the stock location.
Those dual dampers are horrible. I bought an 07 Megacab and it had a Rough Country dual damper on it already. After a few days I started having an issue with death wobble occasionally, none of my steering components had play, it was tight and rode fine. I took that thing off and just put an OEM style back on, it was like $50 at Oreillys and it fixed my issue. I think that dual damper was picking up the vibrations and bouncing it back and forth until I slowed down.
Had a deal made on a 2019 Ram 2500 Limited CTD with an 18,000+ tow rating... until I discovered the payload was only 1840 lbs! That won't handle the lightest 5th wheel pin weight, not counting any passengers or other cargo. If you plan to tow much of anything, look closely at the payload capacity, not just the towing capacity! Ram 3/4 ton trucks, especially the higher trim levels have notoriously low payload capacities.
Yep! We WISH more people read into this. We have calls every single day where customers are 70k into the wrong truck for their needs and should have bought a 3500.
Always go 3500 when pulling any kind of trailer. Better to have more truck then not enough! Yeah the ride is rough but towing will be much more enjoyable.
@@SLICKW1993 I wouldn't say always, I'm pretty happy with my 2500 and it's versatility on and off road as well as pulling the 13k toy hauler (bumper tow) on the weekends. Sure a 3500 would be even better for towing, but for ALL other things especially off-road I'd rather have the 2500. I will say if my trailer was any heavier, say 15k then for sure I'd be in a 3500 and I'd be running RAM's air assist rear end or Carli LT airbags with the leafs. Or I could get an F150, that's rated for 13,000 lbs these days....LMAO!!
I argued this with the tire guy inflating my new toyos to 60 psi and i told him to lower it he did lower the pressure a little but I double checked and lowered them to 45 to get a flatter surface on the tread to the ground.
I couldn't agree more with your tire pressure advice, except in this instance, One thing to be mindful of is that if you run Milestar Patagonia tires, then you DO want to be fully inflated on the highway so that you DO run on the middle of the tread which actually does maximize that particular tire's tread life. I mention this because increasingly more people run Patagonias. And, sorry, i just have to say that, I run Firestone Ride rite bags, with NO cradles, on my 2016 PowerWagon, and honestly can't say I've noticed any ride quality reduction, nor any loss of articulation during full flex. I highly recommend them and have run them for almost 3 years with no trouble.
Those bags absolutely will have a negative impact on ride. There’s no way around it. It’s particularly noticeable if you’re running Thuren or Carli coils instead of the factory rear coils since they’re so much smoother.
Thanks for the information guys, I have a RAM 2018 Tradesmen 2500 Crew Cab with the long box. Not changing anything from factory setup and I love the 5 link suspension under it, on the interstate it's fantastic. Rides great, tows great.
I work in Mining and I am the only person to not get flat tires. Everyone runs MAX PSI and flats weekly on our rocky roads with max speed limit of 50km/h. I set my own tire pressure and the maintenance department hates it lol. But I follow the logic explained in this video as my personal truck carries a truck camper and I have done my research. So nice hearing it from the professionals the same way I explain it to co workers who don't believe me lol.
You guys talk about the 2500 as if it was a car. That you shouldn’t tow heavy with it. It tows up to 20,000 lbs. I tow a 16,000 lbs boat 2-3 times per month with no problem. I understand the 2500 is not going to be used to tow racks of cars but it can be used for pretty heavy towing without any issues.
For any one who is interested, I have a 2017 ram 3500 Cummins with a fibreglass cap and generally 2-500lbs of gear in the back. I am running a 35x12.50r18 gladiator mt 45 front 35 rear in the winter 55f/45r in the summer. I air up as needed depending on loads and towing.
Have 18 ram 2500, I towed travel trailer 8k with it. Use it too for commuting for work. Not hard core 4x4, just to go off grid boondocking. Commuter r back country suspension upgrade?
Thank you CJC off road for the videos..I damn sure I'm glad I have seen most or all of your videos. Excellent options and choices to consider of pros and cons . Keep the sweet builds coming.
