  • I’ve owned this beauty for over 20 years. It’s one of my favorite semi autos. Not just for it’s looks but because it runs as beautifully as it looks

The title needs to be fixed. This is a West German Nickel plated 226. Not a 266 as the title suggests.

I’m sure you already know this, but that is the unicorn of unicorns that you have there. I actually finally just managed to find one myself, and at a price I could afford (I’ve seen them listed on GB before, but once bids kept going too high, I kept bowing out). Can’t wait to receive it!

The unicorn of unicorns? Well I knew they were rare but didn't think they were that rare. I have always loved the electroless nickel finish on a handgun, either semi auto or revolver. That was always my first choice if it was available. I bought a 6 inch Electroless Nickel Python way back in 87. This guy I met at work was an FFL , and as we were talking I mentioned that I would love to have a 6 inch E.N Python. He said he could get it for me, so I told him that would be great. Well it took him about two months to get it from Colt. He was surprised how hard it was to get, and then told me that once he saw it, he was really tempted to keep it for himself, but he was a man of his word. A few years later I bought new a 4 inch EN Python that just happened to be in the back of a display case at this gun shop. And yes, I still have both, along with every other EN finished handgun I ever bought. It's a shame no one seems to be making them anymore.

@@boeing900 You're right; I speak with some jest, but the all-nickel SIG 226 is definitely rare because SIG only produced them between 1987 and 1991 (I believe). After that, they switched to making the two-tone version which had only the steel parts finished in nickel. The all-nickel 228 is even more rare because it was produced for an even shorter time (roughly late-1989 to 1991). As for your Pythons: Even if they weren't EN-finished, I'd still keep them forever just because they're original Pythons!
