    Waited all summer to see you In Baltimore! Really like what I see! Looking forward to seeing your Baltimore experience develop! ⛵️

      It has taken us YEARS to get there 😄 but like everywhere it has its good points and its not-so-good points. One thing we were wary of is that having tried to get there for so long, we might have built unrealistic expectations about the place.

    You two girls are priceless! Hope you got out for your Fastnet daysail. All the best from Plymouth... when are you going to get over to our side of the water? Cheers James

      We will not be seeing Plymouth this year. Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope the weather is nice where you are

      You’re welcome 😊 It is a great anchorage as you will see in a future episode. For shopping it is a disaster and it is cheaper to order a supermarket delivery from SuperValu in Skibbereen. The local shop would bankrupt you...

    For lots of reasons, we loved Baltimore.
    Large fast RIBs however were a blinkin' pain, either planing at speed between boats at anchorage or having to clamber over them 3+ deep at dinghy dock as no one was collecting payment, owners were using dinghy dock for long-term moorings. Can see far less dinghy dock congestion so wonder if fees are being collected again?
    Great to see you enjoying some summer sunshine :-)

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The dinghy dock was still stuffed but they were not collecting fees. The random sailing dinghies were the main hazard when we were there - some very "random" sailing being done 😄 The sunshine was lovely, but it was more or less the end of the good weather... 😞

    We have done that before headed out and turned round and came right back. No point in beating yourself up if you don’t need to !

      @@SailingYachtSaltyLass our biggest issue seems to be sailing to a schedule if we could get out of that habit life would be so much easier

      @@SVFresh2Salty - We just refuse to do it. If someone wants to come aboard in a particular place, we tell them not to travel until we are already there. We have had too many close calls trying to keep schedules.

    Re the Balti: The British version of Balti was developed in Birmingham in 1977 according to Wikipedia. Further it seems to have a particularly colonial following; “Outside Britain, a small number of balti houses are in Ireland and many other English-speaking countries, particularly Australia, Canada and New Zealand”. Unfortunately I haven’t found any references to curry and Baltimores in any countries which use that name, except two Salty Lasses eating a balti in Baltimore harbour Ireland in this weeks episode, i think Wikipedia may need an update in recognition of this important moment.

      This was back in mid-June so by now we are back up north again. It was a good sailing area and there were some spots that took our breath away but the weather from mid-June onwards made it so difficult. I particularly liked the passage via the north exit of Baltimore up to Schull.

      It's a beautiful place to sail .
      I've dome a solo circumnavigation in my previous boat that was a wonderful adventure. I had every kind of weather from flat calm to f10. Mad tides up on the north coast.... do your home work with due diligence.
      I was doing 12knots down the antrim coast on a 30ft boat,
      Pure bliss my hull speed was only 6 knots. Have fun ladies.
      Watch out for the maidens ,
      Overfalls like a washing machine. Fair winds.

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The North Channel - our normal sailing area 😄 I guess we are used to it and the mad tides can be very useful for getting around. Well done on the solo circumnavigation 👍

    Clean the heat exchanger with kettle descaler to remove limescale buildup

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We actually had trouble sourcing a descaler in areas where we thought it would be easy. With so much of the south and SE coasts being in very hard water areas we thought it would be stocked on a shelf in plain view, but many places did not have it and in Kinsale (where we finally found some) it was a right old run-around. Very surprising!
      So we used vinegar to do the kettle 😄

    Do you still have pay €5 for dinghy dock?

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No we didn't. I offered but the harbourmaster said not to worry and no one else seemed to be paying either.