Hey CJC your videos are really cool to watch however I wanted to ask if you could make a video on a gas truck to show the similarities and differences between both suspensions thx and take it easy!
The suspension is exactly the same on gas HD Ram and Ford truck! Carli and Thuren do slightly different shock and spring tuning to account for the weight difference, but the overall design is identical.
Want to tow a fifth wheel and need new tires for our 20 2500 Ram crew 4x4. Who makes a 12 ply tire with a little more height than stock? Added a Bilstein front coil 51xx kit and dual stabilizers already. LOVE THE RIDE. Factory 18s..Will 325, 305 work?
We’re working on more Thuren videos! We just cover what customers have installed at our shop, so we actually don’t have a ton of say in what vehicles or parts we film- it’s up to our customers that do these builds!
Thuren is great!! Got the control arms & track bar on my '06 MegaCab. The powder coat has held up really well here in Nebraska, the body panels on the truck not so much.
Another awesome video. And grate advice this coming from a guy with a crappy 6” box lift kit. Should have done it right the first time. You get what you pay for
2019 3500 air ride trucks, backcountry would be the ideal level of performance for allot of us but carli only offers the pintop for air ride 3500.. What would be our best option instead? Carli has already said no plans of a backcountry for air ride trucks.
Sadly that’s pretty much your only option since those trucks have completely different leaf packs than the normal Carli systems, and the rear shocks have a completely different tune. Carli put a TON of effort into that kit. Your other best option is to do a basic Carli Fox 2.0 level.
CJC Off Road do you have a part number or link to that leveling kit because the carli website does not show any leveling kits for factory air assist 2019 3500. I would do that if its available.
Carli doesn’t typically recommend their normal 3500 leveling kits for those trucks since the rear shocks aren’t tuned for those air assist rear leaf springs, but the parts fit and it’s still an improvement in ride quality over stock.
Helpful video. As a house framer, i grew weary of climbing into my Duramax w/ 6” of lift, especially when I had to get something out of the bed. The ride was very good, but I couldn’t park it in any public garage. Had to take the wife’s car. I think people are realizing the benefits of a leveling kit and lower engineered lifts, versus the SEMA lifts requiring cutting and money. I had hoped you guys would link some of your talking points below the video. Like what exactly is the difference between a Ram 2500 vs. a 3500. 👍
I have a Ram 2500,,,2015 Yr... What do you do about the Tire Pressure Sensors, my Ram 2500 has in door jam, Front 70,,,,Rear 80,,,lbs... I also put a set of 35-12.50 Toyo MT... How do you get around the Low Pressure Warning Light. Ifffff you run lower than computer factory set????
Great info, thank you! Question... The rear gawr for the 17 ram 2500 ctd is 6500#. I looked up what the gawr entails and read it includes the axle and it's components. So how is the gawr 6500#, but my payload 2250? I do haul a5th wheel (ultra-lite) with a dry pin weight of 1014# with my 2500, but am always concerned with weights. The only difference with the 2500&3500 is the leaf springs vs coils. Every other component is the same. I've read the 10K GVWR of the trucks is an artificial number for DOT/registration purposes and not the necessary capabilities of the truck. Thoughts?
Dually vs Single wheel 3500 Rams, Will the dually be able to handle as well as the single on the street? I know it will never get there off-road, but as for general daily driving and towing, how comparable are they as far as Carli?
If you were given a blank check and you had to choose between a 2500 crew cab or 3500 crew cab. You can set it up any way you choose. 2500 has coils in the rear 3500 has leaf springs in the rear. Which would you choose?
All depends on what you’re doing! The 2500 rides smoother all around, but the 3500 will tow better and actually is capable of more rear travel. If you want to be comfortable, get a 2500. If you want to tow or run the truck hard off road, get a 3500.
Akways heard running lower than recommended tire pressure can cause early/excessive wear on steering joints and other components. Is this accurate? Thx
I’m thinking of getting a 2500 soon because I want the GVWR To be 10,000 LB so I can haul a gooseneck for hot shot. What do I need to do get the suspension to where I’m not going to have an issue hauling 15k. It’s a 2021
I have a 18 ram 2500. I haul a bass boat every so often, a gooseneck trailer with cows or horses maybe once a year. But its mainly just normal towing. Would you recommend just replacing the RC level I have in the front and leave the rear springs stock?
