A Rivian R1T electric pickup truck apparently caught fire while parked next to an Electrify America charging station in Mill Valley, California, with the Southern Marin Fire Department responding. Both Rivian and Electrify America are investigating the incident, but images appear to show the fire was contained to the front of the truck, where the charge port is located.

Impressive the way Rivian designed that truck, so free and unconventional, like there was no rules or boundaries. The gear tunnel, add on kitchen, goose neck hinges for the tailgate and retractable load carrier that works on top of the bedside as well as the roof top. As a vertical challenged dude, I really wish Rivian would have designed the frunk opening/hood with a tongue in the front for lower oading height, , like on the Ford truck. The way the frunk opened and closed was like a dance, and same for the charge port. What a way to start off as brand new electric car manufacturer. It seems no short cuts was taken. Respect. But how was Rivian able to stay unknown to the word for an entire decade all while hiring engineers and working on prototypes? And where did the early funding comes from? Was the founder a trust fund kid? Crypto miner? or how did he fund the operations for the first decade?

He's tired of the old market, Tesla is his current relief from old auto-trends. He'll be perfectly happy to praise every company who comes along and delivers a good product at the end of the day, even with issues that need to be resolved.
For me, as much as I admire Tesla for what they've done, I'd never buy one as they are currently. Their support chain and parts supply are both severely hampered for post-purchase fixes, I really don't like how few buttons there are in the vehicle; burying things in menus unnecessarily, and their paint issues need addressing asap.
I'd much rather have a Rivian based on looks and function alone, but even they will be a long time coming before they scale up appropriately enough and have that customer support chain in place to ensure that nobody who buys their $70K+ vehicle has too many headaches, because they will most certainly come up.

Sandy gave him the opportunity to talk about himself and humanize him self and instead he just pivots to talking points.

Really like the stuff seeing but two things are still out in the open: First was the small oil thingy fixed /removed, which you could see being ripped off from the suspension at Long Way Up (love this series!!!) when hitting a rock, and second when will we see a Rivian on the Rubicon Trail to prove it can really do off-road ? and what are the limit of you load a fully fitted Camping Cabin on the back for Overland journeys?
