I enjoyed my three days at Tulchan and have been back again since and started editing my trip. I enjoyed your video of your time at Meiklour. Its been a while since I fished there and will need to make the effort to get back Cheers Iain 🥃
@@IainSB Thanks Iain, yes Meiklour is a lovely beat and great Ghillie. I look forward to returning and fishing the fly this time. Loved you Tulchan videos and hoping to get up there in May for my first visit to the Spey.
Thanks Austin I use to do a lot of trout fishing but haven't had a cast for them in years but I may have a try soon. several anglers I have spoken to recently go out regularly and enjoy them selves Cheers Iain. 🥃
It must have been great to fish these beats in their heyday Tommy. can you imagine catching 10 spring fish in a day on such perfect water Have fun and keep your rod bent. Cheers Iain. 🥃
That barbecue looked amazing sure beats sandwiches. Lovely stretch of river and the banks are so well kept. Keep the videos coming Ian and tight lines. Cheers 🍻
I was fortunate to have fished at Tulchan in the late 90,s Paddy. it was then known as the Tulchan experience and lunch was always served by a butler and two maids . the lunch consisted of a three corse meal with all drinks wine beer and spirits . I wish that I had my camera to record the treatment as very few anglers believe the service that came with the days fishing at Tulchan Cheers Iain🥃
It was good to meet you Chris and I have looked at your video from last year at Tulchan I enjoyed your presentation and looking forward to your offerings from this years trip keep up the good work. Cheers Iain. PS I will get around to watching the rest of your videos Tight Lines. Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Andrew I hope that your year has been good so far . I am afraid that you have missed a few trips I have fished on a few occasions (5 so far that I think you have missed ). if you type in iain sb uploads to TH-cam only if you are bored you could pass some time I know that your season will start soon. Tight lines. Cheers Iain 🥃
What wonderful weather to be spending time by the river! As you said good company . 3 days of fishing make it worth while . A Salmon is just the icing on the cake. It makes you wonder though and gives concern for the state of the wild salmon. Even though one is practising catch and release the numbers don't seem to be going up and there is enough water.?
on all the rivers in Scotland there has been plenty of water and most are struggling to catch fish It will be a while before government realise the benefits of visitors coming to fish before anything is done to help. there are hotels that are having problems with lack of guests due too the lack of anglers . Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Iain. You seemed to have plenty of water on - on your third day. You're obviously well suited to your Gamechanger head it was flying out and pulling on your reel. I'm on Kinermony in late April - I'm hoping a few more fish will be in by then. Glad you enjoyed your three days Iain - it looked lovely fly water. Best Phil
There was plenty of water Phil I had hoped for more fish but that's fishing . I have fished Kinermony a few years ago with Malcolm Mcleman and had a few fish from the bottom pool on the beat . Malcolm,s ashes are scattered on the banks of the river Just above Aberlour and I am sure that he enjoys all the antics of anglers that visit ..... Tight lines and I am sure Malcolm will be there wishing your catches to be great Cheers Iain. 🥃
Please do. Malcolm loved his fishing and I am sure he would appreciate a nod or a tip of the hat. 👌🎣 I hope that your rod is bent often with bars of silver .
There were a few salmon seen going through Gary. recently I have been looking at some of the web sites and it looks like a better year so far than last year we anglers are optimists and that is why we go fishing rather than Ski or golf Tight lines Cheers Iain. 🥃
It was a lovely beat to fish was expecting a pull at any point. I waded the first pool you fished I'm guessing it was too high with the rise in water from the Friday rain. I saw one head and tail about two rod lengths out in the second pool you fished. Great video again Iain.
I never saw a fish for the three days fishing you did well to have a fish pull at your fly and see fish . I think that I may be heading North in a couple of weeks with Russ and will try give you a shout and meet up Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Iain, Great video once again and the Spey in all its glory. Didn’t see anything showing Iain was there any caught? Really enjoyed your drone footage shame you didn’t connect as the water was bang on , shame it was a bit bright which got me thinking they weren’t stopping or they were very deep. Can’t wait for the next Iain the rivers down here are still in flood with more rain on the way😢. Thanks for sharing Iain. Cheers. 🥃Steve.
There weren't any thing caught Steve the anglers that fished for the three day struggled but had fun a few fish were seen heading upstream and waving their tail on the way past. I would love to fish there in the summer one day !!! Hopefully your river levels will settle and and you can get fishing with some knowledge that the river is in good condition Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Andy I have problems remembering pool names . I was also told the one that I fished last was known as the boat pool . I think that was the forth pool down from the top Cheers Iain. 🥃
sad to say, salmon fishing is finished, no kelts are being caught and very few fish. all scottish rivers are struggling and have been since the 1980s. we need to ban salmon farming on the west coast to see if numbers recover at all, on that side of the country. that would be the first indicator to see if salmon farming is partly to blame with the serious demise of this magnificent fish
The salmon farms have a lot to answer for Andy . the sea lice on the west coast and over the last ten years or more escape diseased fish have been contaminating our wild fish and making life for our salmon bleak. Cheers Iain. 🥃 PS there is one river that had a lot of kelts have a look at my videos from the Helmsdale earlier this year. we had to move from the pools because we didn't want to disturb them anymore
the drone footage is something that I have only started Les and hopefully I can master the little sh**e before it drives me insane. I think that it is designed for guys that are a lot younger and more tech savvy than I am . I will try and add some different views in the future once I get the hang of the machine or it will end up in the water Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Doc I have never been knighted but it is an honour that I hope may be bestowed on me for my efforts in fish conservation this year 😜. Cheers Iain. 🥃
no one had a fish James there were a couple of fish pulled at the fly and a few fish seen waving as they went past Just another day of casting practise......... can you imagine anywhere better to practise casting 😃. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great video Iain, as always. Lovely piece of water and conditions looked great!

Great video as usual from you. I know nothing about Salmon fishing as I fish for wild brown Trout on the river Suir in Ireland but love your videos.

I’ve just spotted you Chris at the BBQ. My other Salmon fishing channel of choice. Some lunch venue that mind ! Thank you Iain.
Great to see you survived the winter :), thats a lovely strech of water to get to work over even with out the fishes cooperation.

3 days on the spey, looks perfect no fish just shows the state of Atlantic salmon numbers

@IainSB that sounds great. Russ has my number now so can contact me that way to meet up.
I spoke with Russ today Tobby and I think that we are fishing on the Brora 11th and 12th but not sure of all the arrangements 👌
@IainSB I'm working those days unfortunately. Tight lines for the trip.

What length rod are you using on these big Salmon rivers Ian?
I think that I was using a 15ft sage when I fished at Tulchan. you need to have a bit of line control in the early spring .
Cheers Iain. 🥃
I don't know how you can fish after a lunch like that Ian? I would be asleep on the bank 😂
Its hard work but us anglers have to knuckle down and fish no mater how much pressure there is inside our wading belt 😉
Cheers Iain 🥃
That first pool is Broom. The boat is the one below.-)
Thanks Andy I have problems remembering pool names . I was also told the one that I fished last was known as the boat pool . I think that was the forth pool down from the top