Honestly with towing needs like that, you’d be fine going with a full 3.25” Carli system and just accepting a little squat depending on the pin weight of that GN trailer. We also recommend Timbrens for people that tow occasionally, since you can bolt them in for the tow and have no squat, then take them off for the rest of the time and have amazing ride. If you’re wanting to keep factory payload, then the Carli fox 2.0 level or King 2.5 pintop level will get you a better ride, but keep full factory towing. Keep in mind though that those factory rear springs will hurt ride compared to the four corner Carli systems.
what about just throwing a camper shell, and the decked pull out drawers? 2500 or 3500? there's a 2018 2500 and a 2018 3500 2 grand difference with super low miles. i can't decide which one to get
Great vid as always!! 2021 power wagon with 35/12.5/17 T/A k02. What kind of tire pressure would be the best for on road, off road i get them to 25 and it’s ok but i want to get a good ride on road and good mileage on the tire too. Thanks
What kind of mileage decreases do you guys see going to a 37 inch tire? What are all the drawbacks and differences you guys know of from 35 inch tires to 37 inch tires? Thinking about going to a 37x13.50 and also thinking about going to an MT instead of an AT because the options for ATs at that size are so limited. What are your feedbacks and reccomendations to that?? Please and thank you very much
If MPG matters to you, definitely stay away from the MT tires because of the increased rolling resistance! Tread pattern aside, a lot of it has to do with driving style. For example, if you do a lot of stop and go city driving, you’ll take a significant hit with larger tires because of the added rotational mass and gearing change. If you do mostly highway driving, you actually notice very little impact from 37s or may even see an improvement because of the gearing change.
@@CJCOffRoad thank you so much for the input. I will be sticking with 35s and ATs then. Its too bad because the MTs are the best looking. But i have had my truck for 3 years and its only been off road twice very briefly. The biggest hurdle my tires face is snow and thats where all terrains shine. Plus i dont want to lose mileage. My F350 super duty which is tuned is only getting 13 average mpg. So id hate to see it get worse than that mileage. Thanks again for your input theyve helped me make my decision 👍
We still waiting for the quote and we concerned about on road riding quality and towing capacity (2020 ram 3500 with factory air suspension SRW) quoted eddies life set up
How do you guys feel about a pre-2014 leaf spring rear 2500 with a smaller (2200#) Lance? I have a deal lined up on a 2013 2500 that I will throw a Carli pintop at but want to make sure it can handle the occasional weight. I don’t tow.
So just a question cuz I'm deliberating going back to GM for ride alone, I own a 2019 3500 Ram but hate the ride and steering vs my independent suspension in the GM 3500, however the luxury of the Ram is also hard to leave. The 68 rfe has preformed amazing, but the ride is not great. Can I actually get a preferred ride and handling?
Great informative videos. Just wondering. I’m from Canada and I have a plow on the front of my 2018 ram 2500. I want to install a leveling kit. What would you guys recommend?
so you mention tire pressures and I've heard of guys doing the chalk test and so on, but what if it's a mud tire like a stt pro? do I still want that tire to contact flat on the pavement? it's a 37/12.5/20 on a 17 ram 3500.
For tire pressure you always want to consult the manufacturer load inflation table. That will be the final word on the correct pressure for the given weight of your vehicle.
2019 f250 do the drivelines need any modifications when installing the 4.5 back county lift kit, was going with the 2.5 but think I now want the 4.5 - other lift kits there were problems with bigger /taller lift kits? Thx
Ordered a 2022 Ram 3500 SRW crew with 8ft bed. The truck is currently being built. We tow a 16k fifth wheel camper and I am looking at no more that 3in lift to keep the RV Level. I do not off road. Is Thuren or Carli kit going to be better?
