lmfao ini thought ini was the only one. ini saw this movie to he first time as a young teen and was apsolutely captivated by this retelling of the Greek myth. ini may have a thing for tragic women
Such beautiful music should be known by far more than 5,834 people. So tender, so humane, so hopeful--these are qualities this present world desperately needs.
Saw this in L.A. channel 9 KHJ back in the '60s. Arguably one of the most brilliantly conceived films ever made. I am astounded by its music and imagery. I've only seen it broadcast once, in the past 34 years on Seattle TV. Would love to see it on the big screen, re-mastered, Dolby Stereo.
I saw this movie when I was a boy and I was enthralled. The memory of it came into my mind, so I found this clip. I want to watch the movie this evening.
Nostalgie, nostalgie...Ce film m'a marquée à jamais...j'avais 12 ans ...Je l'ai revu aujourd'hui avec beaucoup d'émotion...il m'avait beaucoup impressionnée.
Tao feliz/ A manha deste amor. / thats what he said
The original Greek Orpheus myth, Was about Orpheus who joined an expedition with the Argonauts, he saved the Argonauts from the music of sirens by playing his own music. He then fell in love with Eurydice, who shortly after died from a snake bite. In his grief, he went.to the cemetery to see if he could bring her back to life, which in turn made him fall in love with death. This movie is a spin on it, placing the scene in Brazil and making it Black love. It's a musical and a lovely one.
Sequence beginning 4:28 is one of the most poignant and compelling love scenes in film history. The slowly strummed guitar and the exterior location add to the emotional appeal of the two lovers. I can feel the power of Orpheus' tender kiss as his lips lightly brush against Eurydice's hand after her sublime gesture of gently stroking his brow. The tear in her eye just prior, shows her complete happiness in this moment but also foreshadows the tragedy that will overcome them. Once seen and felt, the sequence is immortalized in the viewer's memory and heart.

Amar a cabo suelto desata furias caníbales. Baste no olvidarlo.
Great movie show it in school as an introduction to teach children "samba"drumming And its many independent, interdependent and intricate layers of the different percussion instruments n their different rythms n SOOOOO beautiful in every way

@@AngellaBegemot Angella, I hope that the belief that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery is being reflected here!
Marpessa Dawn was gorgeous. And Bruno Mello was so handsome. How sad that they died a month apart from each other.
Unforgettable... a jewel.
Just love this song.So sad,but beutiful in the same time.
Bossa and samba are great!
Thanx for the post.
Love this chords and melody, since my father taught me 20 years ago.

The song is Manhã de Carnaval, lyrics by Antonio Maria and music by Luiz Bonfa, and the singer (I think) is Agostinho dos Santos.

Does they know yet that they're in a story? Does he remember? I don't think she remembers the story fully but she guesses at what it is.