CJC. I have a 2018 ram 2500 6.7 cummins. I installed the S&B cold air intake. I know they advertise Hp increases, more air comes in and better ecelleration but I don't notice any of this. Do these actually work as advertised or are these kits a waste of money and all your really getting is a washable filter?
The HP improvement is small so you will never notice the gain unless you dyno the truck. Even a massive bump of 50hp is too small to notice without a dyno! The primary gain from an intake is extra sound from the turbo.
Hey guys, I have the pintop leveling for the 2019 ram 2500 diesel. looking to get some 20s going with 37s. innov8 seems like the best option, as per what you guys told me personally, however they max out at 5" backspace. with the 5 " backspace will I be able to run a 37 without cutting?
Great videos! I have the Carli leveling kit on my 17’ 2500. I tow a 9k travel trailer that causes the rear to sag a bit. I purchased the air ride airbags, with daystar cradles, and I haven’t noticed a degraded ride while towing. I keep them at zero psi when not towing. I want to upstage to a full Carli setup and retain my airbags. What are you thoughts? Thanks again.
We actually recommend having a set of Timbrens that you install when towing and pull off when you’re empty for the 2500 trucks. The airbags dramatically reduce ride quality on 2500 trucks.
Darryl Davy I would talk to people that have airbags. I have the daystar cradle and the wireless one system. I have noticed no decrease in ride quality. I can go from 0 psi - 100psi with the push of a button. I can make my truck ride perfectly level while towing. Get on the Carli owners FB page. You’ll see people recommend airbags.
planning on a new 2500...with only towing maybe a few times a year a travel trailer...would you recommend the 3500 or 2500 gonna be okay with that demand?
I own a 19 2500 Cummins, and I tow a 32' toy hauler that is about 9500 dry and 13k loaded. I would consider this to be close to the limit of a 2500 and if my trailer was any bigger/heavier I would be in a 3500. I choose a 2500 because I like to off-road and long-term I want to downsize my toy hauler to smaller/lighter. That said it tows BETTER than expected, I was worried the coils would squat too much with 1200ish pounds tongue weight. With OEM suspension it squats less than 3" when loaded which is less than the Ford Excursion it replaces that had leaf springs with overloads and pretty much was on the bump stops pulling the same trailer. I actually have a lot of suspension travel left over with the new cummins. The only thing I know wont' be ideal after I go to the Carli pintop leveling system is my truck won't be level any longer when loaded, I'll be squating and nose high. But, I'm willing to live with that for all the other benefits that system provides.
You absolutely can! The Carli coils also add +1 inch in the rear. If you do the -1 coils with the +2.5 front, the truck will sit front high. Keep in mind, if you run the +1 cari coils with a Carli level, you’ll have to run the leveling shocks up front, and the rear shocks from one of the 3.25 kits out back.
That’s heavy for most higher level trim package 2500s depending on the tongue weight of the trailer, but no issue for a 3500. The Ram 2500s have a very low factory payload of about 1,600 to 1,800 pounds.
They can, but you won’t have the custom tuning that really makes the ride impressive. Thuren currently offers a 14+ Ram 3.0 front 2.0 rear option and Carli is about to release a full 3.0 dominator system for the 14+ Ram trucks. Both use King shocks.
I'm down in Dana Point and am looking for a 2500 now, but all the dealerships around me SUCK! Where did you go out of state to get your rig? I am thinking of the Carli Kit on 40's with the AEV fenders/Bumpers.
CJC Off Road I looked at diesel power products over there while I was waiting for my dads surgery and came across some of your guys videos on how to install the cari ball joints. I’m also lookin to improve ride quality seems like you guys know what your doing with all the information and content you put out. Keep it up..
You don’t want to. The ride with bolt on coil over conversions on a solid axle truck isn’t ideal since they dramatically reduce travel. The only exception is the Carli Coilover bypass set ups, since they completely re-locate the coil buckets, but there’s a lot of custom fab work involved.
I like how you promote the 3500 for overland rigs, but are you also then saying a Power Wagon isn’t an ideal overland rig? I feel like that platform is designed specifically for that application. Even with an in bed camper that weighs 1000lbs, can’t you upgrade the suspension to perform better and be stronger and it just be an excellent daily driver weekend warrior beast? If you get king shocks they can just be maintained/rebuilt overtime as they will wear quicker than stock obviously. I’m fine with that it makes sense if I’m maximizing what the truck can do. As long as I get 10 years out of it I can justify the money spent.
"Overlanding" usually involves a lot of camping and cooking gear which can add a ton of weight. Compound that with a heavy camper and you're adding 1,500+ pounds to the back of the truck. The Power Wagon was designed to bridge the gap between a diesel 2500 and a jeep. With softer front and rear suspension a Power Wagon will sag under all of the mentioned weight. Also factor in the power loss form all of the additional weight. Ideally, a diesel 3500 would have the torque/HP, fuel mileage, and capacity to meet every single need. The King shocks under heavy usage will last a lot longer than stock shocks or smaller shocks, but the spring weights would be the limiting factor.
CJC Off Road I agree with everything you said but for me justifying the cost of a 3500 is tough plus the maintenance of a diesel compared to a gas. Also I don’t tow so wouldn’t upgrading a 2500 be more economical? Keep trying to sell me please lol.
You just have to be realistic with your end goal! If you want to have the truck loaded, then you have to get the 3500 sadly! Here’s one more thing to consider: the resale value of the diesel trucks is SUBSTANTIALLY higher than the gas trucks. So, aside from fuel savings, when you go to sell your truck, the diesel will be worth thousands more. That alone justifies the diesel in our eyes.
Payload is your limiting factor with the Power Wagon, and if you are loaded over your payload and ever have an accident on the highway guess who's at fault, even if you didn't cause the accident!
We have never been impressed with the air ride set ups. While there’s the stereotype that they’re like riding on a cloud, in reality you’re riding on a thick rubber air bag. Those bags don’t give or flex like a coil, so the off road and on road ride suffers. Essentially you can’t beat the sensitivity and performance of a coil set up. However, air set ups make a lot of sense in situations where towing and payload matter and ride quality doesn’t since they essentially give you the ability to change spring rates on the fly. That’s why you see air bag set ups on semi trucks.
Sure! Ram offers that as a factory option too. The ride is not great though compared to a full 3” Carli sprung set up. If you’re looking at one of these trucks to use as a tow rig, buy a 3500 and not the 2500. The leaf rear handles loads better, and it gives you the ability to run Carli air bags to further supplement towing without ruining the ride. 👍
In a 2014 ram 2500 cummins, will doing a fleece fuel filter bowl delete in the engine bay get rid of the fuel heater or is the fuel heater elsewhere? I've been researching this and have had no definitive answer. Maybe you guys know??
Has anyone done a AEV Duel Sport front end lift in a Ram 2500 Power Wagon and sub in Carli/Thuren coil? Also on the Power Wagon AEV states the coils need be swaped back to regular 2500 coils. Is it they couldn't package it with out going to a huge King long travel style shock? Is there much of a difference between how the AEV vs Carli/Thuren ride on road? Miy PW is a 2018 with Daystar leveling kit 20×9.5 Black Rhino Armory rims 35x12.5 Duratracs. Not happy with the Daystar ride and contemplating going to 37s.
Daniel Dalluge The Carli/thuren and AEV parts do not mix. While I love AEV ‘s styling, their suspension parts leave me wanting more. The ride quality is basically like a stock truck, and it requires permanent cutting and modifications on the truck to run the AEV suspension. Basically the AEV ride is not even comparable to Carli or Thuren quality!
Derek Crismond what just because he has a gas engine ? Lol ur narrow minded af. If anything gas 2500s are becoming more and more practical because of all the bs emissions that come with the new diesels
@@zztop5911 Nope. Just the fact that someone would ask if a suspension package would work the same on a gasser as a diesel. My point was, if you don't know that those two things don't have anything to do with each other you should just ride a car that requires nothing but gas in the tank.
Drive them and it’s a different story. You cant argue with the brute pulling force of the Cummins. The powerstroke is faster off the line and has more top end, but when it comes to brute yanking something up a grade, the Cummins is very impressive. The 10 speed trans in the new Ford has really narrowed that gap though!
@@josephscott8120 The base diesel in the 3500 is the same 370/850 Cummins as the 2500. If you opt up to the 400/1000 HO Cummins you get the Aisin trans which is heavier duty to handle the extra hp/tq of the HO engine.
Garret Kratzer quick answer is no, they make suspension kits, not lift kits. Their kits are designed for performance and the heights they have available is because thats the peak performance travel.
Snake oil bro’s... Most lift kits are installed to/restore to factory specification... That’s a hard sales pitch bruh, keep it real... Also from the dudes that love the 3rd Gen large lift kits... Come on now fam...
"We don't build SEMA trucks" - exactly why you guys are awesome.
“Buy once, cry once.” Those words echoed in my head when I purchased my fully optioned pintop system.

That is correct.
I have a 150 and i have toyo rts 35×12.5×18 and i run 36 in front and 30 in the back.
Your vids are freaking awesome! I can’t get enough!
As always, great content. Keep up the good work guys!
Much appreciated!
Am I the only one who finds a strong resemblance Cody and Toby from the Office ?
You aren’t alone 😂
I got lucky with my 2009 2500 heavy duty. It is almost identical to the 3500. Just a different leaf spring suspension and that’s about it 🤷♂️
Appreciate the great info as always gentlemen, thank you!
I always thought you guys were the same person...
How does the hemi / Cummins weight difference affect off road. ?
It isn’t as big of a deal as people make it out to be. It’s essentially the same as having a couple of friends in the cab!
Thank you for the clarification.
@CJCoffroad Dont see many Thuren kits on you guys videos be nice to visualize some options and looks of the different lifts
You get what you pay for
What's the best tuner for removing the speed governor in a '19 Ram 2500 diesel?
Like what exactly is the difference between a Ram 2500 vs. a 3500. 👍
I always look forward to these videos
I have a Ram 2500,,,2015 Yr... What do you do about the Tire Pressure Sensors, my Ram 2500 has in door jam, Front 70,,,,Rear 80,,,lbs... I also put a set of 35-12.50 Toyo MT... How do you get around the Low Pressure Warning Light. Ifffff you run lower than computer factory set????
Hello guys, I lost tire pressure info on my 2022 3500 ram, heavy duty. How I can find it?
One you put a carli set up on them they ride very similar! The dually trucks have a little added stability on road though because of the width.
Can I put a 14 ply on my front tires. 2018 ram 3500 for towing
@@CJCOffRoad What if you're towing under 10k lbs? Would you still say go with a 3500?
@@rookieallen8439 I tow a 13k lb toy hauler with my 2500 and I'm happy with it especially off-road and I don't even have a Carli setup yet.
It’s a 2021
Yep!. 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 4dr . 6.7Cummins. 2050 max payload. Def not getting a 2000lb(dry weight) truck camper in that .
Sadly we see people that think they can do it all the time!
Great video...informative! You mentioned to buy a 3500 (Ram) for Overlanding...does this also apply in Fords? Thanks.
Just Rams since the 2500s are coil sprung!
Thanks. So an overlander can still stay with a 3/4 (2500, f250) ton truck, as long as it’s an F250, because it’s leaf-sprung at the rear?
Which ones faster that’s my question
2500 or 3500? there's a 2018 2500 and a 2018 3500 2 grand difference with super low miles. i can't decide which one to get
We’d recommend doing a 3500 purely for the sake of having more loaded capacity with something like Carli leaf springs.
Oh shit, they got Toby from the office!
Great vid as always!! 2021 power wagon with 35/12.5/17 T/A k02. What kind of tire pressure would be the best for on road, off road i get them to 25 and it’s ok but i want to get a good ride on road and good mileage on the tire too. Thanks
Awesome video. Wondering which one is better for overland camper build? 3500 single wheels vs dually? Thanks.
Hands down single wheel! Fitting a dually down technical trails is next to impossible!
Please and thank you very much
I lost about 5gpm with a 5'' lift and 37
If MPG matters to you, definitely stay away from the MT tires because of the increased rolling resistance!
We still waiting for the quote and we concerned about on road riding quality and towing capacity (2020 ram 3500 with factory air suspension SRW) quoted eddies life set up
We are working on it! With everything happening with COVID, it is slow to get a response from freight companies.
Thank you 😊
How do you guys feel about a pre-2014 leaf spring rear 2500 with a smaller (2200#) Lance? I have a deal lined up on a 2013 2500 that I will throw a Carli pintop at but want to make sure it can handle the occasional weight. I don’t tow.
That’s no problem! It’s just the coil 2500s that falter with that kind of weight.
Talking 2500 overland. What about a 13” tall ladder rack with 2-300 lbs.
A ladder rack will be just fine! However a whole flat of drywall may squat it a little ;)
So just a question cuz I'm deliberating going back to GM for ride alone, I own a 2019 3500 Ram but hate the ride and steering vs my independent suspension in the GM 3500, however the luxury of the Ram is also hard to leave. The 68 rfe has preformed amazing, but the ride is not great. Can I actually get a preferred ride and handling?
It's VERY easy to improve the ride on the 2500 so that you have the best of both worlds with it!
Great informative videos. Just wondering. I’m from Canada and I have a plow on the front of my 2018 ram 2500. I want to install a leveling kit. What would you guys recommend?
Just get larger coils, front leveling spacers make the ride terrible
Great video guys.
so you mention tire pressures and I've heard of guys doing the chalk test and so on, but what if it's a mud tire like a stt pro? do I still want that tire to contact flat on the pavement? it's a 37/12.5/20 on a 17 ram 3500.

Thx
Nope! Unless you have a long bed, in which case Carli provides a carrier bearing drop.
Ordered a 2022 Ram 3500 SRW crew with 8ft bed. The truck is currently being built. We tow a 16k fifth wheel camper and I am looking at no more that 3in lift to keep the RV Level. I do not off road. Is Thuren or Carli kit going to be better?
Both will be a major step up from factory!
@@CJCOffRoad Then the deciding factor will be small business .I will order the Thuren Kit from CJC. Thanks
Ok I was kinda thinking that , thanks for your reply.

Do you support a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel
Hey guys, I have the pintop leveling for the 2019 ram 2500 diesel. looking to get some 20s going with 37s. innov8 seems like the best option, as per what you guys told me personally, however they max out at 5" backspace. with the 5 " backspace will I be able to run a 37 without cutting?
You can absolutely do it! We’ve even run 38s on the innov8 wheels. It just takes a little more trimming to make it happen.
which ram 1500 and 2500 have the highest payload??! I find conflicting numbers.
The Hemi, tradesman, long bed Ram 2500s will have the highest payload. Ram, lists the payload for every configuration on their website!
Can I install a carli high mount steering stabilizer on and 2016 ram 2500 with thuren 1 inch springs to counter right steering pull?
Yep! You’ll want the high mount for Toyo MT tires and the low mount for everything else.
@@CJCOffRoad I have the thuren king low steering stabilizer and toyo at2s.
CJC Off Road do you have a spec for the timbrens you suggest? We ordered the 2.5” commuter system for a 2020 2500 from you yesterday. Thank you.
Should I order ram 2500 with 3.73 or 4.10 gear ratio? If I’m planning to put 37”
Are you wanting diesel or gas? Diesel is 3.73, gas is 4.10.
planning on a new 2500...with only towing maybe a few times a year a travel trailer...would you recommend the 3500 or 2500 gonna be okay with that demand?
If its a 5th wheel. 3500 no question.
Can I add the thuren rear 1in coils with a Carli 2.5 pintop leveling kit? If yes are there any down sides to it?
You absolutely can! The Carli coils also add +1 inch in the rear. If you do the -1 coils with the +2.5 front, the truck will sit front high. Keep in mind, if you run the +1 cari coils with a Carli level, you’ll have to run the leveling shocks up front, and the rear shocks from one of the 3.25 kits out back.
@@CJCOffRoad Okay if i were to do the carli 1in coils in the rear, am i able to buy just the rear shocks?
Yep! We can put that kit together for you if you call us.
What weight do you guys consider heavy when towing? I tow a 14k dump trailer with my 2500.
That’s heavy for most higher level trim package 2500s depending on the tongue weight of the trailer, but no issue for a 3500. The Ram 2500s have a very low factory payload of about 1,600 to 1,800 pounds.
@@CJCOffRoad my 2020 Tradesman 4x4 Cummins crew payload is 2384. Perfect for me. Trim makes all the difference evidently.
The guy from the left, looks like the legit kid from that guy from "I shrink my kids" movies...
Can fox race series 3.0 be put on 2019 RAM Power wagon?
They can, but you won’t have the custom tuning that really makes the ride impressive. Thuren currently offers a 14+ Ram 3.0 front 2.0 rear option and Carli is about to release a full 3.0 dominator system for the 14+ Ram trucks. Both use King shocks.

CJC... I looked at the King 3.0 dominator by Carli, can I put coilovers on 2020 Ram 2500?
You don’t want to. The ride with bolt on coil over conversions on a solid axle truck isn’t ideal since they dramatically reduce travel. The only exception is the Carli Coilover bypass set ups, since they completely re-locate the coil buckets, but there’s a lot of custom fab work involved.
king 3.0 is going to be "like" a coilover. the king 2.5 are "like" a coilover IMHO. I have them on my 19 2500. super stiff ride.
@@thehawkguy Nice!
@@CJCOffRoad kool
CJC Off Road thank you!
Payload is your limiting factor with the Power Wagon, and if you are loaded over your payload and ever have an accident on the highway guess who's at fault, even if you didn't cause the accident!
what about a kelderman lift?
We have never been impressed with the air ride set ups. While there’s the stereotype that they’re like riding on a cloud, in reality you’re riding on a thick rubber air bag. Those bags don’t give or flex like a coil, so the off road and on road ride suffers. Essentially you can’t beat the sensitivity and performance of a coil set up. However, air set ups make a lot of sense in situations where towing and payload matter and ride quality doesn’t since they essentially give you the ability to change spring rates on the fly. That’s why you see air bag set ups on semi trucks.
So would air in the back and a Carli setup in the front possible ?
Are they twins?
How hight I need to lift to clear 35,37” tires?
Should I put leveling kit or lift kit? 🤔
Guys. My new 2019 RAM 2500 tows as much as my 2016 3500 did
How much does it tow? I’m curious what these guys mean by “heavy” when talking about towing.
In a 2014 ram 2500 cummins, will doing a fleece fuel filter bowl delete in the engine bay get rid of the fuel heater or is the fuel heater elsewhere? I've been researching this and have had no definitive answer. Maybe you guys know??
Why are you trying to get rid of the fuel heater?
Get the "Black Market Cat fuel filter".
@@CJCOffRoad I'm not trying to get rid of it, I'm asking if doing this will get rid of it. I live in Canada, kind of need the fuel heater...
3500 ONLY!
Do you get the same ride quality improvement from a Carli suspension on a 2017 F250 gas engine?
Seriously, dude? Sell your truck immediately and get an Accord
Yes you do! These kits and tuning work no matter what fuel you’re putting in!
Yeah I know you answered in viedo but I sent it before I heard, sorry about that sir!
What about the biggest difference? 2500 Shitty transmission and de tuned motor?
The biggest difference is the rear suspension and the ability to order the AISIN trans on the 3500.
Your right, but I’ll never understand why they have 2 versions of the Cummins and why the 2500 has 40 less HP and 150 less torque than 3500?
Then you look at an 2020 F250 vs the 2500 and it’s laughable.
If you opt up to the 400/1000 HO Cummins you get the Aisin trans which is heavier duty to handle the extra hp/tq of the HO engine.
so basically if yo don't use your truck as an actual truck then get the 2500
